Chapter 3: Yuto and Yui

When Yuto opened his eyes, his vision was fuzzy. His head pounded as he waited for his vision to return. Once it did Yuto realized that he was looking up at a padded wall. He slowly sat up and realized that he was in a small 'personal safety' room. A padded room to keep the patient in question from hurting themselves. Yuto spotted his camcorder sitting beside him. He picked it up and flicked the screen open to see that his camcorder was still in working order. He tried to remember what had happen. How had he ended up here?

That girl...

She had sneak up behind him and jabbed him with a needle. Right afterwards he felt lightheaded and fell unconscious. She must have been the one who brought him to this room. But why? Yuto's heart tighten when he realized that he had left the tomato haired boy alone in the basement. He had to get back to the lobby and quickly.

When Yuto was sure that he could stand on his own, he stood up and went over to the door in his cell. He peered out the tiny window. The place looked less like an asylum and more like a prison. The door to his cell was locked however so no one could get in, but now he couldn't get out. Sighing, Yuto looked back at the room and realized that the white room wasn't so white anymore.

Blood stained the walls in the shape of crosses and words. He activated his camcorder and recorded the writing. Rest in peace, says the blood. Yuto isn't sure what to make of it. Suddenly, Yuto heard a soft clicking noise. He turned around to see the door slowly swing open. Yuto cautiously poked his head out of the room, No one was around.

Loud screams echoed through the room and Yuto did his best to ignore it as he explored. Hopefully he wasn't too far from the lobby. Yuto looked over the railing that guarded the edges to see that he was on the second floor of the holding area. As he walked around he noticed that in the padded cells there was either an inmate, blood, guts, or all of the above. Lucky, all of them were locked and he was perfectly fine with that.

When he reached the staircase that went down to the first floor where a few inmates were roaming Yuto wonder if he really had to go down there when he spotted something out of the corner of his eye. Painted on the wall behind him was a large red arrow. He knew that wasn't red paint. The arrow was pointing down towards a dark hallway that seem to lead further into the asylum.

Yuto wasn't sure why, but he just had this feeling. This feeling that this arrow was meant for him. Besides, this route was better than the other way. Yuto cast another quick look downstairs before heading into the hallway. The hallway was lone, dark, and silent. Yuto was grateful for it to be honest.

Yuto continued to follow the bloody arrows that were painted along the walls and floors. Yuto knew this had to be the work of the Red Lady. Messages were also painted on the wall as well. Things such as Horakhty always provides a way. And follow the blood. Yuto wasn't sure why she was doing this. What could she possible gain from keeping him here?

Yuto's train of thought was broken by a scream. Several screams in fact.

"Gong, no!" A familiar voice shouted. Yuto knew that voice. He dashed into the next room to see that it was another holding area except this area was in a much worst state of disarray. Yuto was still on the second floor, but at the bottom, he watched in horror as Gong picked up an inmate and snap his body in two. Yuto winced at the snapping of bones.

"Must...contain. Must contain." Yuto could hear Gong growl over and over again as he toss the lifeless body to the side. Gong's gaze then locked eyes with another victim. A victim with distinctive red and green hair. Yuto blinked in shock. The boy was here!

"G-Gong...please." The boy whimpered fearfully, but it seems that this time around Gong didn't care.

"Must...prevent...spread." The boy's eyes were wide with terror. Yuto leaped into action, racing across to the stairwell. Unlike the area Yuto woke up in, this staircase was completely gone. There was no way out, making these inmates easy prey for someone like Gong. The second floor was too high to reach by yourself, however with some help...

"Hey!" Yuto called out, hoping that the boy would react to his voice. To Yuto's relief, the boy did, looking up at him. Yuto got on his knees on the very edge and held his hand out. "Come on! I'll pull you up!" The boy hesitated for a moment, but just a moment. Gong was nearly upon them now. The boy dodged to the side and ran towards him. He leaped, but their fingers just barely brushed together.

The boy fell back to the ground. Heart pounding, Yuto stretch his hand down further, his arm beginning to ache from the strain. The tomato haired boy glanced back to see Gong heading straight for them. He may be strong, but he was slow. That didn't make him any less terrifying.

"Hurry!" Yuto urged. The boy backed up a few steps and took another running leap. This time Yuto manage to grab the boy's hand and yank him up, barely missing Gong by a few hairs. Panting, the boy stumble away from the edge as far as he could. Yuto looked down to see Gong glare at them with so much rage. He then turned his back and lumber away, his chains still rattling.

Now Yuto wasn't sure if Gong could get up here, but he wasn't too keen on finding out. Yuto turned back to the boy pressed up against the wall. He carefully crouch down next to him.

"Hey." He greeted softly. The boy was shaking a little less now, but Yuto knew he was still very much afraid. "Are you okay?" The boy stared up at Yuto, looking almost a bit confused and startled. "Sorry. I uhh...that...'red lady' came up behind and drugged me. When I woke up I was in a completely different room. I had no idea what happen." The boy's eyes widen.

"Red lady hurt you too?"

"She drug you?" Yuto asked. The boy nods.

"With...with needle." Yuto was trying to figure out why the Red Lady would do that. Why would she drug this boy and leave him here? Did she know Gong would show up? Was she planning on getting this boy killed? That thought didn't sit right with Yuto.

"We should get going before...uhh...that guy finds a way up here." The boy nods and gets to his feet. The boy follows Yuto back out to the hallway he had came through. On the wall was a bloody arrow pointing left, but Yuto wasn't all to confident to continue following bloody messages made from the Red Lady. How was Yuto suppose to trust her? After all the trouble she has already caused?

"This way." The boy pointed down the left hallway.

"Are you sure?" Yuto asked quietly. The boy nods.

"Doctors took me this way lots of times before." Now the boy took the lead, guiding Yuto down the hallway, unknowingly following the blood. It was then that Yuto noticed that the boy was shivering. His clothes had dark, wet spots on them and he then remember that the boy was also barefooted, walking along the freezing cement floors of the asylum prison. Not only that but his right shoulder was painted red and his shirt was torn.

Wanting to return all the good this boy has done for him, Yuto reached up and removed his black cape and sets it on the boy's own shoulders. The boy jumps a bit but when he sees the cape he becomes curious and touches the fabric.

"Don't have anything to help your shoulder right now but you looked a little cold. Thought you could use it more than me. Did you fall in some water?" The boy nods.

"In the basement. Being chased by the Beast." Yuto could see the underlying fear in his eyes. "But I...I got the power on. You can leave."

"That's great! Now all we have to do is get to the lobby and we'll be home free." Yuto sighed in relief.

"We?" The boy repeated, seemingly a bit surprised.

"Well...yeah? I mean, I don't think you would want to stay here." Yuto shrugged. First the cape and now this. The boy hasn't had anyone be this kind to him in a long time. It was a nice change of pace for him.

"Thank...you." The boy manages the words with a small smile.

"No problem, umm..." Yuto broke off. "I just realized that I don't even know your name." The boy blinked. He knew his name.

Well, sort of. He knew what it looked like, but not how to pronounce it. No one had said his real name in a really long time. The doctors called him a different name, but he didn't like it too much. His name was Yuya, but after spending years in this asylum, speaking the English language wasn't his strong suit.

"Do you...not know your name?" Yuto asked quietly, his eyes soften. Yuya shook his head viciously and kept on imagining his name in his head in hopes that it would help him on how to say it.

"Y-Y-Yu...Yu. Name is Yuy..."

"Yui? Is that what you're trying to say?" Yuya just nods his head. It was probably the closest he was ever going to get and Yui was a much better name than what the doctors called him. "Oh, so your name is Yui, huh?" Yuya nods again, confirming it.

Now Yuto knew that Yui was a feminine name, rarely given to a male, which this boy clearly was, but he wasn't going to judge.

"My name is Yuto Obsidian. It's nice to meet you, Yui." He gave Yuya a smile back. "Now let's get out of here."

Poppy: "Hey guys! Sorry for the late update. Valentine has been sick for the past week."

Valentine (Off Stage): "The world sucks and everything is pain!"

Poppy: "Yeah...she should better in a few days. Don't worry. She's just a little cranky when she's ill. I mean, who wouldn't be, right? Anyway, we hope you enjoy this third chapter of Into the Game. Catch you all later!"
