Chapter three:
Hermione didn't sleep at all that night. Every time she tried she remembered how Snape's arms felt around her and her pulse would quicken again. No matter how hard she tried she couldn't get him off her mind. She was now in the Great Hall playing with a piece of toast when Dean came and sit beside her.
"Morning Mione."
"Good morning Dean." Hermione said without looking up.
She heard someone sit down on her other side but she was scared to look up because she knew her eyes would automatically search out Snape. Luckily she didn't have her private lesson with him tonight just regular potions. At least in a big class he couldn't notice her staring as much. Though she has noticed him paying more attention to her now. He also wasn't being as mean to her as he had been in the past. She wished she could believe it was because he felt something for her too, but she knew he never could.
"Hermione come on we're going to be late." Harry said tugging on her arm.
Hermione glanced up and noticed everyone else was leaving. She quickly gather her things and she and Harry rushed to the dungeons.
Snape's POV:
Severus had tried to push the Granger girl from his mind, but it was proving difficult. He wasn't sure why she kept creeping into his thoughts. He was still shocked she hadn't jerked away when he had touched her. In fact she looked like she wanted him to touch her. Her smile was warm and she looked happy.
He was trying to teach the seventh years but he wasn't focusing on anything but the way Granger was smiling at Potter. He wanted to see her smile at him like that again.
He was lost in thought when suddenly she was standing beside him.
"Professor I finished the essay." She said handing him her paper. His fingers brushed hers. He looked into her eyes and saw how her face lit up. Her cheeks flushed and she smiled brightly. He forced the smile growing on his lips away.
Hermione POV:
Hermione got up to hand Snape her essay she had just finished. Every time she stepped closer to him she got more and more butterflies in her stomach.
"Professor I finished my essay." She said. It looked like she had pulled him from a deep thought.
He reached to take the parchment and his hand touched hers. Hermione gasped and flushed. She wanted to grab his hand and pull him closer to her. She looked up into his eyes and was surprised to see a small smile on his face. It was tiny and he forced it away very quickly, but it lit up his face. He was breathtaking. When he pulled his hand away she just stared at him. She didn't stop looking at him until Harry came up behind her and handed Snape his essay. Harry three Hermione a weird look and nudged her shoulder. She jumped a little and stumbled after Harry out of the room. Once they left the room Harry turned on her.
"Mione are you okay?"
Hermione tried her best to act innocent.
"Yeah. I'm fine, I'm just a little tired. I couldn't sleep last night."
Harry looked skeptical. "Well after transfiguration you should go take a nap for free period."
"I think I will."
Harry pulled Hermione into a quick hug and they walked together to transfiguration. Hermione wanted nothing more then to go back to the dungeon and feel Snape touch her again.
