Previously in Meant to be…

"

- Well, started Sebastian, it's definitely easier when you're playing it with someone who has such a pretty face.

The crowed screamed at that, and Jeff laughed nervously. Nick couldn't stand it anymore. So he just stood up, and got out of the room. Jeff followed everyone eyes and looked at the boy who was quitting the room. His heart started racing. No… it was not… Was it Nick? "

Jeff narrowed his eyes and tried to look closer, but the guy was quickly out of sigh. Maybe he hallucinated, but what if it was really Nick? What if it was him giving the sign Jeff has been waiting for? Panicking a little, Jeff suddenly stood up.

- Excuse me guys, I'll be right back.

The fans seemed to be okay with it, but his coworkers, especially Sebastian looked weirdly at him. He walked past them, but when he was closed to the door, his heart racing at the sight of seeing Nick again, his PR stopped him.

- Where do you think you're going? Go back in there! Exclaimed Emily.

- I need some fresh air he answered quickly

But she stopped him again. He sighed.

- Jeff -

- I'll be right back okay, just… let me go it's important! He said, losing patience.

Emily raised an eyebrow. She never saw him so… eager before. So she just nodded and let go.

- You have 5 min. Do whatever you need to do and come back here quickly or I'll come get you!

Jeff ran out the door.

When Nick opened the door and got outside, he sighed and closed his eyes, trying to control his breathing. He was so angry at his friends! How could they do that to him? He should've been more careful, he knew it was weird that Trent, the biggest fan of Boys didn't buy a ticket to see the actors! How oblivious he had been… But In a way, he knew he couldn't really be mad at them, because they didn't know the real reason why he didn't want to see Jeff… He sighed again and sat on the bench, next to the door. Jeff… he thought he was over him. He thought he was doing great, getting his life back together, forgetting about the whole plane story… He really thought it was fine. But it clearly wasn't. Because when he saw him, his heart made him realize the truth: he was still unbelievably attracted to the guy. Nick shook his head, it was a mess…

The door opened again but it didn't bother to watch who was coming. He took his Iphone and tapped a text to Trent saying that they were in trouble. "I shouldn't have come here" he told himself, " I knew I shouldn't –

- Nick?

Nick froze and stared at his phone, not daring looking at the person, he knew who it was, he would have recognized this voice in a million...

Jeff arrived outside and saw the person he was looking for, sitting on a bench. His heart started beating fast; it was sure now, it was his beautiful stranger, right there in front of his eyes… He was still as handsome as the last time he saw him, wearing a tight black jean with a dark blue shirt and black shoes. Very classy, very him and Jeff loved it. What he didn't love though, was the look on his face… He looked angry and sad, almost pained… Jeff sighed. It was his time to act. So, it's a little anxious, that he got closer.

- Nick?

He saw the latter flinch, not answering.

- Nick? I- I know it's you –

- What do you want? He finally answered, harshly.

Their eyes met, and Jeff saw the angry look Nick was giving him. He cleared his throat.

- I just wanted to… make sure that everything's fine, I saw you running outside –

- Well, I'm fine mister Sterling , so you can go back to your stupid convention.

Woh. Nick was pretty impressed with himself; he never thought he would have the courage to talk that way to him…

Jeff on the other hand, knew that Nick hating him was a possibility, as he always knew he hated Boys, but seeing that it was a reality – Nick actually hated him – was harder than expected. He sighed.

- … Listen, I know you don't like Boys, but I'm not who you think I am, Nick –

- Aren't you? After all, you're dating that asshole of Sebastian –

- What? I'm not –

- Oh stop lying! Like I told you, my friends are fans of your show, so I know everything. It's not like it's a problem, you don't have to justify yourself to me anyway, because whatever happened in that plane…I'm no one, not famous, just a normal guy living a normal life. Worthless for you, right?

- What? How can you say that! I followed you for a reason, I waited for a sign –

- Oh right. After spending the whole plane acting like you didn't know anything about Boys or the main character, knowing that in fact you clearly do, as you ARE him!

- I did this for a reason, okay! I knew you were going to find out the truth anyway, I just wanted –

- You know what, you did the right thing. If you had told me your real identity, I wouldn't even have looked at you.

Nick saw the pained look on Jeff's face; the latter looked at the ground and nodded.

- I know. That's why I didn't want to tell you. When I realized you didn't know my show, at that moment, in that plane, for the first time since a very long time I wasn't Jeff the superstar of Boys, I was just me, Jeff. and it felt so good to finally have a normal conversation with someone of my age –

- Well I'm glad I was a great distraction –

- Stop it, that's not what I meant and you know it he snapped. Dammit, you don't get it, do you?

- What?

Jeff sighed and looked at Nick in the eyes.

- I like you, Nick.

Nick's eyes widened.

- W-what?

- I… After we sang, something just happened, I don't know, for the first time in my life, I felt… connected with someone. So, NO I'm not dating Sebastian, it's was a misunderstanding and I rectified everything, just look at the news of today. He sighed. I know you hate Boys, and I know I should have told you the truth, but I just couldn't. I was afraid of your reaction, I guess. But I still had some hope, that's why I searched for you and followed you, but then you didn't follow back, you didn't try anything, and I understood. You still hate me. and It's fine, I just –

- I don't hate you.

Jeff looked surprised and Nick smiled nervously.

- Y-you don't?

Nick stood up and came in front of Jeff.

- I was so mad when I discovered the truth… but I could never hate you. Because… he looked at the ground. By the time I got out of the plane and you were still a stranger for me…you already had my heart.

Jeff beamed at that and smiled at him. At that moment, someone burst out of the door.

- Jeff ! - started Emily.

- I know, I'm coming he told her, before turning to Nick . Give me your phone.

The latter executed and he tapped something quickly before giving it back.

- Text me, okay? He asked, hopeful.

Nick just nodded and smiled. Jeff gave him one last look before going back inside with a very confused Emily.

- Don't . ask . questions he told her.

She just nodded and looked at Nick before closing the door.

Nick sighed and sat again. Woh. He didn't except this day to turn that way, but he couldn't have been more pleased. Him and Jeff the billionaire and superstar of 17 years old just admitted having feelings for each other. God, he liked a boy and the boy actually liked him back! Was it real?. He didn't really know what he was getting himself into, there were still a lot of complications and before going any further with Jeff he was going to make sure that Jeff is really what he wants, but on that very moment, all he cared about was that it felt great. In the end, wasn't it what really matters?

The convention ended, and Nick waited outside. He saw his friends practically running out the door, and relaxed when they saw him. The six of them came to him, feeling guilty. He rolled his eyes.

- Listen, started Trent, we're so sorry, but we couldn't tell you!

- Yeah we really wanted you to come! Agreed Kurt, and we knew you were going to say no if you knew about the meeting –

- We're sorry we lied added Blaine.

Nick laughed a little, at their surprise.

- Guys it's fine, really. I'm not mad. Well, I was, but it's fine now. I may even thank you for bringing me here he said, winking at them.

They all looked at him, confused.

- And why's that? Asked David

Because I found him again.

- Oh you know, it just wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Anywaaay, How was the meeting? He asked, as they walked in direction of the car.

- Well, the beginning was… weird, said Wes, Jeff ran out at a moment –

- Yeah that was awkward said Thad; he seemed in such a hurry to get out! Wonders what happened…

- Hmm simply said Nick, secretly smiling.

While listening to Thad's rent, he took his phone and laughed when he saw the name Jeff putted in his phone. The boys looked at him.

- Glad to see that you're listening to what I'm saying! Said Thad.

Nick quickly sent a message and putted his phone away.

- Sorry, continue!

- So, as I was saying, the girl asked to Sebastian what was challenging in…

Jeff was now in the limo with the cast, who kept asking what happened to him but he reassured them all. His phone buzzed and he raised an eyebrow at the unknown number.

323 734-8810: " "Your not-so-mysterious guy" ? Really?"

Jeff smiled widely.

"Well, I needed a pseudonym :p If you have better, just tell! " – J

"How about Jeff?" – N

Jeff rolled his eyes.

"Like everyone, I'm sure you have friends who watch your phone sometimes. They'll know, we can't take the risk." – J

"What is there to know… ? I mean, despite the fact that you're a celebrity, nothing else is going on ;)" – N

"Isn't that big enough?" – J

"They wouldn't believe me anyway. And you know what I really meant. " – N

" I know." – J

Nick sighed. He waited 5 good minutes before sending the next message, not really sure.

" I've never… I never had a relationship with someone before. " – N

" Really?" – J

" Yeah, I know I'm almost 18 and it's pathetic…" – N

"It's really not. I only had one real boyfriend, and it was way before the whole fame thing. " – J

Nick's eyes widened at that. Thad noticed.

- Who are you talking to?

- What? Oh! Hum, just Eli, he's telling me about his holidays…

- Must be very interesting, seeing your reaction… What is he saying?

- Oh, you know… I don't think I can tell, you'll have to ask him. You know how he is about his private life…

Thad laughed and looked at the road again. Nick sighed. He'll need to get better at lying! He shook his head and got back to his messages.

" What, you? the superstar, billionaire, demanded guy Jeff Sterling had only one boyfriend? I don't believe it." – N

" It's true! I had some demands yes, but I declined them. I just… wasn't feeling it. I was waiting for that connection, you know, when you feel that it's right? It never came. So I flirted with some guys sometimes but it never went further than that, after my ex. Anyway, so you don't have to feel ashamed or pressured ;) " – J

Nick felt relieved, and really surprised. He thought Jeff was more of the party- screwing type… Yeah he was agreeably surprised. His phone buzzed again.

" I gotta go, I have some interviews to do… but I'll talk to you tonight?" – J

" Sure :) Bye Jeff"

" Bye Nick ;) "

In the night they would talk, then the day after, and the next day… and soon enough, it was a routine. During the day, each of them were doing what they needed to do, and in the night, they would call each other and talk, get to know each other. After being harassed by Jeff for it, Nick finally followed him. It was fun for Nick to read his tweets, he realized that stars weren't that honest with their fans… Because, after the last convention, Jeff twitted "It was so fun seeing you guys! So sad it's over!" when actually, on the phone with Nick he said " Oh god, you don't know how glad I am that it's over, it's so tiring!" Nick laughed, thinking about it. He liked the fact that Jeff was honest with him.

In fact, he liked the boy more and more everyday…

We were Friday, only 3 days left before going back to school, and Nick was doing his homework. His phone buzzed, he sighed. He told his friends several times that he didn't like to be bothered when he was working… He grabbed his phone and raised his eyebrows in surprise; it was Jeff calling him.

- Hello he said with a surprise voice.

- Huh hey, I know it's not our usual hour, I hope I'm not bothering…

- No, it's fine… What's going on?

- Well… I'm going back to L.A tomorrow morning, so I thought I'll do a little stop by, around Westerville to… see you.

- Y-You want to see me? Today?

- Yeah, I think we should talk.

That talk about where they were standing in their relationship with all the complications involved, Nick tried to avoid it as much as he could. But he knew it needed to come, eventually.

- Okay

Jeff smiled.

- Okay?

Nick laughed nervously.

- Yeah. You're right, we do need to talk, before you go back to L.A.

- Great. So, tonight, around 7? Text me your address and I'll send someone to pick you up.

- It's okay, I can drive, just give me the address -

- Come on, It's fine. I have a driver, he's here for that. Just be ready for 7.

- Okay, thanks.

- I'll see you tonight, okay? It's a date.

Nick smiled tenderly at that.

- Yes, it is.

It was almost 7, and Nick was ready. He wore a tight grey jean with a white shirt and a black blazer. He put on his black shoes and got downstairs. His parents were in the living room, his father working on his laptop and his mother, reading a magazine. Actually, her magazine, as she was the editor – in - chief of the magazine "ELLE".

When she saw her son, she putted off her glasses. Nick rolled his eyes.

- Honey, you're going out somewhere?

His father looked up and watched him from head to toes.

- Hum yeah, I'm going to David's house; he decided to throw a party before we all go back to Dalton on Monday.

- Well, you're sure very well dressed for a simple party said his father.

- Dad...

His mother retained her excitement.

- Will there be… someone special at this party?

Nick sighed. He was really grateful that his parents were supportive and really open – minded, his coming out hadn't been hard at all, but what annoyed him was their enormous interest in his private life. Every time he tells them that he's going out, they would freak out, like they were doing right now.

- I don't know Mom, okay?

- Oh come on! You know you can tell us –

- Helen, leave the poor guy alone, he'll tell us when he's ready. Said his father, going back to his work.

- But there's nothing to tell! Exclaimed Nick, tired. Just – I'm going now, okay? See you later.

- Bye honey. And have fun with him!

Nick rolled his eyes and closed the door. When he turned, he gasped. A driver was standing in front of a limousine, smiling at him.

- What… said Nick, approaching.

The driver opened the door.

- Good evening, mister Duval.

- Hum, Hi… where are we going?

The driver smiled.

- I'm not allowed to tell, sorry.

- Of course.

20 min passed, and they still weren't arrived… Nick, hating surprises, took his phone and dialed a number.

- Hello?

- Where I am going? I'm pretty sure we're out of Westerville; I've been in this limousine for 20 mins now! and about that, a limo? Really Jeff?

The latter laughed.

- It's not funny! Are you planning on kidnapping me? because –

The car suddenly stopped, and someone opened his door. He looked and there, was Jeff in front of him, still on the phone, smiling at him. He was wearing a black suit.

- Hey you. he said, laughing.

Nick laughed, feeling silly, and hang up. He got out of the car and looked around. They were in the middle of… nowhere. There was just a forest in front of them. Nick frowned.

- Seriously, it's getting creepy now –

- It's not here said Jeff, laughing harder. It's in a very… isolated place, to avoid the paparazzi… You have to put that in front of your eyes though.

Nick looked at the red headband in Jeff's hand.

- Why?

- Like I said, it's a surprise. I'm not going to sequester you, don't worry. Just – follow the instructions please?

Nick sighed.

- Okay, but don't make me fall!

Jeff putted the headband on Nick's eyes, and grabbed his hand. He smiled when he saw the latter blushing at their entwined hands. They walked for 5 good minutes, and then Jeff stopped.

- We're arrived.

- God, finally!

Jeff laughed.

- Okay, you're ready?

- Yeah, yeah.

Jeff took off the headband and Nick gasped when he saw the place. They were in the middle of the woods, but it was furnished. In the middle was placed a table for two, with red flowers, candles, and plates. In the back, a reputed chief was there, live cooking. On the other side, musicians were present, ready to start, body guards were in the back, and finally, two servants were there, holding drinks. They were all staring gently at Nick who was still in shock. There were red and white lights hanging everywhere, it was amazingly beautiful. Nick looked at Jeff, his mouth opened. Jeff laughed at his reaction.

- I take it that you like it, great! I was afraid it was a little too much…

- Are you kidding, this is… this is… wow I can't believe you did all of this for me… he told him, emotional.

They stared at each other; Jeff took his hand and squeezed it.

- Come on, let's eat! I hope you're hungry; he's the best chief I know.

- I'm starving!

They ate, joked, laughed, drank…. Nick was having the time of his life. He couldn't stop looking around, not believing that it was actually happening to him right now. He looked at Jeff who was laughing, and smiled lovingly. He was falling, falling hard for him.

- God, I think I'm full for a week! Exclaimed Nick, eating his last bite of chocolate cake.

- Told you he's the best chief answered Jeff, laughing.

Nick sighed.

- We should talk.

Jeff nodded and stood up.

- Let's walk a little.

They walked in a comfortable silence.

- So… started Nick.

They stopped walking.

- I think after all of this I made my intentions pretty clear, but I'm still going to say it… I want to be with you, Nick. I never felt so comfortable with someone, and I just - I love everything about you. I know it's going to be complicated, with the fame, and we don't even live in the same city and maybe it's too much, maybe you don't want that, so –

Nick stopped him by kissing him. At first he panicked, having absolutely no idea of what the hell he was doing, his heart beating faster by minutes, but then Jeff responded to the kiss and woh, it was perfect. The perfect kiss, with the perfect guy, on the perfect night…Nick never felt so alive; it was the best feeling in the world.

He broke the kiss, and this time it was Jeff who was speechless. Nick laughed.

- I needed to stop you from your cute, but stressful usual rambling. He said, teasing him.

- Does this means…

- Yes, I want to be with you too, silly. Thought it was obvious by now. The whole celebrity – distance thing… we'll figure it out, we'll make it work.

- You're sure?

- I'm sure that I want to be with you. That's the only thing that really counts.

Jeff relaxed, and smiled lovingly. He took his hand.

- You're right.

When they got back to the place, Jeff asked Nick to sit and wait.

- What are you going to do now?

- Just wait and see he said winking.

Jeff rejoined the musicians, he nodded at one of them, and then the music started, Jeff stared at his new boyfriend and began to sing.

What if I told you it was all meant to be
Would you believe me
Would you agree
It's almost that feelin'
We've met before
So tell me that you don't think I'm crazy
When I tell you love has come here now

A moment like this
Some people wait a lifetime
For a moment like this
Some people search forever
For that one special kiss

He winked at Nick, who laughed through his tears.

Ohh, I can't believe it's happening to me
Some people wait a lifetime
For a moment like this

Everything changes
But beauty remains
Something so tender
I can't explain
Well I maybe dreamin'
But 'till I awake
Can we make this dream last forever

That's what Nick wished; he wished this perfect night would last forever.

A moment like this
Some people wait a lifetime
For a moment like this
Some people search forever
For that one special kiss
Ohh, I can't believe it's happening to me
Some people wait a lifetime
For a moment like this

Could this be the greatest love of all
I wanna know that you will catch me when I fall
So let me tell you this

He knew it wasn't going to be easy, but listening to this perfect boy serenading him, he was confident. They'll make it work. It was worth it.

Some people wait a lifetime

For a moment like this
Some people wait a lifetime
For a moment like this
Some people search forever
For that one special kiss
Ohh, I can't believe it's happening to me
Some people wait a lifetime
For a moment like this

Ohh
Like this

Nick stood up, and hugged Jeff tightly.

- Thank you, it was beautiful. Thank you for this perfect night.

Jeff smiled and kissed his hair.

It was now 12 pm and Nick needed to go home. They took the limo, and 30min later, they were in front of his house. Nick sighed. He didn't want to say goodbye yet. Jeff smiled, understanding.

- I'll come back soon, I'll try to come next weekend. You'll give me a little visit of Dalton.

Nick laughed a little.

- Did you forget who you are? Everyone is going to freak out if they see you! But I'll find a way to show you around during the night.

Jeff smiled and kissed him.

- See you very soon.

Nick nodded and got out of the limousine. When he entered home, he directly went to bed, sighing contently.

Best. Night. Ever.

Hope you liked it!
