I wasn't super happy with this chapter so I'm rewriting it, to hopefully make it longer and better. Please review, favourite or follow - it only takes a second and it'd not only make my day but also make me want to update faster XD

"So ," said Bruce awkwardly , breaking the silence.

All the Avengers , with the exception of Thor , were seated in the Helicarrier after being summoned by Fury.

Bruce was surprised that the Helicarrier was up and running again, though this was S.H.I.E.l.D so he probably shouldn't have been.

They probably had a spare one in case anything happened to the one they were using.

"So ," echoed Natasha , glancing at Clint to see what he made of all this.

Each of the seated Avengers were wondering why they had been called back and each of them were developing their own theories.

Natasha for instance was hoping that there was some sort of assassin or spy that they needed to detain and question.

Clint assumed that this had something to do with the recent terrorist attacks on Iran.

Steve thought that they were perhaps being recruited to to protect America against any threats.

Bruce had a feeling that this was about the government wanting to keep tabs on them, or something of the sort.

"I guess you're all wondering why you've been called back here ," began Fury, as soon as he walked in.

"I assume this has something to do with the recent Gamma explosion in Brazil and the alleged sighting of a female version of the Hulk ?" asked Tony.

Tony it seems, knew all along.

"Do you want to conduct this meeting , Stark? " Fury asked sarcastically.

"Just voicing my thoughts ," replied Tony mildly.

"What explosion? And what about a female hulk ?" Bruce asked, looking stressed.

"I'd like to second that question" Clint added.

"What rock have you been living under? The explosion was all over the news," Tony said, looking amused.

"There were no TV's where I was," Bruce explained, remembering the complete awe the villagers had gazed at him in when Fury's private jet had arrived for him.

"No TV ?" Tony exclaimed."How did you survive?"

"Enough!" Fury growled, glaring at Tony."Last Saturday - seven days ago to be precise - there was a huge Gamma explosion in a military lab in about two days days ago locals spotted - and took a picture of what seems to be a She-Hulk."

"A She-Hulk?" Natasha repeated, looking horrified and sharing a private look with Clint.

"Right, a She-Hulk," said Fury, with pursed lips

"So what does that mean?" Steve asked.

"We don't know, but I was hoping maybe Dr Banner would."

"I have no idea how that could be possible - all my research was destroyed, and I don't know of anyone who could have done something like this."

"Whoever it was we have to find him..or her, and to do that we have to find that She-Hulk," Steve said, looking around for confirmation.

"I'm sending the Avengers out to Brazil to locate and bring this Hulk back here," Fury stated.

"And what do you plan on doing with her once we bring her back?" Tony asked.

"We find out who she's working for, and whether or not she's a threat to S.H.I.E.L.D."

"And if she's not ?" asked Bruce."What if she's completely innocent and just a victim? What then?"

Fury frowned.

"I don't know".

Fury had just finished briefing them on their mission when the door of the conference room opened and a middle-aged , balding man walked in looking like he owned the place.

"Fury ," he exclaimed ,"There you are - that Hill woman wouldn't tell me anything".

"Agent Hill has been given orders not to let me be disturbed," Fury said, glaring at the man.

"You seem to forget that I have much more authority than you - any orders you may give don't apply to me."

"And who exactly are you?" asked Tony , looking very much amused.

"Councilman Davies - I have been sent here to monitor the situation at S.H.I.E.L.D."

"What situation?" Natasha asked, arching an eyebrow as she leaned slightly forward.

"There's no situation at S.H.I.E.L.D ," interrupted Fury.

"I wasn't aware that there was a situation at S.H.I.E.L.D," Tony said, eyeing the man curiously.

"That's because there isn't," Fury said scowling.

"And are you usually aware of everything , ?" Davies asked looking interested and completely ignored Fury.

"Well yes actually ," said Tony.

"I see ," said Davies.

He whipped out a small notebook and and wrote the words 'security breach' down , making sure that Fury - and the Avengers saw what he had written.

Fury glared at him.

Natasha felt a wave of indignation on Fury's part.

Tony laughed.

"Situation huh?" he said.

"Yes - a very serious council has sent me here to monitor it and to take action should it get any worse."

"Davies," Fury said warningly.

"So what exactly is happening here?" Davies asked, once again ignoring Fury.

"None of your damn business," Fury growled.

"You're wrong Nick - everything here is my business."

Bruce glanced around him and saw that none of the avengers looked particularly happy with this development.

Clint was eyeing Davies scornfully, while Natasha was staring daggers at the man with such ferociousness that Bruce felt a shiver run down his spine.

Steve didn't seem to like the man much, but maybe he was just confused and didn't understand what was happening.

Tony definitely disliked the guy. He had noticed a while back that Tony seemed to have a problem with authority, especially with authority figures that he didn't trust.

Davies looked around him and seemed to realise that he hadn't made a particularly great impression on the Avengers.

He glared at Fury before turning to stopped at the door and turned around.

"I'd like a report on whatever it was you were discussing with the Avengers on my desk- you might want to remember that while I'm here I'm in charge, not you."

He left leaving Fury glaring at the door angrily
