A/N: Hello again. Long time no see... I'm really, truly, terribly SORRYYYY. I haven't written anything in months and I'd almost forgotten about this story, only to find out I already had this chapter typed out months ago, but forgot to post it -_- Seriously so pissed at myself. But I am SO continuing this, especially after all the reviews/faves/follows I got. A big THANK YOU for that!
Soooo, sorry for any errors in this, just ignore or tell me. And sooooo soooooo sorry for the long wait. Now I'll stop my (surprisingly short - for me) rant and let y'all read this long-awaited (but written long ago) chapter. :D
Enjoy~
XxXxX Chapter 3 XxXxX
"Sebastian!" Ciel called, his voice loud in the barely-used pent-house, despite the heavy thud of rain outside. Sebastian stopped washing a glass - for the twelfth time, due to boredom - in favour of glancing back to where he had heard his master's call.
Quickly putting the glass down in the sink to be dried later, he wiped his hands on a spare kitchen rag and made his way to the living room.
It had been a week and a half since they had arrived to Shinjuku, Japan, and yet, Sebastian was already bored. He had been here many times in the past, when he wasn't yet bound to Ciel, but that had been during the isolationist years the country was first in. Now, the country was a blossoming, technologically advanced nation.
But that wasn't the reason he was growing bored. It was because of his young master. Ciel had been cooped up in the house for the entire stay, claiming to be too tired from jetlag to want to go out for a trip. Sebastian could've sworn it was because Ciel now had access to Japanese television, and all the anime in the world to watch, but he wouldn't mention it.
And so, he found his master in the same position he was now accustomed to be in: on the couch with a large blanket draped over him, watching the Plasma TV and pigging out with all the junk food he could eat. After all, Ciel was now a demon, and gluttony couldn't cause obesity.
Ciel didn't turn around when he spoke, though it was obvious who he was acknowledging.
"I need you to go out and pick up a few things. First, I want you to go around and meet some locals. Chat with people in the building for all I care. I'm planning to attend school for two years here, so find a good school that I can go to. After that, pick up some pastries. I've been craving something sweet. Oh, some beer too." Ciel ignored the way Sebastian coughed a little. Ciel sometimes liked to get drunk, although Sebastian (for some reason he couldn't phantom, since he was over a century old) didn't approve.
"And lastly, a man will meet you at Shinjuku Station at a food cart that's opening near there. It'll be open at around 8 tonight; you can't miss it. He'll give you a file I asked for. Oh, and also, I want you to buy a nice car. Dump the limo for all I care. It draws too much attention. Then you can come home."
"So you want me to stay out all day? Any specific reason?" Sebastian couldn't help it. He always got curious of the actions his master did. There was always a reason for everything.
Ciel eyed him out of the corner of his left eye for a moment before looking back at the TV.
"None. So, am I clear on my instructions?"
Sebastian bowed, though he knew Ciel wouldn't turn to look.
"Yes, my lord."

"Mairu, Kururi, how many times have I told you to NOT come over, especially on a weekend? I'm a busy man, you know." Izaya frowned as he turned his chair to watch his sisters enter his office.
Mairu, as usual, was the one who answered.
"But Iza-nii! We asked you to come to the theatres with us to watch Yuuhei's movie re-run, and you rejected us. Of course we had to come and pick you up!"
Izaya rubbed his temples. He'd been up for the last two nights, working on finding new information on a series of killings in Shibuya, and his migraine had been acting up. And just when he was about to go to his room to catch a couple of hours of sleep, his sisters had to barge in and demand him to watch a movie with them, a movie of a man who's brother he wanted dead.
He stood up, slowly to make a better impression of how serious he was to his younger siblings. When he was standing upright, he raised his head and looked them both in the eyes.
"I'm going to Shibuya for work." He reached into his back pocket and took out his wallet, taking out a few bills. "Here's the money for the movie. Have fun."
Grabbing his coat, he swiftly slid it up his arms as he practically ran out the door in his hurry to leave his sisters. It's not like he didn't like them, it's just that they were too much work to put up with. And he didn't have the energy, or the patience, to put up with them today.
The two twins both frowned, but grinned when they saw how much free money they were able to get from their older brother. Izaya never took good care of his spending, since he was always able to get money when he wanted it, so he gave them much more than they would need for a simple movie.
Well, it looked like a trip around Ikebukuro for them.

Sebastian tapped his foot lightly to the music playing in the background of the grocery store he was in. He had already switched the limo for a Chevrolet Cruze, knowing his young master still wanted something to show off his wealth, but with more subtlety. Now, he was looking for fresh foods to buy to make dinner tonight, as well as wondering what to make for dessert.
Making his way over to the vegetables, he gave a little hum as he wondered which lettuce would be better for a salad. He wasn't used to the brands in Japan, so he just put them both in his shopping cart. Walking over to the bread aisle when he was done with the vegetables, he raised an eyebrow as he saw someone familiar skip by.
And when he says skip, he means skip.
He followed the young man with his eyes, smiling slightly when he realised that the male was lightly swaying with, most likely, the music playing in his headphones. He recognized the man, and he didn't have to stretch too far in his memory to come up with a name to match the face.
Izaya.
He hadn't completely forgotten about the human after he had seen him either. After all, this man, in particular, had left quite an impression on the old demon. This human who was fast, skilled, and completely, foolishly, headstrong, going in the face of danger with a playful grin, as if it was fun. Which, Sebastian presumed, would be for someone who didn't have to worry due to unmatched dexterity.
And he couldn't help the want he felt, the aching desire, to get to know this man in person. Despite being a demon who got to know some pretty spectacular people on a regular basis, due to his reckless boss, he still wanted to get to know this one man by himself.
But why?
Sebastian took a step towards the man who was now bobbing his head to the music, swaying his shopping basket with his left hand as he read the ingredients to a brownie pack with his right. After the first step, he found his courage to keep going, pushing his cart with him.
He could feel the adrenaline in his body, adrenaline that had been dormant for years.
What is with this feeling?
He stepped to the side of Izaya and reached out a hand to pat the man's back, but paused short of its target. He clenched and unclenched his hand a couple of time, feeling... feeling...
Excitement?
Taking a deep breath - one he didn't need, but figured the concept of humans taking breaths for encouragement may help him too - he inched his hand the final few centimetres and patted Izaya's shoulder.
Izaya turned, dropping the brownie box in his basket before pushing off his headphones so they rested at the nape of his neck instead.
And such a pale, white neck it is. He looks so fragile, yet I have a feeling he can hold his own just as well as a man who is three times his weight in muscle. But I guess the agility comes with his leanness and I'm sure his legs are quite toned. Maybe he does running for a sport or -
"Can I help you?"
It dawned on Sebastian that the young man had his full attention turned to him, and was asking a question. He shook his head once to get it clear, marvelling at how this man was able to make his, usually attentive, mind wander.
"Oh, um, yes, I suppose you could." Here, Sebastian put on a smile, hoping he looked polite instead of creepy. "I would like to know whe-"
But he was interrupted by the man snapping his fingers in front of his face, startling him out of his attempt at a half-assed excuse for drawing his attention. He realised Izaya had been staring at him curiously ever since he turned, but now he was beaming as he figured out whatever it was his mind was trying to recollect.
"Aren't you one of the two who interrupted my fight with Shizu-chan? Um, let's see. The kid had called you a name, mm, Oh! Sebastian Michaelis!" Izaya grinned at him.
Sebastian blinked. "You seem to have quite the memory."
"Haha, yeah. Oh, sorry, let me introduce myself. I'm an informant, the famous Orihara Izaya." Izaya reached out a hand and Sebastian shook it as he raised an eyebrow.
"Famous? Quite conceited, aren't we?"
Izaya shook his head with a light smile, one that showed that he knew things that Sebastian didn't, but Sebastian pushed no further as Izaya actually answered his pretty rhetorical question.
"Oh, yeah, people tell me that all the time. But unlike some, or well, a lot of people I happen to know, I'm not someone with bark and no bite. I can back up all my statements, and my information is always true."
"Are you advertising your services to me?"
Izaya laughed, and Sebastian realised he liked the sound. It was so different being around this enthusiastic informant than it was with his usual, stoic master who barely laughed unless necessary.
The two walked to the next aisle for milks and eggs, and Izaya grabbed a bottle of juice.
"Well, are you interested in my services?" When Sebastian shook his head, Izaya shrugged. "But anyways, if you do need them, as long as you can pay, then you're more than welcome to come to me. I know pretty much everything needed to know in Tokyo."
He drew out a business card and passed it to Sebastian, who took it with care as they went to the cashiers to pay.
After they were done getting all the groceries, Sebastian offered the young male a ride home, which Izaya agreed to.
As he was buckled in and the car started, Izaya turned to Sebastian again.
"I'm curious. I get you're not from here and all, so you probably didn't know about me and Shizu-chan, but most people sense danger when they see it, and go in the opposite direction. Why didn't you run?"
Sebastian glanced at the male for a moment before looking back at the road.
"I saw no reason to. I can handle myself pretty well."
"And how about the child? He came out of nowhere."
Sebastian frowned. He couldn't exactly tell Izaya about his master, or about their demon selves, but he felt a thrill when talking to Izaya that he was not used to. Izaya had a personality that he rarely saw in humans, and he hadn't felt this excited meeting a human that interested him for centuries. The last human to get him riled up was...
My young lord.
And yet, Ciel didn't need to know about Izaya. He didn't need to know about them meeting, or talking, or Sebastian's growing interest in Izaya. After all, Sebastian had no doubt in his mind that Ciel would order him to stop meeting the informant if he knew that Sebastian's attention was wavering from anyone other than him.
Ciel had managed to keep a firm reign on Sebastian for so long, not only through the contract, but also the assurance that he was the only one that Sebastian would ever crave for.
Sebastian didn't understand why, but Izaya had already captured his full attention.
XxXxX An Amalgamation XxXxX
Izaya adored meeting new people. Usually, it was for the power gained through the knowledge that there would be no surprises when he had to meet someone he knew absolutely nothing about. But occasionally, it was for the anticipation he felt on delving into someone else's life, carding through their pasts and taking advantage of their miseries. And there was always the happiness he felt at seeing someone new enter his turf, and - in conclusion - enter his ebb and flow of the city. He could gain new pawns, to manipulate at his own will, whether they wanted it or not.
But there was also the rare occasion where he would meet someone who he found appealing, interesting enough to give his own identity and time away for them. And he could feel it in the depths of his bones, in the flow of his veins, and in the beat of his heart that this was one such occasion. Sitting in a car with a complete stranger, who he had actually forgotten to do a background check on beforehand, and chatting as if they had been long lost friends, made him realize with a start that he didn't know who the hell he was actually talking to.
Sure, the man was nice, and wise enough to have pleasant conversation with, but there was something in the pure red eyes that made Izaya's heart rate increase. It was both terrifying and exhilarating, and he made a mental note to make sure that he did do a background check as soon as he got home. But, as suspicious as it should have made him to have this man offer him a ride home, he couldn't help but feel some sort of odd mutual trust steadily building between them. This man was different then most - if not all - humans he had the pleasure of encountering.
It was probably the aura he emanated, confidence and strength seeping out of every pore. Or maybe Izaya was looking too far into it. There was a highly unlikely chance that the man was not a human, and Izaya hating raising his expectations, only to have them crumble.
As he gave the directions to his flat, he realized - with a start - that he really didn't mind not knowing every detail on the man he was with. He wanted to get to know Sebastian through Sebastian himself, and he grinned as he figured that this was an entirely new game he could create. It was abnormal and risky, but when has that ever stopped the greatest informant alive?
Sebastian parked at the curb of the building and swooped out of his door to run to the other side of the car, opening the passenger door and holding it as Izaya gracefully stepped out. The informant grinned.
"Even opening the door for me. If I didn't know any better, than I'd say you've just brought me home from a date," he gave Sebastian a sidelong glance. "But then again, I really don't know any better, do I?"
Sebastian raised an eyebrow, a small smirk gracing his lips in turn. "Are you flirting with me, Mr. Informant?"
Izaya grinned and deliberately chose not to answer, opting to pick up his groceries instead. Sebastian reached over and carried a bag to take the load off the small male, and Izaya allowed him to.
As he made his way into his apartment, he gave a silent thanks to nobody that his sisters' had left. He bid farewell to his new colleague, choosing not to ask him in for tea in case he was being too presumptuous and annoying Sebastian with clinging to him for too long. Or maybe it was because he wanted time to mull over this new budding relationship, and wonder as to where it was heading.
After all, Sebastian was a very interesting human indeed. There was no way on Earth that Izaya would loosen his hold on him, at least not yet. The man was smart, handsome, and, above all, a complete mystery. One that he would unravel without the help of the unbiased internet and extremely bias rumors.
The two had promised to meet again sometime soon. Izaya had made sure to be subtle and nonchalant about it, though there was no denying the enthusiasm he felt at such an assurance. He was so excited to get started on this new game that he almost, almost, forgot that he had originally headed out in order to dig up dirt on his tough case with the murders.
He thumped his head against the plaster of his wall.
