Demigod dreams sucked. And guess what? Yup, Leo had one. He found himself standing in front of a cosy workshop, and he immediately knew what was about to happen. A young Leo and a tall, pretty Latino woman that looked a lot like him came out together. Leo remembered this day so vividly, the pain still just as strong.

He was to far away to hear their conversation, but he saw her smiling.

The last smile that Esperanza Valdez would give her son.

As she walked back into the workshop, he saw Gaia rise and attack the building, his younger self trying to open the doors. Then, the fire started, and Leo stared at Gaia's smile with pure loathing. As he heard his mother's last screams, Gaia unexpectedly turned to face him.

''You see hero? Your mother's death was all your fault. You deserve to burn and die like her. I shall rise and take over the world, and you and your so called friends won't be alive to see it.'' she rasped, earthy tendrils snaking around her as the workshop burned behind them.

The flames got larger and larger until they swallowed him up, and all he could see was the bright orange lights that had taken his mother from him. He closed his eyes as the roar of the flames grew louder.

Leo woke up screaming and with his arms on fire. Charming. He wanted the pain of her death to stop aching, but right now his fire was out of his control, burning like it had that night, with no mercy. He wanted to disappear, but the flames were rising, taking over...

''-eo! Leo! LEO VALDEZ!''

When he heard that familiar voice, it anchored him back to reality. The flames died down.

''P-Piper?'' he stuttered, as his vision slowly came back.

He was suddenly enveloped in a bone-crushing hug from two people.

''Leo! we were so worried! You were out for hours!'' he heard Jason say, although it was a bit muffled because they were still hugging. Eventually they let go.

''You saved me from that pigeon, but you got hurt in the process. Oh Leo, I'm so sorry!'' Piper exclaimed, tears leaking out of her eyes topped off with an expression of guilt.

''Hey, Beauty Queen, don't fuss. I chose to dive in front of it like a maniac. Anyways, I'm fine now!'' said Leo, and he shifted to get up, but black spots danced in his vision, and he suddenly felt very dizzy.

''Or not,'' he said, his complexion paling. Jason sat him back down.

''Leo, you lost quite a bit of blood from that wound. We bandaged it up but you should still take some ambrosia.'' he explained, handing him a square of the godly food.

Leo gratefully took the piece and nibbled on it as the taste of his mum's homemade tacos filled his mouth. His eyes watered, remembering the dream that he had just experienced.

Don't think about that now, Leo. Your friends are watching.

Suddenly, a thought dawned on him.

''Guys, um, has the engine acted up while I was out?''

Piper looked confused. ''No, why?''

''Well, I was in the middle of fixing it, but it's not quite done yet-''

As if on cue, there was a low moan from the engine room, and the ship listed sideways.

Leo leapt up, despite feeling lightheaded, and said ''I need to fix that engine NOW of this ship will capsize!'', while stumbling unsteadily to the engine room.

Piper and Jason exchanged a glance.
