Where I Belong
Chapter 3
"Rin! Welcome back!"
That was the first thing the half demon heard once he walked in to his Cram Class, he looked around to see smiles from Shiemi, Konekomaru and Shima, a glare from Suguro, a normal expression from Izumo and of course a sleepy Takara with his hand puppet. He was glad to be back here after being basically trapped cause his younger brother, who at the time wasn't here at the moment. He head to his desk and sat in his regular place.
Man, it's actually good to be back here… Rin thought to himself with a smile, he placed his bag and his sealed Kurikara down; Rin took a quick glance of his Demon Heart knowing that he was trapped there. Getting back to his senses, he looked back to see the striped hair monk giving him his trademark glare.
"Where the hell were you, idiot?" He asked, "You weren't that sick to skip class for three days straight."
"Tell that to Yukio, not me." Rin replied casually, "It sucks, I was trapped in my room forced to sleep."
"Don't you sleep in class anyway?" Shima asked, making Rin look on with that question.
"Y-yeah but at the same time I'm learning aren't I?" He answered to which Suguro snorted at the answer.
"Sure, and you still have the lowest marks in class next to Shima's"
"Hey!" Both Rin and Shima yelled simultaneously.
"R-Rin..." Shiemi spoke up, gaining the half demon's attention. "Well I'm glad that you're recovered now. We were all worried about you when didn't return to class."
"Thanks Shiemi." Rin smiled at her, to which she smiled back. It was then Yukio walked into his class.
"Alright now, class is about to start now." He began, walking to his own desk; he took a quick glance at his older brother before gaining his posture. "Glad to see that you've finally decided to come back Okumura." With this Rin's eye twitched.
"I would have been here earlier if someone wasn't being so stubborn." Rin growled, but Yukio just ignored it.
"I hope you've all done your assignments that I've given you."
The half demon's eyes shifted around, because he knows for a fact that he didn't complete it let alone touch the work he was given. Once Yukio collected the work from the rest of his students, he went back to Rin, expecting him to give him the work.
"Well, where is your work Okumura?" The young teacher asked, even though he knew the answer, he wanted to humiliate his older brother a bit. Just like old times.
"I…haven't done it." Was the answer that Rin gave him, the only answer that his brain had.
"Your reason for would be?" Yukio asked, raising an eyebrow, he tried to hardest not smile.
"I was sick." Yukio, and everyone in the room knew that he was a bad liar. The young teacher sighed and walked back to his desk.
"Very well then, I would want it done by the next lesson." He began, "Understood Rin?"
"Got it." Rin sighed.
It was good to have Rin back.
"Do it again." Shura ordered.
"I've been doing this for a straight hour yelled!" Rin yelled in frustration. After his lessons with Yukio, Shura, who glad to see that Rin had recovered, dragged him out to the training grounds for Rin to train on his flames and sword techniques. The flame haired exorcist just shook her head in disappointment, taking another sip of her beer.
"Aw come on Rin." She started, "I thought you were getting better at this…"
"So did I..." Rin admitted.
"Well don't you worry; I'm here to help ya help remember?" She grinned, to which Rin groaned as a reply. She placed three more candles in front of the blue haired demon. It was the usual training; light the two candles, leaving the middle alone at the same time, something that sounds so basic was of course was a complicated thing for Rin.
"How about this, stop thinking too hard and focus on what actually needs to be lit." She suggested.
"Huh, now I think about it, I am thinking too hard about it." Rin thought, scratching the back of his head, "I actually need to light wicks then the actual candle. Okay just a little fire…Rin closed his eyes as he concentrated, knowing on what to burn and what not to. A bead of sweat appeared on his fore head from the concentration until he heard a sound of something going on fire.
"Well would you at that." Shura spoke. Rin opened his eyes to see the result. Two flames lit, middle on untouched.
"I did it!" Rin cheered. "I finally did it."
"Looks like it. Guess doing all the training you missed through the passed three days in one day paid off huh." She grinned.
"It wasn't my fault! Yukio-"
"I know know, don't need to remind me. Well, lets work on your sword techniques now."
Great, we get to meet soon, Rin. A familiar voice echoed through Rin's head, making him turn cold in fear. The busty exorcist seemed to notice Rin's change of expression.
"Eh, was it something I said?" She asked, bringing Rin back to normal.
"Huh, oh, sorry about that. Yeah working on my sword would be great. Thanks a lot Shura."
Shura gave a questioning look before shaking her heard. "Don't mention it, just expect to leave here pretty late when I'm done with ya." She warned as she opened her second beer, throwing the empty can of the first on the floor. Rin walked to grab his sword. He was nervous; he hasn't unsheathed his sword since the incident and thinking that it would be the best opportunity of him to make his move.
Calm down Rin… He spoke to himself. Just need to make sure I don't loose it, that's all. I promised myself that he won't takeover, so why am I worried?
"Oi Rin!" Shura shouted, snapping Rin out of his trance. "What the heck is taking you, grab your sword and let's do this."
"C-coming." Rin replied as he ran back to his mentor. The half demon slowly took out the sword out the red bag that it mostly stays in until he was holding the sword in his hands. He slowly started to pull on the sheath of the Kurikara…
"Okumura!" An enthusiastic voice called out. Before Rin exactly got the chance to pull the sword out, he turned to the entrance of the training grounds to see Mephisto, swinging his pink umbrella around as he walked to him and Shura.
"I'm glad to see that you've recovered well." He finished with a grin on his face; Shura was displeased of the interruption.
"What the hell clown?" Rin cursed, "It only took you to now that see if I was fine?"
"Hey, I'm a very busy person you know." He waved his finger at his younger brother. "I just conveniently finished a few things to stop down and see how you were feeling, you should be honoured that I came down in person."
"Tsk, you have some nerve to interrupt Mephisto." Shura spoke, crushing the now empty can of beer in her hand. "What do you want, I know you didn't only come here to say 'hello' to Rin…"
"My, you're a clever one aren't you Shura?" The headmaster smiled at her only to get a glare in return. "But yes, I have other reasons why I'm here."
"Well spit them out then." Shura said impatiently.
"The main reason I'm here is to say that Rin, and the rest of the Cram Students, have a mission that would start soon. I've already gave Yukio the information so you would get the rest of the details from him."
"Eh, already?" The female exorcist spoke, "Rin just came back!"
"But he has a lot of catching up to do, you can't deny that." He countered. "Don't worry; I know that Rin would be fine." By that Mepishto walked off with a grin on his face, leaving Rin to think over what the hell just happened in the last minute.
Damn that clown...
That's the end of this chapter. Sorry it took a while, I had a bit of Writer's Block, lucky it wasn't that serious compared to ones I had before.
When writing Shura, I wasn't sure if I wasn't doing her accent right like other writers seem to do, so I decided to not to add it in, if you can teach on how to write her better, I would really appreciate it.
See you guys soon. R&R
