They walked in silence to the Gryffindor common room, occasionally greeting people as they passed. Upon reaching the room they heard from inside shrieking and shouting. They quickly climbed in to investigate. They hugely regretted this decision.
Upon the floor lay the source, or the sources to be more accurate, of the noise. James and Lily. They were sprawled up against each other, huge smiles on their faces, shrieking and laughing.
James started when he saw Sirius and Lupin out of the corner of his eye, "HELLO! Sirius, Lupin. How nice to see you!" he shouted merrily.
"Hi Sirius, hi Lupin," Lily greeted them kindly.
"Hi Lily," Lupin replied, trying not to smirk.
"So, what's going on here? You do realise we could hear you from the bottom of the stairs?" Sirius asked, grinning.
Lily looked incredulously at James, "You could?! Merlin, I didn't realise we were that loud!" she exclaimed.
"It's okay, we're the only ones around anyway," Sirius reassured her.
James looked over at his best friends and grinned, "You guys seen Peter?"
"Nope, we went up her to look for him," Lupin replied.
James' grin disappeared, "Weird. He said he needed to talk to me. Sounded pretty serious."
"I'm sure he'll turn up soon, don't worry about it," Sirius said, walking over to James.
James jumped up before Sirius closed the distance between them.
"I know what you're trying to do there Padfoot, I'm not falling for your tricks anymore!" he shouted, running across the room.
Sirius sprinted after him, chuckling madly, "Don't run away, you coward!"
Lily and Lupin looked to each other, smiling, "Its hard to believe they're not brothers isn't it?" Lily asked, staring at the two boys, who were currently tackling each other in front of the couch.
"I know. Its sad really. With Sirius' family and all," Lupin replied thoughtfully.
"Yeah, poor Sirius, must be horrible. He's so different from them though. If it weren't for his looks, I'd believe he was adopted."
Five or so minutes later James and Sirius grew tired of tackling and chasing each other so they came back over to Lupin and Lily. James stretched his arms, and yawned, "Man, I'm so tired."
"Our little wrestle over there tire you out, hey?" Sirius said cheekily.
"Oh no way, that was just a warm up, wait until next time. I'll get you for real then," James replied, cracking his knuckles.
"Boys, no violence," Lily said earnestly.
"Don't worry Lils, we won't leave any permanent damage," James replied, stroking her hair absentmindedly.
She rolled her eyes and looked over at me, "You keep them in line Lupin, I'm counting on you."
I smiled and nodded in her direction.
Lily left the common room after pecking James on the check. When she left Lupin and Sirius turned on him, asking multitudes of questions.
"I thought she hated you? Now you're already snogging? What'd you do, slip her a love potion?" Sirius asked incredulously.
"Calm down, I asked her out, she said yes, and then we went exploring secret passages together and ended up in front of the common room," James replied.
"Simple as that? You asked her out for the ten millionth time and she actually said yes? I don't believe you. I bet there's some sort of magic involved," Sirius exclaimed.
"The only magic involved is love. Loooove, sweet looooove," he said in an accent, winking at us.
"To be honest, I don't believe you either James," Lupin said.
He sighed, and slammed his hands onto the back of the chair, "Alright! If you guys don't trust me I guess I'll just go and hang out with Snivellus from now on."
"Don't go that far, we'll just get it out of Lily anyway," Sirius said.
"She won't tell you anything different, I swear," he replied.
The three best friends all ran out of the common room, laughing and punching each other's shoulders.
"Let's go find Wormtail!" James shouted, as loudly as possible, across the corridor.
