Hey guys! Sorry this is a short one. I don't know exactly where I'm going with this so bear with me. In the meantime, enjoy this shiny new chapter!
The brunette sat next to the blonde as the title screen appeared on her big television. Regina owned all the Harry Potter movies, but only for Henry. She had never seen one all the way through. She looked over at the blonde who was watching the screen intently. apparently she had a Harry Potter fan on her hands.
Five minutes into the movie the blonde began to drift off and instinctively moved closer to the brunette. Her eyes were getting heavier and eventually she was asleep.
Regina didn't realize the blonde was sleeping until her head rested gently against the mayor's shoulder. She smiled lightly and gently moved the blonde so that her head was in the brunette's lap. almost on instinct, the brunette ran her hand through the blonde's hair. Soon she was falling asleep and found her self in a quite uncomfortable position. She maneuvered her and the blonde so that they were laying down.
Emma curled into Regina and wrapped an arm around her waist. Regina smiled and her heart clenched. What would their town say if they saw the Mayor and the Sheriff cuddled together on the couch?
The brunette laid a blanket over their bodies and rested her head against the pillow on the couch.
"Night Emma.." She whispered. She gently moved gold locks out of the sheriff's face and closed her eyes.
"Nigh' 'Gina.." The blonde whispered back, almost incoherently.
The two fell asleep on the couch, Emma holding onto Regina. Under any other circumstance Regina would have thrown Emma across the room. But she reasoned with herself that Emma was sick. Also, the brunette wouldn't have been able to carry the sleeping form upstairs to a guest room. So she stayed, gently rubbing Emma's back as she drifted off to sleep.
Regina stumbled through the woods and shivered lightly. She knew she has to find Henry. Where was he? She kept going, wondering how she had gotten from her home into the woods anyway. As she made her way deeper into the forest, she began to hear whimpers small gutteral cries. Was that henry? No.. sounded like..
The brunette's eyes shot open and quickly she figured out that those noises weren't just part of her dream. It was Emma. The blonde was still laying down facing towards Regina, but they weren't touching. The blonde's eyes were shut tightly and tears streamed down her cheeks. She stifled sobs and every once in a while let out a little cry. The brunette's heart broke and she wanted nothing but to hold the blonde, rub her back and tell her everything was alright.
"Emma?" Regina whispered.
The blonde's eyes shot open and she sat up quickly, resulting in her sliding off the couch onto the carpet. She scrambled to stand and Regina placed a gentle hand on her upper arm.
"Hey.. Hey it's ok.. what's going on?"
Emma stood, her entire body clearly shaking. Her eyes darted around the dark room and landed on the brunette's confused gaze.
"Emma.. sit.. come here what happened?" The brunette curled her legs under her body and patted the spot on the couch next to her.
Emma sat cautiously and watched as Regina took her hand gently and stroked her thumb over it.
"I… Whenever I sleep somewhere new.. I get really bad nightmares.. It's because I moved a lot around when I was little.. This one was just.. It was really bad.."
Regina frowned and held out her arms. Emma leaned forward and Regina gently rubbed her back and whispered words of reassurance. "It was only a dream.. No one's going to hurt you.. I got you.." Emma sniffled and Regina spoke gently, after a few minutes of silence. "Want to lay down in an actual bed?
Emma nodded and the two moved apart. Regina grabbed her bag and pillow and showed her upstairs to the guest bedroom. "Here we are.." the brunette announced. She placed the pillow onto the bed and pulled back the covers for Emma. "Do you need anything?"
The blonde shook her head and crawled into bed hesitantly.
The brunette turned to leave but stopped when she heard a quiet "Regina?" She turned back around and Emma looked up from the bed, eyes glistening with tears that threatened to fall.
"Can you… can you lay with me?"
Regina swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat and she slowly moved towards the bed.
"Only this time Miss Swan.. Do you understand?"
Emma smiled lightly and curled against Regina, draping an arm over her torso. "Oh so now I'm Miss Swan again? I thought we were using Emma."
"Sorry… Emma. No one can know, do you understand?"
"Like our kiss on New Years?"
Regina's heart swelled just thinking about that kiss and she smiled. "Yes.. I would probably be run out of town for trying to seduce the sheriff."
Emma grinned. "Well why not make this night just as memorable as that.." Before Regina could interject Emma looked up and gently kissed Regina's round lips.
For the second time, Regina found herself not pulling away. If anything she was moving closer, wanting more contact.
The two pulled away to resurface for air and Emma smiled. "Ok! Night! " she burrowed herself further into the brunette's chest and soon enough the blonde was gently snoring.
Regina's heart was pounding out of her chest, and she was surprised the blonde was asleep against it. She couldn't believe what just happened. She knew Emma had the balls to do something like that, but she never suspected she was actually do it. And to be completely honest, Regina did not mind.
