Hello everyone! Please don't kill me for taking forever to update because if you kill me, I can write more chapters. I blame school! Anyways, I did get one question, so I answer that before I start the story. (Oh boy! My first question on a fic!)
DGtnsl: Yes, Jade's five balls are the planets and Skaia. She decided to keep them so she could put things that needed to kept secret or of sentimental value there along with being a memento of their life before the game. It's also where a certain someone lives. Teehee.
Anyway, 'thank you's to everyone who reviewed. Every time I got a new one, I was remotivated to finish this chapter as fast as I could. I'm glad you all love it so much, and I hope you all like this chapter just as much as the other ones.
Disclaimer: I do not own D. Gray-Man or Homestuck.
The Boy Who Controls Air & a Time Traveler
As soon as the three teenagers stepped off the train into the station, they were met with a huge commotion. People seemed to be in high spirits, chatting among each other. There were balloons, streamers, and banners hung up around the town.
"Wow! This is amazing!" Jade exclaimed, looking around in amazement. She seemed oblivious to the people who had begun staring at her dog ears, and she threw her hands up into the air in excitement. She suddenly stopped when she spotted the yellow string wrapped around her pinky.
"Oh my god!" she gasped. "I can't believe I actually forgot!" Jade turned toward the male exorcists. "Hey! I have something to get before I can see him!" Then she disappeared with a crackle of green lightning, leaving behind the tiny planets.
It shocked Lavi. "Does she do that a lot?" he asked.
"You get used to the green lightning," Allen replied. He looked around for some explanation of the celebration. "Miss, we are from out of town, so we were wondering what the celebration is for?"
"We're welcoming the sister of the town's god," the lady said cheerfully. "He's just up the street a bit in the center of town, playing with the children."
"Thank you," Allen replied then turned back to lavi. As they walked, he whispered, "Looks like Jade and her brother are a lot alike."
"What do you mean?" Lavi asked.
"When we met Jade, she was playing with the kids," he explained, smiling. Lavi chuckled in response.
They walked a little further until the street opened up into a circular plaza. In the center was a huge group of children surrounding what looked like a male version of Jade. The boy had messy, black hair and black-rimmed, square glasses. His eyes were a sparkling blue, and his skin was almost pale. He wore a blue hood on his head that dragged on the ground. In fact, the only clothes he had that weren't blue were his bright yellow shoes. On his shirt was a symbol that looked like it was for air in a lighter shade than his shirt. He also was about the same height as Allen, maybe a little taller. (Because a small Egbert is a cute Egbert.)
"So, what's your sister like?"
"She's really pretty and cute as a button, too! She's even more powerful than me. She's really sweet, and her laugh could make anyone smile," Jade's brother described. "She's pretty scary if you make her angry."
"I can't wait to meet her!" one girl exclaimed happily. He smiled and nodded in response.
"Actually, your sister is the reason we're here," Allen spoke up. That got the boy's attention real quick. He floated up over the children towards them; the children followed him, though.
"Jade? Jade sent you?" he questioned, hoping not.
"Well, we kinda came here with her, but she had to do something at the last moment," Allen explained.
"So, she sent us ahead of her!" Lavi exclaimed. "And you're right, she's super cute!"
The boy laughed, his cheeks turning slightly red as he did so. "Don't let her boyfriend hear you say that." Lavi's jaw dropped, and Allen gave a little laugh. "Yeah. Jade didn't tell you?"
"I think she forgot," Allen chuckled at Lavi's despair.
"Yeah. She's pretty forgetful," the boy chuckled as well. "I'm John Egbert, Heir of Breath!" He held out a for Allen to shake, which he took graciously.
"Allen Walker, and he's Lavi," he introduced him and his friend.
"Nice to meet you! So, what did Jade have to do?" John asked excitedly.
"She didn't tell us. She just disappeared."
"She does that. A lot," John chuckled. After he said that, Jade reappeared with a crack of green lightning, her floating tiny planets automatically returning to her. She held cards in her hand and looked through them as if studying them. One suddenly disappeared and reappeared as a giant yellow salamander appeared at her feet.
"Jade! You brought Casey!" John gasped as he flew toward his sister, scooping both her and the salamander up in a huge hug.
"Yep!"
"You're the best ecto-sister ever!"
"I know!" Jade replied, winking. Both of them laughed. Lavi looked to Allen and mouthed the word 'ecto' in which Allen shrugged.
The siblings got awestruck stares from the little children. "Doggie ears!" they yelled as they tackled them to the ground, each one trying to touch and grab Jade's pure white dog ears. John just managed to get out of the chaos. "Woah!" Jade exclaimed as she was brought to the ground. "Hey! Calm down. A-Ah! That tickles! Ow! Ok, that hurt. Don't eat those! Wait! I need my glasses!" All the others could see was a tangle of limbs as the children climbed all over her. One was trying to eat the blue and white planet, and another had taken her glasses. One tiny little girl had pulled on her left ear particularly hard. It was one big mass of giggles, squeals, green lightning (Jade teleporting her glasses and planets), and chaos. All three boys were too terrified that they'd be pulled in to help.
"That's enough!" Jade exclaimed, teleporting herself next to the two exorcists with a crack and her now signature green lightning. "You're all super adorable, but I can only take so much rough housing at a time. Even if I am part dog," she scolded.
The children mumbled their apologies, all out of sync. "Good. Now, on you go. I need to catch up with my brother," Jade said, giggling a bit at the end.
Once the kids had left reluctantly, John exclaimed, "Jade, it's been too long since we've seen each other."
"It's only been a few months, but I did miss you soooo much!" she replied. She squeezed him in a huge hug and twirling him up in the air.
"Mmm-hmm," Lavi said, clearing his throat awkwardly.
"Oh, right," Jade said, blushing a bit. She let go of John, and they both slowly came back down. "About why we came here in the first plave."
Allen and Lavi took turns explaining about everything; exorcists, the Black Order, the search for Innocence, the Millennium Earl and the Noah, and Akumas. Jade told him about how Allen and Lenalee came and told her about the Akumas and how they got rid of the ones that had come before. John had taken all of it in with a calculating look. Jade finished by saying, "I agreed to help them, even if I didn't have Innocence. So, what do you say? Will you help?"
"Of course, I will!" John exclaimed, smiling brightly. "It sounds like you guys should get all the help you can."
"Yay!" Jade and Lavi said, engulfing him in a hug. Allen just smiled at him and shrugged.
Not a second later, the ground shook. "What?!" Allen exclaimed, trying to hold his ground. Jade and John levitated to avoid the shaking, taking Lavi along with them.
"Oh no," John whispered after the ground had stopped vibrating. He took off toward the mountains, leaving Jade to carry Lavi's weight.
She soon dropped him to chase after her brother, and she called, "Wait! What do you mean, "Oh no"?" Allen and Lavi shot after them on Lavi's extending hammer.
"The rock at the top of the mountain gets weak after a storm, and it sometimes causes an avalanche big enough to cover the town. I need to make sure the barrier I made stays up," John explained, going as fast as he could. Eventually, he started descending, and the others followed him.
The snow had built up along boulder barrier that was 50 feet long and 2 yards high. Some had started pushing it's way through. John glowed blue, and a small tornado had formed behind the barrier, scooping up snow and throwing it back up the mountain. After a few minutes, several more tornadoes formed.
"The barrier isn't big enough! The snow's going to burst through," Allen yelled over the noise of rapidly turning winds.
"No shit, Sherlock!" John called back.
"I have an idea, but I need you guys to keep the snow back!" Jade replied. Allen nodded and activated his anti-akuma weapon. Once it had turned into a gun, he shot a few feet before the barrier, and he made his own barrier of giant bullets.
Jade had flew up several feet and making the 'L' shape with her fingers, outlining the boulder barrier. "What is she doing?" Lavi questioned.
John looked up, and his eyes lit up in recognition. "Great idea, Jade!" he exclaimed.
Wait. If she can make things smaller, does that mean she can do the reverse? Allen though, realization hitting him.
Jade moved her hands further apart, and with green lightning, the boulders started expanding, the line slowly getting longer and taller. When it had reached to be taller than Allen, the snow stopped slipping through.
Allen let out a breath he hadn't realised he'd been holding. John flew up to Jade who was slowly descending and hugged her tightly. "Jade, you're a genius!" he exclaimed.
"Not really! By increasing the mass, the force needed to move or break it is increased as well. It's just a simple matter; all you needed was a space player...or half of the mountain!" Jade explained, giggling a bit at the end and still descending. "But we need to put some kind of supports around it because it has more weight, so gravity will have more of an effect on it." She was more of talking to Allen and Lavi than her brother saying as John had already gone off to collect things to use as supports. Jade left the two exorcist as she rose once again.
Neon green sparks appeared around the bottom of the boulder barrier, and the ground shocks as the earth under the barrier disappeared. After the boulders had moved down into the newly made ditch, the dirt and things that had been under it appeared again along the edge of the ditch that was about half an inch deep. Not long after, a small tornado flew over the barrier and dropped rocks against it for support. When the tornado had deposited all of it's contents, it's disappeared, and John flew back over to Jade, Allen, and Lavi.
"That should do it," Jade stated as she landed again. "Now, we can go!"
"Aww, but you just got here! Everyone's thrown such a huge celebration for you. Can't you stay just a little while?" John pleaded.
"Weeeell...," Jade mumbled, biting her lip. She looked to Allen and Lavi.
"We are on a tight schedule..," Allen said, avoiding looking in her eyes. Both Jade and John him the puppy dog eyes; Jade even flattened her ears. After a few minutes, he caved.
"Ok. We can meet up in the center," he said, Lavi nodding in agreement.
"Yay!" the ectosiblings cheered in unison. They than flew off back towards the town.
"So, I guess that means we're walking," Allen sighed. He heard a bit of rustling, and he looked over at Lavi who had his giant hammer between his legs.
"Well, whatcha waiting for? Hop on!" he exclaimed, motioning for Allen. He got on behind him. "Hold on tight." Lavi steadied himself.
"Hammer: Extend!"
The hammer shot into the air, and Allen had to grip onto the pole tight to keep from falling. He was keeping from looking down as well. When Lavi glanced back to see how he was doing, he chuckled at the sight of the white haired boy with his eyes scrunched up and squeezing the pole in his hands.
Not long after, they had landed again and split up. Lavi went exploring the town and flirting with a girl he saw. Allen went to the train station and bought 4 tickets for the 4:30 train to England. After that, he decided to enjoy the festival as well. As 1:00 came around, Allen managed to bump into Lavi and go to a restaurant. Apparently, watching Allen scarf down food for two hours wasn't very entertaining.
Afterwards, both boys headed towards the center of town. When they arrived, they found Jade and John flying around. John was showing off how much of a dog Jade was like. He had a stick and threw it far into the woods. Jade's ears perked up, and she took off after it, leaving a laughing John behind. A few minutes later, Jade transported back to her brother with a stick in her mouth.
"Thmph nnt fmnpt!" she exclaimed with the stick still in her mouth.
"What?" John asked between laughing fits.
Jade spit the stick out and repeated, "I said, that's not funny!"
"Come on, Jade! It's adorable to see you play fetch like a real dog," the Heir of Breath said.
"Well, stop it! It reminds me of Becquerel!"
John went silent; no hint of amusement remained, only guilt. "Oh my god. I'm sorry, Jade. I wasn't thinking. Man, I'm an ass," he said, scolding himself.
Jade let out a sigh. "You're not an ass," she said, her ears drooping. John hugged her as another way to say sorry.
After they separated, they finally noticed the two exorcists. "Oh, hey, guys," Jade called, her ears perking again.
"Hey," Lavi replied.
"We have tickets for the 4:30 train," Allen said, holding the tickets up for them to see.
"Great! That means that we still have time to play!" Jade exclaimed. She grabbed John's wrist and pulled him along. Allen gave a small chuckle, and Lavi just smiled.
About a hour and a half later, all four of them were on the train. Lavi was out, making a call. Allen was listening to John and Jade tell stories about their adventures with their friends. He was especially interested in the alien species called trolls, but that was to be expected.
Right after they had just finished explaining all the complicated details of exactly how Jade got her dog ears, Lavi stepped into the compartment on a deeply confused Allen. "Do I even wanna know?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Probably not," Jade answered, giggling. "I think we broke him."
"But how?" Allen muttered to him, staring at his lap wide-eyed.
"See?"
Lavi chuckled, "I think so, too."
As soon as those words left his mouth, the entire train car shook, knocking Lavi who was still standing off balance and Allen out of his confused state. After the shaking ceased, Jade immediately transported to the roof of the car. John opened the window and slipped through through it. Allen and Lavi followed shortly behind him.
John had already flown up to the roof after his sister, but when he noticed the exorcists behind him, he pulled them up, too. All of them started running along the top of the train. After a while, they came upon a few train cars that were knocked over on both sides of one that was bent inwards. In the middle was a boy with platinum blonde hair and dressed almost completely in red; his shoes are black. He had glasses with black lenses that had been knocked off to the side; both lenses had been broken. One had a small piece missing.
The boy pushed himself up with groan. "Oh, fuck," he growled. Not a moment later, akuma appeared on the horizon, activating Allen's cursed eye. Looks like they were in for a fight.
Yay! I finally finished typing it all up. That was the longest chapter yet, and it ends in a cliff hanger. I hope you guys are happy. I'm sorry if I made the characters too OOC. I know I made Lavi seem like just a flirt even he's much more than that, and he didn't do anything at the barrier scene. I've already said I wasn't good at writing fighting scenes yet, so I'm still working on intense scenes, too. Trust me, he did stuff to help; it just wasn't mentioned. Also, I gave you a fluffy scene between Jade and John because they obviously would have the best ectosibling relationship. I also have a headcanon that Jade doesn't like playing fetch now because it reminds her of when she would play it with Bec on their island. So, yeah...
Anyway, I would like to list the people I would like to thank for all the encouraging things they said on Chapter 2!:

Also, I mentioned that Jade had a boyfriend in this fanfiction. I wanna see if anyone can guess who it is going to be. I only ship Jade with three people; one of them is John, though. You guys already know it's not him. No hints! (except the John thing.)
