Hello my minions! I mean my readers! I was so happy to see that we're now up to 12 reviews! That poll is so close, but I'm going to pull it down for now. I am going to focus on little Percy growing up first! I just wanted to see where our thoughts were on the future chapters.
Awesomeness, I have not read how to survive middle school! I just like saying peace love pancakes.
ATROPOS POV
A fine tale sister, but now I shall pick up the thread, so to speak.
Aphrodite awoke to the sound of a crying baby. She groggily stood and staggered to the crib. A clock on the dresser read 3:00. Little Perseus was wailing and shaking his fists in the air. Aphrodite resisted the urge to clamp her hands over her ears. She reached in, and collected Perseus in her arms. She began the first of many soon to come early morning walks.
She heard his cries die down as she started to walk up and down the halls of her palace. He stared in wonder at the passing curtains and paintings. There were marble statues of Aphrodite at almost every corner, and the baby seemed a little intimidated. He became quiet and yawned, allowing Aphrodite to finally return to her bedroom.
She placed Perseus in the crib once more, and collapsed into her mattress. It seemed to be mere minutes, but the alarm clock rang, and in mockingly red numbers was: 6:00.
Aphrodite groaned, and flipped onto her back, staring at the ceiling. She rubbed her eyes hard, trying to beat away the sleepiness. She finally groaned and rolled to the edge of the bed. She pushed up and walked to the crib to check on Perseus. The young boy was still deep asleep.
She quickly went to a small door on the side, and went in. A colossal bath tub dominated a corner of the spacious bathroom, with a large shower in the opposite corner. A toilet and a sink were located on the opposite edge. Well, calling it a sink would be very far-fetched. It took up almost all the wall, and it was covered in make-up and special make up products.
She quickly started the water in the shower. She ran to see if Perseus was still asleep. She bolted to the shower, hoping in and getting herself nice and clean. Grabbing a splendid red sequin dress, and black glossy boots, she dressed quickly.
She finished getting dressed, so she dashed to the gigantic counter full of make-up products. Smiling as she did so, she spent the next thirty minutes making her already perfect face even more perfect. Attempting to run, she stopped in front of the clock. It read 6:40, so she needed to hurry up.
Aphrodite crossed the room, and began to rummage through the baby bag Hermes had given her. It had bottles of formula (already made), a few teething toys, a couple of pacifiers, pampers, baby powder, wipes, and another dozen onesies.
She reached her arms into the crib, gently grabbing the still sleeping Perseus. She swaddled him in his blanket, and cradled him in her arms. She slung the strap of the baby bag over her shoulder, and scanned the room for anything she might have missed. Seeing nothing, she disappeared in a flash of light.
ON OLYMPUS
The gods were already in the throne room, but were milling around, discussing with each other. Hestia was prodding the flames as she watched everyone darting about. Once again, Hades was there, off to the side but still in the action. He was quietly talking to Zeus. Poseidon was sitting atop his throne, the only one to be doing so. He was more focused today, but his eyes betrayed the sadness in his heart.
Aphrodite arrived in the middle of this turmoil. Her hair and face was perfect as usual, but the child in her arms changed everyone's train of thought. No doubt about it, the baby scared the gods greatly. They all were to take place in this child's life, and the child would eventually affect theirs. They could either prevent or fuel their own demise.
At Aphrodite's arrival, the gods became seated in their respective thrones. Aphrodite settled into hers, with Perseus still cradled in her arms.
There was complete silence. The magnitude of their task was blaring loudly in their skulls. Poseidon's gaze rested on his son, and he quietly observed his son with Aphrodite. She was careful, and her expression as she smiled at his son was captivating. However, it had only been a few hours she had known him. That couldn't be long enough to care for him, could it?
Zeus cleared his throat, "Poseidon, I believe you agreed to arrange the schedule today?"
Poseidon nodded and spoke, "I want all of us to have at least four weeks with him to start off. Since I cannot be in sole custody of him, I will try to spend the nights with him, at whatever god or goddesses palace. Well, if they let me."
The gods and goddesses all muttered their consent. Poseidon leaned in close to Zeus and called Hades to their sides. As the big three whispered, the gods all studied Perseus in Aphrodite's arms. By now he was awake, but he stayed quiet. His eyes were fixated on Aphrodite's face above him, while she made cooing noise and funny faces.
Finally, she made a funny enough face. A fountain of giggles poured from Perseus and the sound washed over everyone. It was happy, carefree laugh. Poseidon's head jerked up to stare at his son, but Zeus called his attention again.
Ares tried rolling his eyes at Aphrodite, but found he couldn't. She was just so overjoyed at having made Perseus laugh; she continued to make the "Magic Face".
A few of the gods smiled, namely Athena, Hermes, Hestia, Apollo, and Hephaestus. The other gods just shook their heads, and continued to stare into space.
Finally, Hades cleared his throat to call attention to order. Poseidon fingered the shaft of his trident and spun it in his hands. Zeus cleared his throat to begin, "Poseidon, Hades, and I have decided the first month. It seems that Poseidon would like for Aphrodite to continue to care for Perseus. He would also like to request that Athena help him finalize a schedule with him. Hades suggested that Perseus should accompany us in our duties, respectively. So Aphrodite will get to tote Perseus around on her duties."
Aphrodite squealed in happiness and began to kiss the top of Perseus's head.
Hades cleared his throat at raised his eyebrows at her, "We have also decided that Perseus shall be left here, with a god or goddess, while you out on your ummm…. Adventures with men."
Aphrodite blushed but nodded. She bundled Perseus in her arms, and with a flash, disappeared.
