Chapter 3: Diagon Alley.

"Wake up and rise, sleeping beauty!" Naruto's loud voice brought Haruki out of his sweet dream, something about tomatoes and ramen that was slowly disappearing from his head as he sat up. His half-opened eyes took in the wide grin on the face of his father, the one who had just thrown open his window's curtains, to the clock in the wall that read 7 am, before his eyes floated back down to his bed with a groan.

"Don't want to wake up, Tou-san!"

Naruto frowned at his son's behaviour before smirking; had Haruki been looking, he would have jumped up right away and ran out of the room. However, as he was still happily sleeping the time away, it didn't happen.

Naruto brought his right hand up in the air in front of him, waved it around and mumbled under his breath for a few seconds. A round shape of water appeared above Haruki once he finished, and with a snap of his fingers, it fell right on the black-haired boy.

"C-COLD!" Haruki jumped out of his bed, now widely awake, only to see his father laughing at him. His face went red. "Not fair, Otou-san!"

"Life is unfair, Little One. Take it or leave it," chuckled Naruto. "Now that you are awake, go take a bath then come downstairs. We have a change in our plans."

With that said, his father walked out, leaving Haruki to glare at his back. After getting done with bathing and changing in to a clean set of clothes, Haruki went down to the kitchen where, once again, his father had been waiting.

"Morning, Otou-san. Why is it that you have to wake me up so early? I thought we weren't going until noon?" grumbled Haruki as he sat down.

"Yeah, we were. That is… until I thought of the time difference. Did you know that it is midnight now in London?" Naruto answered.

"Huh? Midnight? Oh right, I totally forgot about it. So what are we going to do?" Haruki said, knowing his father had already planned it out by now.

"We'll leave after this week, in Japan, for you to say goodbye to everyone. Then next week, we'll travel to London and stay there for you to get used to the time difference, also, to get your school things too."

"But buying my stuff will only take a day at most, what are we going to do for the rest of it? Getting used to the time doesn't take that long."

"It will, besides, I'm sure there a lot of things for you to do, like getting used to your summons for one."

Haruki blinked once, then twice, before the meaning of Naruto's words stuck on and he looked up at his father with hopeful eyes.

"D-Does this mean I will finally get to sign the summoning contract?"

"I believed that's what I just said," smirked Naruto.

"Yatta! Thank you so much Otou-san!" cheered Haruki.

A week later, the two Namikazes found themselves standing in front of a tiny, grubby-looking pub by the name of Leaky Cauldron. They had moved to Naruto's house in London the day before and now were more than ready to start their shopping trip. As they walked inside the pub, a few heads turned to look at them; Haruki guessed it was because of their looks. With the muggle clothes they wore, both father and son stood out like a sole thump in the middle of all the robe-wearing wizards around them. However, they only looked for a few seconds before turning back to talking, probably thinking that the two of them were just another muggleborn family. Haruki didn't care much about them either; this was not the first time he was here after all. His father only laughed and waved a good morning to the bartender, having known him through a few trips back, before leading them out into a small, walled courtyard, where there was nothing but a trash can and a few weeds.

"I still don't understand why they would choose a place like this to be the enchanted famous alley," commented Haruki.

"Don't try to understand wizard logic, son. There isn't any," said Naruto, his hand moving up and down to tap the wall three times with his finger.

The brick, he had touched, quivered, and a small hole appeared. Then, it grew wider and wider. A second later, they were facing a large archway onto a cobbled street that twisted and turned out of sight.

"Welcome to Diagon Alley," said Naruto. "Come on, Harry, we need to make a stop at Gringotts first."

With that said, the two stepped through the archway that instantly shrunk back into solid wall once they were inside. Despite being in Diagon Alley many times before, Haruki still couldn't stop looking left and right, taking in every change about it when he could. Naruto, noticing the change in his son, teased.

"Careful now, Harry, wouldn't want you to get lost now, would I?"

"I'm not a kid anymore; stop teasing me." Caught by his father, Harry began sulking for a minute, before curiosity won again and he turned back to look at everything.

Naruto only laughed at his son's action and continued walking until they both reached a snowy white building that towered over the other little shops.

Standing beside its burnished bronze doors, wearing a uniform of scarlet and gold, was a goblin about a head shorter than Haruki. He bowed as they walked inside. Now they were facing a second pair of doors, silver this time, with words engraved upon them:

Enter, stranger, but take heed

Of what awaits the sin of greed,

For those who take, but do not earn,

Must pay most dearly in their turn.

So if you seek beneath our floors

A treasure that was never yours,

Thief, you have been warned, beware

Of finding more than treasure there.

A pair of goblins bowed at them through the silver doors and they were in a vast marble hall. About a hundred more goblins were sitting on high stools behind a long counter, scribbling in large ledgers, weighing coins in brass scales, examining precious stones through eyeglasses. There were too many doors to count, leading off the hall, and yet more goblins were showing people in and out of these. Naruto and Haruki made for the counter.

"Good morning Eldar, I'm here to take some money off my vault. My name is Elnathan Wilson by the way," Naruto said to a free goblin. The goblin looked up quickly at the sound of his name, and then took deep breaths at Naruto's English name, before quickly bowing to him, the tip of his forehead touching the counter.

"My lord, please forgive my rudeness, I did not know you were coming," he said loud enough for the other goblins to hear. All eyes would have been on them if not for the silent spell Naruto had put up not a minute before, being used to this treatment from the goblins.

"Please stand up, Eldar, before you attract anymore attention to us. I'm only here to take some money for my son, he is starting Hogwarts this year," chuckled Naruto.

"Thank you my lord," said Eldar as he lifted himself back up, his eyes travelling to Haruki. "Ah, the young master. Forgive me; I have not seen you here before now."

"There's nothing to worry about, Eldar-san. As my father said, we are only here to visit our vault, nothing to make a fuss about," Haruki said politely.

"Of course, of course; please come with me, my lord and young master." Eldar said as he walked out of the counter by walking through it, Naruto and Haruki not blinking an eye as they were used to the goblin's magic.

"Lead the way, Eldar," smiled Naruto at the goblin, before the three walked toward one of the doors leaning off the wall. Many goblins bowed as they passed, making people's heads turning to look and stare after them until they disappeared behind a door.

Behind it, they were in a narrow stone passageway lit with flaming torches. It sloped steeply downward and there were little railway tracks on the floor. Eldar whistled and a small cart came hurtling up the tracks toward them. They climbed in and were off. At first, they just hurtled trough a maze of twisting passages. Haruki tried to remember as much as he could, but it was impossible as always. The cart didn't go very far however, it stopped not five minutes later beside a small door in the passage wall, this one looked much like the other except for a small whirlpool symbol in the center of it. Haruki knew it was not a vault door, yet not like any other normal doors either, this one was a fake door, a passageway to the real vault, that can only be opened by his father. Anyone else, who tried to open it, would only come in to an empty vault no matter what he or she does.

"Stand back," said Naruto importantly as he walked forward; he gently stroked the door with his fingers and the symbol lit up in a bright red light, before slowly growing larger until it covered the door and simply melted away, leaving behind a black vent in its place of the steel-looking door.

Eldar stood back letting Naruto and Haruki walk through the vent alone. Behind it, was another large room with a silver door on the wall opposing them, and several huge foxes, made out of stone, stood side by side between the two doors. If it were anyone but them, those foxes would come to life and envelop them whole. However, since this is Naruto himself, they stayed as the state they were in. It still gave Haruki a creepy feeling when he walked through it, seemingly being watched by hunter's eyes that wait for your simplest mistake to attack. Very creepy indeed.

Soon enough they were in front of the silver door, this one with a nine-tailed fox on it. Unlike the other one, Naruto had to cut his finger and let his blood run down its minder tail before the fox faded away and the door finally opened.

The vault behind it was huge, nearly the size of a ballroom, lit up by a soft glow that seem to come from nowhere and everywhere at once, numerous shelves of armors, weapons, and countless other objects filled the room. Despite seeming like it was in a mess, everything in this vault had been placed in a logical way that only Naruto would know about. The piles of scrolls on their left side were where the money was kept, unlike other people who let their money lie around on the vault's ground, Naruto kept his in scrolls. The right side was where he placed old armors, weapons, gems, jewels, magical objects and any other things that had been his treasure at one point in his many years of life.

"Harry, take a look around and see if you can find anything that could be used as a portkey, while I try to find a trunk for you," said Naruto as he walked toward the back of the room, where several old-looking trunks were placed.

"Okay, Otou-san," Haruki replied; he walked over to take a look at the jewels. One of them would be turned into a portkey that would bring whoever using it to their summer house in London, the Wilson mansion. Haruki would keep it with himself, at all times, in Hogwarts.

The gems in here were all beautiful; they came in all shade and colors; some were made into jewelry; others were raw jewels. Haruki looked at them for a while before a glimmering silver necklace caught his attention. Haruki reached a hand out and picked it up. At a closer look, he realized that it was not made of silver at all, but some kind of white stone that looks almost like snow. It even felt cold when he touched it. The pendant itself was an intricate Celtic design with a green gem in the middle. Haruki squinted at it and brought it closer to his face, but for the life of him, he couldn't figure what the symbol means. After a moment he lowered it and shrugged; though it was indeed strange, such a thing was not rare in this vault.

"Found anything yet, Harry?"

Haruki looked up at his father's question to see him drag back a simple truck.

"Not yet," he answered, looking over the truck as his father put it down next to him. The trunk was made out of black wood with white stone and green gems beacon, and then Haruki realized it was the same kind as the necklace he hold.

"Then what about that one in your hand?" Naruto asked.

"Oh, this?" Haruki took his eyes off of the trunk to look up at the necklace; he held it up for his father to see. "I just found it and was wondering what those designs meant, besides, I've never seen this kind of stone before."

"Of course you had not; those are very rare, only a few special people even get their hands on them," Naruto replied. "You probably won't see any of it anywhere but that necklace and this truck." He tapped the truck with his feet.

Harry looked between the two objects for a moment before saying: "Did they come together? That trunk had the same design at its corners, made out of the same material no less."

"Yes, they are an item…All belonging to one of my godsons about a thousand years ago. A gift from the spirit world, you could say," Naruto seemed to be deep in thought for a second, before shaking his head to clear it of all the old memories. "Come on, Harry, let's make you the owner of this trunk so we can leave; there is still a lot of things we need to buy after all."

"Eh, how are we going to do that?" Haruki asked.

"Just place some of your blood in the lock, say your name and it will do," answered Naruto as he gave Haruki a kunai to cut his thumb. Once he had placed his thumb to the cold stone and said his name, the white stone lit up with a soft light, numeral red runes appeared over it then disappeared just as fast. Haruki felt a shiver run through him after that, signifying the magic that was taking place.

"Well, that's done. Now whenever you want to open the truck, simply press your thumb to the lock," Naruto said. Haruki nodded and withdrew his hand.

"Otou-san, did you plan this before we came here?" Haruki asked.

"Maybe, maybe not," Naruto winked, then he walked away to the left side and came back with two yellow scrolls minutes later.

He unrolled one of them in Haruki's trunk and out came columns after columns of gold coins. Haruki helped his father pile some of it into a bag, while the rest of it was placed in a secret drawer of the trunk for later use. Then said trunk was sucked and placed in Haruki's pocket; the necklace was placed around his neck and the two of them walked back the way they came in. The goblin Eldar was still waiting at the first door, and one wild cart ride later, they were back to the surface.

"Man, that was tiresome," complained Naruto after the two of them left Gringotts. Haruki didn't say anything as he was busy thinking of where they should run to first, there were just so many things he wanted to buy at once. In the end, they decided to get his uniform at Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions first. Then lunch at a restaurant nearby, and after that they spent the afternoon to purchasing everything else on the list until there was only his wand left.

The last shop was narrow and shabby. Peeling gold letters over the door read Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C. A single wand lay on a faded purple cushion in the dusty window.

A tinkling bell rang somewhere in the depths of the shop as they stepped inside. It was a tiny place, empty except for a single, spindly chair. Haruki felt strange as though he had entered a very strict library; he swallowed a lot of new questions that had just occurred to him and looked instead at the thousands of narrow boxes piled neatly right up to the ceiling. For some reason, the back of his neck prickled. The very dust and silence in here seemed to tingle with some secret magic.

"Good afternoon," said a soft voice behind them. Haruki jumped, while his father just calmly turned around to give an "Afternoon" back.

"Hello," said Haruki awkwardly.

The man standing before them was old, his wide, pale eyes shining like moons through the gloom of the shop.

"Oh my…" said the man once he got a good look at Naruto. "You are Elnathan Wilson, are you not? My lord, I never thought I would get a chance to meet you in this life. An honour, truly an honour, my lord," he bowed to Naruto.

"Is everyone going to do that every time they see you, Otou-san?"

"Only those who know my secret; I gave up trying to get them to stop being so formal to me a long time ago. Best leave them be," Naruto groaned.

"You know Otou-san's secret?" Haruki asked in disbelief.

"Ah yes. Yes, we do. Our family was one of his many Keepers, the few that still exist to this day, I must say," said Ollivander. The word 'Keeper' was given to many families that had sworn their loyalty to Naruto years before; most of them were families of someone Naruto had taken under his wing, his ward. Haruki had once been one of them until Naruto adopted him as his son.

"I think that's enough, Ollivander, it already late and my son still needs to buy other things," Naruto said, somewhat annoyed at Ollivander's words. It reminded him of the many children he lost over the years.

"Of course, my lord. And a son, you said?" Ollivander moved closer to Haruki, giving him a piercing look. "Strange, strange indeed. But, no matter, it isn't my place to ask." He pulled out a long tape measure with silver markings out of his pocket. "Which is your wand arm, young master?"

"Haruki is fine, Ollivander-san. And I'm right-handed," Haruki said.

"Ah yes, the Japanese culture. May I ask your other name then?" As he measured Haruki, he asked.

"It's Hadrian, Hadrian Wilson."

"A good name, young master. Good name indeed."

Haruki suddenly realized that the tape measure, which was measuring between his nostrils, was doing this on its own. Ollivander was flitting around the shelves, taking down boxes.

"That will do," He said, and the measure crumpled into a heap on the floor.

"Right then, young master. Try this one. Beechwood and dragon heartstring. Nine inches. Nice and flexible. Just take it and give it a wave."

Haruki took the wand and (feeling foolish) waved it around, but Ollivander snatched it out of his hand almost at once.

"Maple and phoenix feather. Seven inches. Quite whippy. Try -"

Haruki tried, but he had hardly raised the wand when it, too, was snatched back by Ollivander.

"No, no -here, ebony and unicorn hair, eight and a half inches, springy. Go on, go on, try it out."

Haruki tried. And tried. He had no idea what Ollivander was waiting for. The pile of tried wands was mounting higher and higher on the spindly chair, but the more wands Ollivander pulled from the shelves, the happier he seemed to become.

"Tricky customer, eh? Not to worry, we'll find the perfect match here. Somewhere… I wonder, yes, why not? Unusual combination, holly and phoenix feather, eleven inches, nice and supple."

Haruki took the wand. He felt a sudden warmth in his fingers. He raised the wand above his head, brought it swishing down through the dusty air and a stream of red and gold sparks shot from the end like a firework, throwing dancing spots of light on to the walls. Naruto whooped and clapped and Ollivander cried, "Oh, bravo! Yes, indeed, oh, very good. Well, well, well... how curious... how very curious... "

He put Haruki's wand back into its box and wrapped it in brown paper, still muttering, "Curious... curious…"

"Sorry, but what's curious?" Haruki asked.

Mr. Ollivander fixed Haruki with his pale stare.

"I remember every wand I've ever sold, Young Master. Every single wand. It so happens that the phoenix whose tail feather is in your wand, gave another feather, just one other. It is very curious indeed that you should be destined for this wand when its brother, why, its brother belongs to one of the most powerful Dark Lord."

Haruki swallowed, and Naruto raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, thirteen-and-a-half inches. Yew. Curious indeed how these things happen. The wand chooses the wizard, remember... I think we must expect great things from you, young master... After all, He Who-Must-Not-Be-Named did great things. Terrible, yes, but great."

Haruki shivered. He wasn't sure he liked Ollivander too much.

"Stop trying to scare my Little One, Ollivander. Voldermort is dead; even if he is alive, what he does has nothing to do with Harry," Naruto suddenly said, his voice cutting through the tension in the shop with ease.

"Forgive me, my lord. I mean no harm," Ollivander quickly said.

"I know. Just tell us the wand's prize so we can pay for it."

"Oh no, it's free, my lord. Everything in this shop would always be free for you if you so wished."

"…Thank you, Ollivander. Now, if you'll excuse us, we have to go," said Naruto. "Come, Harry."

Haruki quickly took the wand box from the table and walked after his father, Ollivander bowed to them from his shop.

"Have a safe trip, my lord," he said.

The late afternoon sun hung low in the sky as Naruto and Haruki made their way back down Diagon Alley, the latter deep in thought. Sensing his son's trouble, Naruto said, "Ignore Ollivander, Harry. His word is meaningless as long as you do not let it accept you. A wand doesn't make a wizard after all."

"I know Otou-san, it's just…" Haruki wasn't sure he could explain it. "Everyone thinks I'm special," he said at last. "The goblin, Ollivander-san, and all the people back home too; they expect great things from me just because I am your son… But I don't know anything about magic at all; I'm not even your real son. What do I do?"

Naruto leaned down until he was eye level with Haruki, a very kind smile in his face.

"Don't you worry, Harry. You'll learn fast enough. Everyone started at the beginning at Hogwarts; you'll be just fine. Yes, being singled out will always be hard, but I believe you will overcome it. Just be yourself."

"Thank you, Otou-san," Haruki smiled at his father and Naruto smiled back. Haruki had needed someone to reassure him and support him, and Naruto couldn't have done it any better.

"One last thing Harry, you are my son, as real as the sun above us, don't even forget that."

"I won't, Otou-san."
