Sasuke had been staring out into space when he caught sight of those iron gates and the white building. No. "Mom, why are we here?" His mother didn't reply, she just kept driving to the psychiatric institution of Konoha, where Sasuke's father, Fugaku, had been locked up for 7 years. Sasuke never knew his father, or even met him. Ever since Sasuke was born, Mikoto's been worried that he might have inherited the same condition his father suffered and that he'll end up just like him.
That is something Mikoto doesn't want for her son. So, she made the decision to call Dr. Hatake earlier to make an appointment today. Sasuke however, never wanted to go there at all.
"Mom, can we turn back please?"
"No, Sasuke. I already scheduled the appointment for today."
"But mom, please. I don't like this place, it's creepy."
"Sweetie, we'll be fine ok? He just wants to do a couple of tests. That's all."
"I promises I won't make any bad pictures. It's just… I don't wanna go."
Mikoto quickly thought of a way to get Sasuke to comply for the tests Dr. Hatake's has to do.
"Look, if you behave very good with the doctor, we'll buy some ice cream."
"Okay."
"You'll like him."
Later in the building…
"Just tell me he has not inherited his father's illness." Mikoto has been feeling anxious since Sasuke went to the MRI room.
"I'm sure the results will come back negative." Dr. Hatake says, reassuring Mikoto that Sasuke would most likely not inherit Fugaku's genetic condition.
"But is there something else you can do to monitor his memory? Anything."
She waits for his response a few seconds until he replies, "A journal. Just get him to write down everything that he does."
Mikoto asks, feeling unsure, "What would that do?"
"It can help jog his memory."
Later…
"see if he can remember anything new the next day." Dr. Hatake and Mikoto are walking side by side in the hallway that leads to the exit. Sasuke's checking the lobby out, trying to find the room where his father is locked up. He takes a look at the map of the institution to see if he can find it. Meanwhile, Mikoto is still talking to Dr. Hatake about the test results.
"The test results will come back in a few days and then we'll take it from there."
Mikoto says ok as she writes her signature on the paperwork before handing it back to the receptionist.
The next day
"Today, mommy is taking me to play with Sakura and Gaara. I'll meet their father and see what a real dad is like." Sasuke started writing in his journal immediately after his mom encouraged him. At first, he was kinda uncomfortable writing words since his handwriting isn't really that neat, but then he got used to it before going to bed last night. Right now, he's sitting at the kitchen table writing, while in the hallway, Mikoto is finishing a phone consversation with Mr. Subaku, father of Sakura and Gaara.
"Great! So, I'll see you outside at your house. Ok, bye!" She hung up the phone, setting it down into the receiver. Mikoto was about to step into the kitchen when she saw her son standing… holding a kitchen knife in his right hand. Mikoto was shocked by the sight. He looks exactly like his drawing! Panic started to rise inside her rapidly, but she was able to speak in a calm voice,
"Sasuke, what are you doing?"
He blinked twice before he replied, "Mom? What just happen?"
"You don't remember?"
"No."
All Sasuke remembers is writing in his journal and then finds himself out of the chair, standing in front of his mother with a knife. He doesn't recall grabbing it.
Author's Note: Finally! I finished typing Chapter 2 for the Uchiha Effect! Having been delayed by schoolwork, prom, and then losing my Ipod by my dad due to my grades, I was still able to get this done! Yes! Anyway, the next chapter is where he experienced another blackout. All I'm gonna say.
