***Hello, everyone! Since I got two prompts within about an hour of each other after uploading the rules, of course there shall be a streak. This one was brought about by a guest under the name Lotto. So Alphys and Undyne belong to Toby Fox, and let's go!
Prompt Two: Flashbacks
Alphys looked up from working on her laptop in the living room when she heard glass breaking. It was Undyne's night to cook, so that sort of thing wasn't necessarily rare.
However, what was rare was the sound of everything stopping abruptly. The silence of the following two minutes was so thick that it could've been cut with a kinfe. Alphys put her laptop away and hurried to the kitchen when she heard someone collapsing to the floor.
"U-Undyne!" she exclaimed at what she saw.
Undyne was on her hands and knees on the floor. Her hands were bleeding, but she didn't seem to notice. And if she did, she didn't care.
Her chest was heaving, and her eye was wide with fear. She couldn't seem to take her eye from the glass on the floor that was covered in the blood from her hands.
Alphys ran over to her and sat down on the floor. "S-snap out of it! Wh-whatever's going on, it's j-just in your h-head! You're s-safe!" she yelled, shaking her wife.
After being jostled to a certain point, Undyne suddenly jolted. Then, she let out a sigh of relief and took a normal sitting position. "Thank you," she said.
Alphys stood up. "C-come on. I'll help you c-clean up your h-hands," she said.
XxX
Undyne was silent the entire time. Not even the peroxide in her cuts made her flinch. She stared off into space, her expression saddened.
Although Alphys mainly focused on tending to the wounds, she couldn't help but occasionally look up. And the entire time, Undyne maintained that same countenance.
"Th-there. All d-done," Alphys said. Undyne hummed, looking at her bloodied bandages. She stood up from the edge of the bathtub (they were in the bathroom) and went off to her room. Alphys remained her shadow.
They both were silent until they both sat down on the bed.
"...wanna t-talk about it?" Alphys eventually had to ask.
Undyne held a pillow to her chest, drawing her knees up. "I broke a glass bottle cooking. A glass bottle was what caused me to lose my eye," she mumbled, her gaze on the wall.
Alphys remembered the story; after Undyne's stepfather took her eye, he took her mother's life. "S-so the noise and the c-cuts on your h-hands made you just f-freak out?" Alphys guessed.
Undyne nodded. "My legs gave out, and I was trapped in that flashback. I was a wimpy seven-year-old again, and I'd just seen my mom die with one working eye." She hung her head.
"I could've moved to take the hit. I could have moved."
She buried her face in the pillow. Her shoulders began to shake. For once, she was the one crying. And Alphys had to be the strong one. She moved over and took the place of Undyne's pillow.
"You're n-not a w-wimp. You're s-strong, and you've done a-amazing things. Your mom would be s-so proud," she said. She moved Undyne's head back so they could lock gazes.
"I-I am."
Undyne's smile was wobbly. She hugged tighter. "Never leave me, Alph," she pleaded. Alphys hugged back.
"I never will."
***Looking back on it, I'm kinda realizing that this is more like an episode from someone who suffers PTSD, but she still had a flashback. Anyways, be sure to leave a review on the way out and I'll see you all in the next one! Bye!
