Sorry It's been so long since I've published anything guys! Honestly, I really didn't think anyone was reading, and since I was so busy I didn't make it a priority to update. However, I understand now that I was wrong, and that ya'll do like my stories. From now on I'll try to publish one chapter to my stories on my days off, sometimes more. I hope you enjoy! Just keep in mind it's been a few years since I've written any fanfiction. I do not own Red River or Naruto!
Pain clenched inside of her chest as she stared out at the landscape. Thought seemed to escape her for a moment as she took in her surroundings. Home... This was not home at all. A large palace surrounded her, made of some sort of stone? Some material she wasn't exactly used to. She was standing on a higher plain than the city that surrounded her, but below she could hear the voices rising from the streets. Rushing forward, she took the stone steps two at a time in her haste to make it to the bottom, not paying any mind to the man following after her trying to get her attention.
'What's going on? What is this place?' Doubt was filling her mind as she stilled at the entrance to a large main street filled with small caravans and booths selling wares. This was far from what she had ever imagined could happen to her. How could this be a mere transportation jutsu when the world seemed so alien? Sliding to her knees, she felt the sweat dripping down her back from the mix of fear and anxiety that also seemed to be clawing up her throat. It was like everything she knew was gone, replaced with a new world that she had no idea had ever existed.
For the first time in years, she did something that disappointed herself: she fainted.
Ramses made it just in time to catch the young woman before she fell fully onto her back in the middle of the street. Around him, the citizens turned to stare at their leader and pharaoh as he picked up the damsel and threw her over his shoulder. Of course, in typical Ramsey fashion, he just gave them a small wave and a wink with his golden eye. Smirking, he tried to calm the slightly nervous people. "Fear not, it seems as if my… friend… has had too much of the evening heat. Continue on!" After one last wave, he turned around and started the march up the stairs. Ramses mind was running a mile a minute it seemed as he tried to reason how the young girl had been summoned from the water. Nakia was deposed, so there was almost no way she could have done it. Perhaps he should send a small missive to Yuri and Kail?
He made his way inside the palace with no one of the help even batting their eye at the fact that their master was carrying a woman across his shoulder. Once he made it to his bedchamber, he brushed aside the curtain guarding the doorway and took a few more steps in before laying Hinata down on the silk covered bed. Gazing around the room, he took in the delicately decorated room and thanked Osiris that he had let his sister redecorate the room a few months beforehand.
Ramses dragged a large wooden chair from the corner of the room towards the side of the bed before finally dropping into it. He had only awoken a few hours before, but already he was exhausted from the days surprising events. Leaning forward, his golden hair fell slightly over his eyes as he trained his gaze upon the woman lying in his bed. Perhaps she would awaken soon, but he knew he had overreacted when he had first seen her. Though he had assumed Hinata had been like his Yuri, his Ishtar, he knew nothing could be like her. Evidently, they were not even from the same future, or perhaps the same Universe? Still, Hinata had surprised him with her bravery, and her brashness even if he had only seen her conscious for less than half an hour.
However, no matter even if she did resemble Yuri somewhat in temperament, she could never be his love. He had to get a handle on his own personal feelings, even if it was only to help this lovely woman back to her home. After all, home is where the heart is, and her heart most likely would never be here in a foreign land.
An hour later…
One of the first sensations Hinata noticed as she started to awaken was a wonderful smell. Somewhat masculine, but at the same time it was worldly, like spices and heat. The second? A large hammering that seemed to be going on right behind her right eye, giving her a migraine that rivaled the likes of which Sakura could give her when she was talking about the oh wonderful Sasuke.
Cracking a lavender eye open and letting loose a small, pain filled moan, she heard movement right next to her. "Hinata," a velvety voice whispered to her. Following the sound, she opened both of her eyes and slightly moved her head before seeing Ramses sitting next to her. Did she think of a velvety voice? No, she meant nail scratching, she amended in her mind. A callused hand brushed her bangs away from her eyes before he pulled his bronzed skinned hand back, acting as if he was surprised at himself. Ramses shook himself inwardly before adding, "Are you alright? It seemed as if you shocked yourself. Probably too much at one time."
Hinata bit her lip before nodding, she a small almost imperceptible shake of her head. "I…I-I'm fine. I w-will be fine. Just… Where am I? I'm not home anymore am I? Just… Please. Explain everything to me." Ramses hesitated for a moment. How could he not? He might be about to dash a young woman's hopes. She wasn't home anymore. What if… What if he took away her heart? You heart… Is where your home is.
And for all it seemed, she was not home anymore. Could he help her get back there?
