Late Spring
King Vegeta stomped his way through the castle as he headed towards his son's room. It was almost midday and the 19-year-old Saiyan Prince was still sleeping. He knew his son had stayed out rather late with Nappa and Raditz... The older two Saiyans were horrible influences, really, but Trunks didn't have many other friends so Vegeta overlooked it.
Now, normally the King wouldn't have minded his son sleeping in either, but today was a day that a group of Saiyans went to earth to trade goods. A day he hated.
Vegeta entered his son's room to see the young man laying on his bare stomach, sleeping peacefully. His lavender hair spread out across his pillow. Vegeta sighed, walking up next to the bed. "Brat, wake up!"
Trunks eyes shot open as he sat up quickly, looking at his father. "Hello Fa-"
"Don't start it," Vegeta crossed his arms. "Get up and get ready. You have to leave in half an hour."
"What for?" Trunks yawned with a stretch.
"Trading with Earth," Vegeta forced the words out of his mouth as civilly as he could.
Trunks groaned as he fell back onto his bed, laying on his back now. "Why do I have to go? I don't like it either..." He frowned.
"You're going because a royal Saiyan has to be there to sign the documents and because I said you're going."
"Clever," snorted Trunks, rolling his eyes. "Raditz is as good as a royal- let him sign."
Vegeta growled, his tail tightening around his waist. "Don't push me today, Trunks. You're going and you will do so because I am your King and this is an order. Is that better?" He raised a brow.
"Yes Sire," Trunks hissed, refusing to look his father in the eyes. He hated it when his father played the King card on him, just to make him do stuff.
Vegeta sighed as Trunks sat up and started getting ready. "Just sign the damn papers, then Nappa and Raditz can deal with the trade."
As soon as Vegeta left his room Trunks' tail began twitching behind him. "Stupid mudball," he muttered calling the earth something he's always heard his father call it. It really wasn't fair that he ws being forced to go just because his father didn't want to. The man has had a grudge on Earth for as long as Trunks could remember... And as soon as he turned of age, Vegeta made him go to Earth instead. Trunks wanted to go back to sleep, but he knew is father would beat him if he did. With a grunt he got out of bed and headed for his shower.
Half an hour later he walked out of his room- hair still damp from the shower and in his royal armor. His red Saiyan crest pendent hung around his neck proudly as he walked down the halls. "Is the ship almost ready?" he asked Raditz as he stepped outside.
The long, wild-haired Saiyan looked over at the Prince. "Yes, your mother has already stated that it's ready."
"Alright," Nappa popped his back as he walked up. "It's been too long."
"Let's go. The faster we get this over with the better," muttered Trunks.
"Yes, let's get this over with as soon as possible," agreed Ratiz. He hated Earth with a passion that could match the Kings...Kakarot had been his little brother, after all...
"Trunks," a voice called and the young Saiyan man turned to see his mother walking towards the ship.
"What are you doing?" He raised a brow towards her.
"Just to wish you a safe journey," Bulma smiled lightly at her son. "And... I know you hate trading with earth, but don't put the ship on overdrive."
"Mom," Trunks began, his tail tightening around his waist.
"I'm serious," Bulma told him. "I just did some work on it. Kicking it on overdrive could make you guys be danger."
"Fine," Trunks huffed, leaning down and giving his mother a gentle kiss on the cheek. "I will see you later tonight then."
"Be careful," Bulma called after him, watching as he boarded the ship with Raditz and Nappa.
She let out a small sigh as she watched them go... So many things had changed since she came to Vegeta-Sei... The ships, for starters. No longer did Saiyans need to travel in those small, cramped one-person-only spacepods. They had ships that were one of the fasts in the galaxy. Their technology had improved quite well, too. They didn't use their scouters anymore, since they had advanced in more than just technology but strength as well.
Bulma watched as the ship disappeared, a small frown on her face. Her son hated earth, mainly because we had grown up hearing nothing but badness about it from his father and "uncle" Raditz. Bulma just wondered how he would react if he knew the truth about his heritage...

The ride to Earth was peaceful, and Trunks was thankful he had Nappa nad Raditz in his squadron. The two older men had been around for as long as he could remember, and though they weren't royalty, they might as well have been. Trunks and Bulla ha practically adopted them as their uncles. Trunks frowned slightly... He use to have a real uncle... Uncle Tarble, but no one liked talking about him because of what happened.
Trunks was only eight when it happened, and he remembered feeling confused, guilty and angry. His Uncle Tarble was a short man- even shorter than his father. He wasn't very strong, for Trunks had surpassed him in no time. The one thing that Trunks remembered most about Tarble though, was that he was always smiling. He had to be the happiest man he had ever known...
"Prince Trunks?" Raditz asked shaking the young Saiyan from his thoughts.
"Yes?" Trunks mumbled, still hallway in this thoughts.
"We've landed on Earth," Raditz said.
"We have?" Trunks asked, it seemed to have gone by quickly. "Where's the papers?" He glanced around.
"Nappa already went off to go get them. Prince Trunks, are you okay?"
Trunks looked at the man dully. "Raditz, you know you don't have to call me by my title when it's like this. You and Nappa both know that." True, he liked his title, he liked being the Prince, but hearing Raditz and Nappa call him that always made him feel guilty since they were like family.
"Yes, I know. I just like bugging you," Raditz smirked softly. "Really though- what's wrong?"
Trunks shrugged. "Just thinking..."
"Don't over do it," Raditz teased as he flicked Trunks forehead.
"Here's the papers!" Nappa ran back in, handing them to Trunks.
Trunks signed them quickly before Nappa pounced back out. The Prince looked up at Raditz, who was shaking his head slowly at the bald man. "Go help him, you know how excited he gets..."
Raditz rolled his eyes. "I hate this planet," he mumbled as he walked out of the ship.
Trunks let out a sigh as he looked around the ship. Now with both Nappa and Raditz gone, he was bored. There was nothing better for him to do so he walked off the ship. He frowned as he looked around up at the bright sky. Planet Vegeta-Sei had two suns, but it wasn't nearly as bright as the Earth's blue sky. The gravity was less on Earth than his planet as well... All-in-all to him, Earth just sounded... Boring.
He knew his father and Raditz disliked it so much because of a man whose name was Kakarot was murdered by the humans. His mother however, always seemed to have an interest in earthly affairs. She always asked who ever went on earth trades many questions when they returned.
A soft noise made Trunks' ears perk and his tail tightened around his waist slightly. It sounded like laughter and the the hooves of a horse. The noise grew weaker the further it went, but Trunks was curious... The laugh seemed so child-like and carefree. He had to see who was behind the laugh...
