DownsofFire: Hey guys, here's another chapter that's been brooding for a while. We're lazy fucks. But, above all else, we deliver…. as much as we can. I hope you guys enjoy this chapter and check out my stuff. It'd be greatly appreciated.

Hello everybody, and welcome to chapter 3 of Going Platinum. We're lazy as fuck. Seriously, we fucking suck on so many levels. But, you now have you dose of GP! Sorry for the long wait, readers! And do check out DownsofFire's stuff. So, without further ado, here is chapter three, of GP!

The sun was starting to lean west as the boys exited the Pokemon Centre. Each had a Pokeball hooked on their belt. However, Sam looked defeated while Thaddeus kept snickering.

"Boy…. she put up a fight." Sam's head dipped lower in response. Thad simply chuckled more. "It's all right man. I mean, not many cay say they broke expensive equipment while chasing their Pokemon." It was unfortunately true. Piplup decided that dancing and running was the preferable alternative to being healed up. And so she did, making Sam chase her until he ran face-first into a robot arm, sending it careening into a rack of Pokeballs, making them all fall and breaking the arm in the process. Needless to say, Sam wasn't pleased. The nurse was kind enough, noting that they had a spare arm and would need to order one, but that Sam should also learn to control his Pokemon. It wasn't a fun afternoon.

"I don't know what her deal is! I mean, one minute she's happy to follow orders and the next, she's dancing everywhere and being insubordinate." he pinched the bridge of his nose in exhaustion. "I didn't even want this. I mean…." Sam simply flailed his arms about. Thaddeus was bordering on bursting out laughing, but he was mature and wasn't about to laugh. Yet.

"Well, she's obviously one of those ones with a more free spirit. I mean, at least she's battle-capable. So shes not useless." Sam gave Thad a look that said That's not the issue right now. Thad sighed in response. Sam obviously wasn't going to be the next Pokemon battling wunderkind like himself. But he was competent enough. "Besides, it could be worse. You could have no Pokemon whatsoever." Thad raised his eyebrows in anticipation.

"That'd be preferable." Thad sighed and gave his, he guessed, friend a big slap on the back.

"Buck up there, guy." he grabbed Sam around the shoulders. "We've got a whole world to explore out there." he said, moving his arm in a slow arc at the nature around them. Then he clenched it into a fist. "And we're gonna be the ones who conquer it and I'll get my chance to beat Cynthia." Thad turned and stood before his friend and grabbed him by the shoulders. "So what do you say?" Sam, surprisingly, started laughing.

"I don't Cynthia's going to want to face her stalker in a battle." Thad's face froze in its smile as his eye started twitching.

"I am not her stalker! She's just an idol. Or something." Thad let go of Sam's shoulders and huffed. Sam chuckled

"Staaaaaaaaaaaaaalker." Thad growled somewhat before saying

"Let's just go visit Rowan." the professor had requested their appearance when they finished healing. They both walked through the streets to his lab, where the man was surprised to see the two of them together.

"Well now, this is a surprise. I never thought you two would be working together." Thad and Sam simply stared. Until

"Well, he's a good guy, even if he's a stalker." Thaddeus turned

"I am not a stalker! How many times do I have to say that?" Sam simply chuckled in response.

"Not my fault you're obsessed with Cynthia."

"I. Am. Not. Obsessed." Thad countered through gritted teeth. He then realised who he was in front of, coughed, and went back to being a bit more civil. "Anyway, what did you want us for Professor?"

"Since you're both here, I figured I'd give you each a Pokedex. If you capture and see more Pokemon, you can record them in the dex, figure out where they live, etc. Now then…." he turned around and they weren't on the table behind him. "Curses. Dawn!" his raised voice was surprisingly loud. "Where are the Pokedexes?"

"Right here professor." Thad and Sam both turned to see a very attractive young woman come out. She had on a red coat with pink buttons that went to mid-thigh, a puffy white scarf around her neck, pink boots, and a white toque with a pink Pokeball design on it. The coat didn't do much to hide her matured body. Both boys felt their faces heat up. Dawn walked over and gave the Pokemon Professor the Pokedexes.

"Right then." he turned to the boys as the watched Dawn leave. Seeing this, he loudly cleared his throat, garnering their attention. "Right then." he handed them each a Pokedex. "Treat them well, they're expensive. Make sure to record as many Pokemon as you can. Capture fast and often. And above all: have some fun with it. Got it?" both boys nodded. "Excellent. Now then, head to Jubilife City, and then on to Oreburgh City, where your first challenge awaits."

"Thank you sir." the boys said in unison, before leaving the lab. As they did, Rowan sighed. He'd have to get Dawn to wear some new clothes.

The two boys happily trudged along, their packs slung over their backs. Thad was humming a quiet tune to himself, taking in the fresh air. Sam, meanwhile, was still rather horrified at the prospect of going on an adventure.

"I really don't want to do this." He stated.

Thad slapped him on the back, grinning. "Don't worry about it buddy, everything will be fine."

"Piplup!"

Running underneath Thad's legs, Piplup yelped as Turtwig chased her, sending horrified and pleading gazes back towards her master and Thad. That chuckled, while Sam just shook his head, albeit a small smile playing upon his lips.

The sun was slowly turning into a blazing fire, colouring the formerly blue sky into a roaring orange. The birds still sung softly, the odd Starly flying overhead as it dipped and dived through the trees. The tall grass was crushed underfoot by Sam and Thad as the sounds of Route 2 flowed through their senses. The occasional chatter of the Bidoof, the occasional click of a Kricketot, and the small, low growl of a Sh-

"Shh!" Thad hissed out of the blue, placing his hand across Sam's chest.

Sam's jaw set but he didn't reply, as Thad pointed shakily towards a patch of grass slightly off the route.

A small, blue cat, reminiscent of a lynx cub, was absent-mindly scratching at it's ear. It's tail, black, with a yellow star at the end, shifted from side to side with the wind. Golden eyes, astute and alert, even as it groomed itself, surveyed the green area, sharp and poised.

"Yeah?" Sam said, turning to Thad. "What of it?"

"What of it!?" Thad hissed, gripping Sam's shoulders and shaking him rather violently, much to the latters displeasure. "It's a Shinx!"

Sam nodded dumbly. "Awesome, great, amazing. So... can we go now?"

"No! I need to catch it!"

The blonde regarded Thad with an annoyed look, his brows furrowing. "Must we?"

"Yes!"

"Fine, but can we try and do it quietly. All this green is giving me a headache..." He trailed off, rubbing his head as his face contorted awkwardly.

"What exactly is your problem with green?"

"Why exactly do you want to bang Cynthia?"

"I don't want to bang Cynthia!"

"Piplup!"

The two teens had certainly not been paying attention to their Pokemon, as Piplup crashed through some of the undergrowth, eyes wide as Turtwig chased after her, jaws agape.

The tortoise pokemon leapt forward, tackling the blue penguin to the ground, and nipping her on the shoulder. Turtwig let out a cry of victory, leaping off Piplup as she stood, and dusted herself off, mumbling multiple 'Piplup's under her breath.

"Shinx!"

As the group of four turned their attention back towards the blue cub, there was an intense flash of light. Shielding their eyes, the group stumbled backwards. Sam rubbed at his eyes in an attempt to stave off the (hopefully) temporary blindness. Thad, meanwhile, began barking orders at Turtwig. "Use tackle!" He commanded, before tripping over a bush and falling backwards.

The small tortoise, eyes glazed, leapt in a random direction. He collided roughly with Sam's midsection, causing the blonde to fall backwards slightly, landing on the ground with a loud thud.

"Piplup!" The blue penguin cried, leaping into the air and doing a multitude of spins. As she came hurtling back towards the ground, she tried to pinpoint the exact area where Shinx was. Raising her hand up, she was about ready to Pound it.

She smashed hard onto her face, knocking her unconscious.

"That hurt!" Thad swore under his breath as he stood up, his shoulders sagging as he realized he could see again. Turtwig seemed to be the same, nudging a still grounded Sam with his nose as a way of apology, before he dashed back to Thad.

The Shinx's glowing fur slowly began to die down, returning to it's blue hue. Thad reached for his Pokedex, pulling it out and flipping it open, before fiddling with the controls. Letting out a victory whoop (while Sam let out a pained groan) he pointed the device at the little blue lynx cub.

'Shinx, the lynx cub like Pokemon. Shinx's are known to hunt in the wild, and will make their fur glow with electricity in order to blind potential predators and trainers so it can make it's escape.'

There were a couple of other details, but Thad didn't pay attention to them. His sole thought was focused on the picture of a Luxray, in all it's glory.

"Turtwig, use tackle!"

The small tortoise charged forth, as the Shinx bared it's fangs. As Turtwig neared, the Shinx twisted itself around, lightly smacking Turtwig in the face with it's tail. Dazed, the tortoise was soon roughly knocked back by a Tackle, sending him skidding across the floor. As he went to stand back up, the Shinx was upon him again, slamming it's whole weight into the charge. Turtwig flew backwards, colliding with the still unconscious form of Piplup, as the two rolled backwards.

Shinx seemed to grin, golden eyes alight , as it slowly began to saunter towards the downed starter Pokemon. As it got closer, however, it's speed began to pick up, and soon it was running full pelt.

"Shinx!" It cried, leaping into the air for a diving tackle. As the lynx cub drew near, Turtwig's eyes snapped open, and he sharply jumped the side. Golden eyes widened momentarily before they were closed shut as the lynx crashed into the dirt with a thud.

Unconscious, the Pokemon slumped to the floor, and Thad grinned. "Great work Turtwig!" He called, as the tortoise gave a little grin of satisfaction at his handiwork. Withdrawing one of the empty pokeballs from his belt, he threw it at the lynx cub. It thudded into him lightly, before it seemed to leap backwards, red energy pouring out as the ball popped open. The Shinx's very being was soon siphoned into the tiny ball, and it soon began to wriggle violently on the floor.

Thad bit his lip, practically shaking with anticipation as Sam finally got back to his feet. "Thanks for the help buddy!" he called. But, Thad wasn't paying attention.

With a little click, the ball stopped moving. The widest, happiest grin bloomed on Thad's face, and he bounded into the air, pumping his fist. "YES!"

And there we go! So, I do hope you enjoyed this chapter, sorry for the wait, and I hope we see you again for chapter four of Going Platinum! Thanks again!

DoF: It's finished. Hope to see more people enjoy chapter 4.
