Hey, I'm sorry this story isn't that good. I have another sasusaku story that I'm super excited about, but kinda nervous to post. We'll see.
THANK YOU FOR THE REVIEWS! SO MUCH! Ah, I love it when people are nice. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
More housekeeping issues with the last chapter. Sorry. We'll see how this one goes.
He let me go gently (A new side of Sasuke, I must say. But it kissed me, so I can't say I don't like it) and backed away, shoving his hands in his pockets. I awkwardly adjusted my shirt.
"I uh—I gotta go," I whisper-choked out, walking almost stick-like to my car. Sasuke simply stood there, watching me drive away. I looked in my rear-view mirror to see him staring at the ground.
…
Well, Naruto and I were late because he decided he actually DID want to come his hair, then he realized his jacket was dirty and took it off, THEN realized he really hated not wearing it and made me drive back (we were halfway already).
However, at this point I'm thinking it was a blessing in disguise. I mean, it would have been very awkward with Sasuke if we were just sitting there in silence. At least in AP Calculus we could pretend to be listening.
I kept trying to look at Sasuke. You know, everyone is all like, because his eyes are so amazingly bright and sexy…damn, look at those arms …I love looking at him…(sorry, that went on a little) but seriously, that is so not why I was looking at him. Even if it was true.
I am being 100% honest, I swear, when I tell you that I was stealing glances at Sasuke in attempts to figure out if he was looking at me. Then I considered 'What use would looking at me do?' and tried to stop. I found it challenging.
…
Isn't lunch great? (by the way, the answer is no. Unless your best friend didn't just kiss you. Then it's always yes.)
Well—in retrospect, Sasuke kissing me really couldn't have been awesomer. Of course, I've always imagined it under mistletoe, or after a long day at an amusement park when Naruto couldn't come and it was just us.
However, it just seemed so…awkward. He kissed me, and I just stood there. COMPLETELY DAZED.
Damn, I am an idiot.
So as we ate lunch, Naruto jabbered on about…actually, I really have no idea…and Sasuke and I just sort of attempted to look everywhere but each other.
"—And then I was thinking like, 'well why else would there be a fish in there?' and she just sort of stared at me and said, like I was stupid, 'Because it's a fish tank, and we bought it.' Hello? Did anyone here that story?" He said, looking between me and Sasuke.
"What? Oh, yeah, sorry Naruto. You set the receptionist's fish free," I said, not really paying to attention to what I had just said. It doesn't really matter, I was much more concerned that Sasuke had FRICKEN KISSED ME LAST NIGHT AND I HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT.
Naruto stared at me incredulously. "That's not at all what I said."
"It—You named your goldfish Receptionist but it was stupid," I said, still glancing at Sasuke every few seconds. How Naruto didn't see this is beyond me.
"Sakura!" Naruto whined. He slouched back on the seat. And finally noticed.
"Hey, is everything okay?" He said, looking between, hoping someone would answer. I figured Sasuke wouldn't.
"Yes, Naruto. Everything is exactly the way it was yesterday with nothing having been changed forever because of an unexplained action or anything," I rambled quickly. Yeah, my ability to thrive under pressure could be better.
Naruto looked at me, completely perplexed.
"What?"
"I've gotta finish up some homework," I said, looking up at Sasuke one last time before gathering my things and walking to the library. To sit alone, unfortunately.
…
In Gym, Naruto kept asking me what was wrong. I kept saying 'nothing' over and over again until, admitting defeat, he finally stopped. Either that or he got tired of my slow jogging speed and sprinted away. I'm going with both.
And then there was Statistics (If you didn't already notice, yes, I take two AP math classes. Shut up). We sat in alphabetical order for the beginning of the year, and I was inevitably forced to sit next to Suigetsu. Who was a complete weirdo, and one of Sasuke's lab partners from last year.
"Hey. Sakura, right?" He said, leaning on his desk so he was closer to me.
"Yes, and you're Suigetsu?" Hell, might as well make conversation. At least it's getting my mind off of Sasuke.
"Oh, so word's gotten around? I can't say I'm surprised. I'm sorta famous around here," he said, winking. I just raised my eyebrows.
"Yep. Real famous. Even the teacher can't take her eyes off of you," I remarked, moving my gaze to the teacher, who was indeed glaring at Suigetsu. He shrank back into his seat before taking a swig from his water bottle.
And then the bell rang. And I can't explain why, but I finally found the courage to run over to Sasuke.
"So, are we gonna pretend like last night didn't happen? What's the plan here?" I edged, trying to keep in pace with him. It was not too short of a walk to the parking lot.
"You're annoying."
"You're annoying! Can you just answer for once?" I practically yelled, swinging my arms everywhere as I said it.
"Shut up."
"You shut up! Or answer me, one of the two!" I said, walking in front of him and forcing him to talk. I felt my knees about to give out, but I continued to stand there, trying to look confident.
"I just did it."
"Just like Nike always wanted," I scoffed, still not moving, "Now can I have a real answer?"
"There is no answer. It's an unexplained happening." I wish I could be abducted by aliens and removed from this earth. Then maybe I wouldn't be caught in this happening.
"Except instead of crop circles, we've got circling conversations. PLEASE answer!" I begged, slapping his chest. He looked down at me for a split second then put his face on his hands.
"Can I go to my car?"
"Not until you tell me why you kissed me and we figure out what happens next," I stood still, maneuvering my legs so that I stood right in front of him.
"We go to our cars."
"Sasuke!"
"What?"
"I'm gonna make this simple: Was it based on an impulse?"
"What is this, 20 questions?"
"JUST ANSWER!" I screeched, receiving a few odd looks from around the hallway. I ignored them.
"Yes."
"Was it because of the way the light shined on my hair, or my lips looked in the sunset?" I said, glancing off into an unknown direction. What? A girl can dream.
"What? No," He said, staring at me like I was insane.
"Was it because I'm amazingly smart and witty?" I said, pushing my hair back. I know I'm pushing the envelope. But he's not gonna give me a straight answer anyways, so I might as well.
There was a pause. A PAUSE. Which means he ACTUALLY thought about it.
"This is stupid."
"Sasuke, just answer the goddamn question."
"I'm not playing this game."
"C'mon! It's not that hard! Just say 'yes' or 'no'."
"Let me go to the parking lot."
"LET ME KNOW WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!" I replied, screeching again. At this point there were not too many people in the hallway to stare, and those that did hear either tried or succeeded at ignoring it.
"…I kissed you. And you want to know why." He smirked.
"So tell me, you…jerk…face…" I mumbled, stuttering off at the end. That was a weak insult, admittedly.
"Maybe I just wanted to see what would happen." At least it was SORT OF an answer.
"And what happened?" I said, standing back and putting my hands on my hips. Again, a little bitchy. It's the only way, I swear.
"You went insane."
"YOU MAKE ME THIS WAY!" I yelled, putting my face in my palms. This time was a yell because it sounded less like a dying bird and more like an angry mother.
"Make?" Oops.
"Yes, just like I make you want to kiss me." I turned that well.
"Made, Sakura. Made."
"I say what I mean."
"I'm going home."
"NOT UNTIL YOU FRICKEN TELL ME WHAT THE FRICK IS GOING ON!" I was screeching again. I can't help it, it just happens when I get frustrated.
"Sakura, please just let me go," He said, unenthusiastically gesturing his arms towards the free space in the hallway.
"Please just answer me," I half-whispered. I felt exhausted at this point, tired of arguing.
"If I do will you tell me will you let me go?" Wow. Just…wow.
"Duh," was all I said.
"Sometimes it's nice to not have a girl drooling over me all the time, and instead actually be able to carry a conversation." A little cliché. But it hit the mark it needed to in my head.
And I stood there, silent. I barely noticed him brush my shoulder as he walked past me.
Hope you liked it :) I know the fight scene between Sakura and Sasuke dragged on for a while, but I was struggling to keep them in character. Sasuke isn't really the touchy-feely kind of guy and it didn't seem to fit to have him just be like, "CUZ I LURVE YOU AND YOUR SUPER SEXYYYYY!" even if it is what he wanted to. Jk. But seriously.
Thanks for reading, R&R please! (Actually, if your all the way down here, you probably already one r'd…)
