"It wasn't me!" I shouted. Great Starclan Cloudpaw got on my nerves sometimes! He just accused me of putting fire ants in his nest. By the way, i'm Flamepaw, apprentice of Thunderclan. What's Thunderclan, you ask? Only the greatest clan in the forest!
"Then who was it?" Cloudpaw shouted back.
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe...BLOSSOMPAW?!"
That froze him.
"Oh." He whispered.
I snorted and whipped around.
"Firespirit!" I called to my mentor. "I'm going hunting!"
I walked out the camp entrance and walked towards the twoleg border. I could not believe that had just happened. That mouse-brained idiot. Suddenly i bumped into another cat.
"Hey! Watch where you're go-"
My voice was cut off as a paw pressed to my throat. Claws raked my skin and i could feel the blood oozing out. Then a voice spoke in my ear.
"Watch where you're going." it whispered.
The paw released me and i jumped up, claws out. A black tom was facing me.
"This is Thunderclan territory! Go away!" I hissed.
An amused glint appeared in his eyes at my words.
"Really? Think again." He said softly.
I looked around. I must have passed the border by accident! I turned back around. Too late. Paws slammed into my side and i felt his claws digging into my flank. I gasped in pain before jumping up and dislodging him. Immediately, he leaped again. This time, however, I reared up and met him head on. But he had the advantage of weight. and i was soon on the ground, writhing under his paws.
"Let me go! LET ME GO!" I screeched.
"I don't think so little one." he whispered.
"You'll have to kill me first!"
I instantly regretted that sentence as his claws pressed against my neck. I looked into his eyes fearfully. Ice-blue eyes stared into mind as the world started to go black.
"Please..." I whimpered.
Then i could breathe! I took a deep gasp and cherished all of the oxygen in my lungs. then a screeching ball of fur landed on me and i fought with all my strength. i had the advantage of agility. but he was a seasoned fighter! how was i going to beat him?! Gasping and bloody, I turned and ran back towards my own territory. One eyes was gone and both of my ears were shredded. I knew i was probably not going to survive this, but i would try. My flank slowed me down. I was bleeding so heavily that i hardly registered as i crossed the scent markers back into Thunderclan territory. Then i slipped. I knew i must be close to camp by now, so i yowled painfully and loudly.
"HELP!"
Then the dancing black spots covered my vision and i knew no more.
I froze on his way to the fresh-kill pile. No...No it can't be...
"FLAMEPAW!" I screeched.
My apprentice! My daughter! I tripped over a pile of something on the ground as i ran through the trees and growled before i saw what it was.
"No...Flamepaw..." I whispered.
My name is Firespirit. And my entire world just died.
I walked to the moon-stone. The death of my daughter was still heavy upon my shoulders, but i had a duty to my clan. I would now be Firestar, leader of Thunderclan. Our medicine cat, kestrelflight, walked by my side. Then we arrived and i sat down, bowing my head in grief.
"Flamepaws death was not your fault Firespirit."
"I-I know...but i could have done...something..." I whispered.
Then the stone glowed white and Kesrelflight rested his tail on my shoulder as i pressed my nose to the rock, awaiting the sleep starclan would send. When i woke, the first thing i saw was cats. a lot of cats. A single one stepped forward. Rainstar, our former leader touched her nose to my head.
"Welcome to starclan Firespirit. With this first life i give you the strength to bring your clan through hard times." She whispered.
Pain racked my body and my heart filled with sadness. was this how flamepaw felt before she died? then the next cat stepped forward and i pushed my daughter to the back of my mind.
seven more cats came and i was getting anxious. i wanted to see Flamepaw! Where is my daughter?! And then...she was there...walking towards me...she was just as beautiful in death as she was in life...
"Mother..." she whispered.
I looked into emerald green eyes and lost myself in their depths. then her nose touched mine.
"With this life i give you endurance. use it well to defend your clan as you defended me."
Again, pain was sent through my body. But this was a different pain. it was physical and emotional. i groaned and Flamepaw looked me in the eyes.
"I greet you by your new name. Firestar! Firestar!"
The other cats joined in the chant and i suddenly knew. she would be with me wherever i went. Then i woke to my new life as the leader of Thunderclan and smiled.
"Time to go home." i whispered.
