Mako was nervous as she made her way to Motoki's house, carrying the cake she made with both hands. I hope Motoki-san doesn't mind me coming over, she thought to herself. It's been a while since I've seen him. I haven't gone to the Game Center since Crystal Tokyo was erected. Mako arrived at Motoki's apartment complex and walked up the stairs to his door.

She knocked and said "Motoki-san? It's me Makoto, I heard about Reika and made you a cake!"

She heard some shuffling inside and when the door opened, Mako's heart broke a little inside at the sight of Motoki. His shirt was wrinkled, his eyes had deep bags under them as if he hasn't had sleep in months (even though it'd only been a few days), his eyes were puffy from tears, and his hair was a mess.

"Hi Makoto-san. Excuse my appearance, but please come in." he said.

"Thanks," Mako said quietly. She entered the apartment and immediately noticed the mess.

"Motoki-san this place is a mess! Let me clean it for you. It's the least I can do." Mako said, setting the cake down on a counter in the kitchen.

"That would be nice, thank you Makoto-san." Motoki said with a small smile on his face. "I haven't had time to clean much after all that's happened recently." he said, his expression one of sadness.

"Just call me Mako-chan," Mako said, "I always thought of you as like an older brother." She smiled at him.

Motoki looked up at her and said, "Okay then, so long as you call me Motoki-chan."

"Hmm…deal!" Mako said. Mako remembered the way around the apartment from that one time when she and Usagi decided to cook Motoki dinner. After getting the apartment clean, Mako decided to make Motoki a nice lunch.

"That was delicious Mako-chan! I haven't had a good meal like that in ages!" Motoki said in delight.

"Glad to hear it! Haha," Mako said. "Where have you been eating if you haven't been cooking?"

"I usually just go to Crown Fruit Parlor or one of the nearby diners." said Motoki.

"Oh, well if you ever get the craving for a home-cooked meal, you know my number!" Mako said, winking at Motoki.

He chuckled and said, "Thanks Mako-chan. You've always been a great friend and I know I can always count on you, Usagi-chan, and Mamoru-kun to be there for me." His face turned into an expression of sadness for a moment as he said, "I feel so broken now with Reika gone…but knowing I have such caring friends around me as well as my sister to help me pick up the pieces is a reassuring feeling."

Hearing this, Mako got up from her seat and moved over to Motoki. She sat next to him and put her arms around him, pulling him into a tight hug. "I always look out for my friends and you are no exception Motoki-chan. Whenever you fall, me and the others will be here to help you get right back up. This storm will pass and until it does, your friends will be here to keep you out of the rain."

Mako's words were exactly what Motoki needed to hear that day and he started crying, not out of sadness or grief, but out of joy knowing he will never be alone.

After a few more hours and a piece of cake for them both, Mako said goodbye to Motoki and made her way home. Once there, she quickly put on her pajamas and sat on the couch and watched some of her favorite cooking shows (one being Chopped, now in it's 50th season) before going to bed for the night. Her last thought before falling asleep was, No matter what kind of obstacles those I love are dealing with, I will always be their friend in the storm.

Note: Makoto has always been a great friend! Hope you guys liked it :) Sorry it's been a while, I've been really busy with work and school (I applied to Nursing School and will find out if I got in over Spring Break so keep your fingers crossed! :D) but I'm gonna work on this as much as I can! Also sorry it's so short, but I liked where it ended and thought it was a good place to stop! Thanks for all the support! :)
