In the other world, Sasuke was staring at the night sky with a lot of stars shining above. He and his newly formed teammates, Jugo, Karin, and Suigetsu had finally found the headquarters of the Akatsuki where his older brother was he wasn't thinking about his brother nor the plan right now. Instead, thoughts about a girl were wandering through his mind. A girl who has the same hair color as his, but with jade green eyes very similar to a former teammate's. One who wears a blue dress with an apron attached. He knows that it has been 10 years since he last saw her. "Alice," the unusual name he so clearly remembers the moment it comes out of his mouth. He says her name three times before dozing off into deep sleep.
"Help me!" Sasuke jolts up and notices red-hot flames everywhere. The grass that was once there had been replaced by a black and white checkered floor. He looks up to find a chandlier in flames swinging back and forth violently.
"Sasuke! Help me!" He recognizes that familiar, soft voice from a long time ago. He calls out, "Alice?!"
"Sasuke! Please help me!" He immediately runs to look for her and try to find a way out. Realizing he's inside Alice's old home, Sasuke runs up to a staircase and starts running up the stairs.
"Alice! I'm coming!" He yells. At the top he finds three identical bedroom doors in the hallway, all painted white. Unsure which room Alice is in, Sasuke tries to activate his sharingan eye. But for some reason, it wouldn't respond.
Confused, he tries it again and the result came out the same. "What? Why isn't it working?" he wonders aloud.
Suddenly, he hears a loud scream coming from the door on the right. "ALICE!" Sasuke yells before using his chidori to smash his way in. Flames are burning the entire room, from the drapes to the whole bed. Pulling out his sword in case of a possible attack, he rushes into the raging flames. "Alice! Where are you?!" he shouts.
Over to his right, Sasuke finds Alice facedown in a pool of blood on the floor. "No! No!" he yells, and drops his sword before falling down to the floor, shaking. Sasuke crawls closer to her body, moves her faceup, and holds her. Her chest was multilated and her wounds are still bleeding, but it is her serene, peaceful expression that makes tears stream down his face as he cries for Alice.
Sasuke is still holding Alice when he hears demonic, maniacal, laughter coming from within the dying flames. Anger immediately takes hold of him, and his hands turn into fists of rage. He gently puts her body down and grabs his sword, standing up. Unable to see Alice's killer, Sasuke holds up his sword in a defensive position.
"Oh, Sasuke is that you?" the murderer asks.
Sasuke flinches from the sound of an eerily familiar voice. He shakes it off and angrily shouts, "Where are you?!"
Suddenly, red slimy tentacles shoot out through the flames and grab Sasuke, sending him flying into a wall. He tries to get up, but a tentacle wrapped around his waist. Propelled forward, Sasuke had little time to react when he saw the Queen. He wasn't able to fully make out her appearance because it was obscured by the raging flames, but he did see devilish horns, beady eyes and huge, red hands. The last thing Sasuke saw was one of her hands caressing his right cheek as he heard a low demonic whisper in his ear.
"Sasuke, wake up," Suigetsu whispered in his ear.
"Suigetsu, stop it. It's not working," Jugo said, annoyed.
Suigetsu replied, "Well you try to come up with something then."
They tried to wake Sasuke up for three hours and nothing worked. They decided to take a break. Suigetsu and Jugo went for a stroll and when they came back Sasuke was talking in his sleep. They had no idea what Sasuke was saying because he was talking in another language that neither of them could understand.
Karin was staring at a picture of Sasuke, completely mesmerized by her fantasies, until she heard an irratating, annoying voice.
"Yo Karin!"
"What now, Suigetsu?! Can't you see I'm busy?!" shouted Karin.
Rolling his eyes at her response, Suigetsu tells her about the situation with Sasuke and Karin immediately grabs her bag and speeds to where Jugo and Sasuke are at. She crouches down so she is within range for her perfume to have an effect. She goes through her bag to find it; Puzzled, Jugo asked, "What are you doing?"
"Looking for my perfume."
"You're what? Are you kidding me?" Suigetsu asks, bewildered.
Ignoring his question, Karin keeps going through her bag, until she finally finds it.
"I got it!" She says, holding up a lilac colored bottle of perfume, which she then sprays on Sasuke's face. He starts to turn his head towards her.
"It's working," said Karin cheerfully. His eyes slowly open, and he finds that his vision is a bit hazy.
"I think it may have worked a little too much," Suigetsu whispers to Jugo.
"Oh ha ha ha, you realize I can hear you," Karin sarcastically remarks, glaring at Suigetsu. Suddenly, Sasuke jumps up and tackles Karin. Jugo and Suigetsu become shocked and concerned the moment Sasuke takes out his sword and places the tip on her chest.
"Whoa! Dude, what are you doing?!" Suigetsu shouts, confused by his friend's sudden behavior.
"Sasuke! Let Karin go!" Jugo exclaims, concerned for his teammates' safety.
"Sa-Sa-Sasuke?" Karin whispered, frightened for her life.
Sasuke's eyes start to darken as he coldly stares at his enemy, The Red Queen. How he wants to wipe that evil, cold smile off her face. The blade is ready for a quick and painful kill; "For Alice," Sasuke whispers. Finally, the Queen would have what she deserves. He was about to strike her down like an animal when-
"Sasuke! Snap out of it!" Jugo is able to stop Sasuke from killing Karin in the nick of time by shoving him and taking his sword away. Sasuke blinks his eyes twice and sees his whole team staring at him, mortified. He looks at a terrified, shocked Karin and he realizes what he just did.
"Karin, I... look, I didn't mean to..."
"It's okay, I forgive you. What happened to you though?"
"Yeah, what was it that made you tried to kill Karin," Suigetsu asks, curious.
Jugo questioned, "What was it?"
He wants to tell them that it was a nightmare, but would they even believe him if he tells them the reason why or that this wasn't the first time it has happened to him? Besides, he doesn't want his teammates to worry when they have an important mission to do. "No, it was nothing," he lies.
*Flashback* Sasuke's POV (10 years earlier)
He'll never find me here. Itachi and I have been playing hide and seek for 20 minutes now in the forest. I'm the one hiding while he tries to find me. He has no idea that I'm inside this cool hollow tree. I feel tempted to make echo noises because it's funny.
Then, a blue butterfly suddenly appears out of nowhere right in front of me. I jump; I had never seen it in the forest before which made me curious. The butterfly starts to fly out of the tree. Aww man, it's getting away! I want to go after it, but I don't want to lose the game. If I leave my hiding spot, Itachi will see me and I'll lose!
The butterfly seems to keep getting away from me when I try to catch it. I had left my hiding spot a few minutes ago so I could catch the butterfly and show it to Itachi once the game ends. Does the butterfly even know where it's going?! I notice the trees look different from before. Why do all the trees look weird? Pushing that thought aside, I keep following the butterfly when—*small, soft laughter*
What was that? I quickly turn around, but nobody is there. I know it doesn't sound like my big brother; the laugh sounded way too high to be him. Could it be coming from a girl? I didn't see any girl coming into the forest anywhere - *soft laughter*
There it is again; this better be good. Immediately, a girl appears, running. She's wearing a kimono, except it doesn't look like one at all. Why is she running? Where did she come from? I decide to follow her instead of the stupid butterfly who's probably just fluttering to some random flower. As I try to follow the strange girl, she seems to move faster than me and it would've pissed me off if she hadn't stopped in another part of the forest... I think.
I walked to where she's standing and then, I ask her, "What are you doing here?" I see her move a bit, and then she turns around... wow. Her hair is the same exact color as mine (without the headband she's wearing), her skin's fair, and her eyes are wide and green like a jade. The sandals she's wearing look strange, I don't see any toes coming out.
"Where did you come from?" I ask again. The girl's head cocks a bit to the side, and she has a puzzled expression on her face. Why does her head move like a bird? Finally, she says something but all I hear is weird gibberish coming from her mouth. Frustrated, I yell, "What are you trying to say?!" This girl is confusing me! I have no idea what language she is even speaking. I don't recall even hearing it in the academy before. Could it be in Code or... wait, she might be an enemy of Konoha in disguise! Heh! Good luck trying to fit in with that costume.
I pull my kunai knife out of my shinobi bag, point it directly at her, and demand, "who are you working for?! Why did you come here?!" I must've spooked her or something, because she takes a step backward, but then... she falls down a huge rabbit hole! I can hear her screaming as she falls: I have to help her, but she's the enemy! Itachi would tell Father, then I'll get punished and I don't want that! But, what if she isn't an enemy at all? For all I know, she's just an ordinary girl, lost and confused. Plus, she's the same age as me.
Taking a deep breath, I jump into the hole. It's too dark to even find a glimpse of her blue kimono at first, but somehow as I keep going down, the hole starts to brighten. Whoa, what the? The sides of the hole are filled with cupboards and bookshelves; I also see maps and pictures hung on pegs. Wait till Itachi hears about this! This is so cool!
Then, I hear a loud, girly voice coming from below. It's her! The strange girl is only a few inches from me and it looks like she's talking to herself for some reason. She doesn't seem to be in danger now, even though she was screaming before. Then again, she could be just trying to distract herself. Well, I don't want to let her think she's alone so...
"Hey, grab my hand," I tell her.
*End of flashback*
Author's notes: So, what do you think? I was thinking of adding a couple of flashbacks where it shows how Alice and Sasuke met and became friends. Finals has arrived! *yay!* (sarcastic) Right now, chapter 3 is still a work-in-progress, but you can read/review my other stories if you like.
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto nor Alice. (Reminder)
