Authors Note: I'm sorry I haven't updated in over three months! School takes up most of my time. (And I'm lazy.) Thank you so much for the comments! :D How does Jack react to what just happened?

Jack's POV

Elizabeth Lemon. Maybe sometime soon Elizabeth Donaghy. But we have an obstacle. Avery Jessup, the current Mrs. Donaghy, has been investigating my life for the past two weeks. "Where are you going?" "With Who?" "For how long?" "Are you going to sleep with her?" Well not that last one exactly but, she did accuse me of having an affair. I was but why did she have to be the kind of women that inspects rather then the one that's lives through her marriage clueless until they get a divorce?

Late Friday night

"Oh my God, are you serious? Who could that be at this time of night?" Liz asked annoyed.

"I don't know, Lemon. But keep quiet just in case." I say before walking around the corner. I open the door and it reveals Avery.

"A-Avery, what are you doing back so early?" I say this a little loud so Liz can hear me and hide. I hear a little shuffling and can already tell she has chosen a bad hiding spot

"Nothing you need to worry about. Why do you sound so upset aren't you happy to see me again?" Of course I'm not.

"Of course I am, Avery." I'm really not.

We go silent for a minute then Avery asks "Have you been drinking? You smell like alcohol."

"A little." Oh please.

She glares at me then we walk further inside the house, which was something I was not anticipating.

There's a short pause until Lemon thinks she whispers "That fucking bitch better not..."

"Nice hiding spot Liz." She says sarcastically and angrily while acknowledging Lemon.

Avery comes around the couch and drags Liz up by the arm. She jerks away then says "Let go of me." Avery glares at her then looks like she's about to say something. But Liz talks first instead. "Don't mess with Avery. I've had quite a few drinks and I will fight you." I snort a little then Liz roles her eyes at me.

"I've got a few choice words to say to you. Get in the kitchen." Avery says.

"I'll go into the kitchen but by my own choice." Liz responds.

They walk into the kitchen and I don't hear much of what they say in there. But after a few moments Liz shouts, "Wh-What the hell, Avery?!" I hear that very clearly. After that I move closer to the door to hear what's being said.

"Now you listen to me you little cunt. If I ever see you talking to, around, or simply walking by Jack, you will wish you never met either of us."

I back away from the door in shock. Just in time too, Liz came running out of the kitchen. "Lemon!" I called after her. She kept on and ran out the door.

Avery walked out of the kitchen with an accomplished smile on her face which quickly faded when I walked over to her.

"What did you do to her?" I demanded. The part of the conversation that I did hear was enough to know that she did something awful.

"Nothing. I did nothing." She lies.

"Avery, what did do say to Li-" She cuts me off.

"I told you I did nothing. Don't keep asking me or else you'll never, ever, see her again."

She won't do a damn thing.

Monday

As I do every Monday, I was on my way to the elevator to go to the 52nd floor. I see Lemon looking drearily into space inside the elevator.

"Lemon!" I say while running up to her. She glances at me then starts jabbing at what most likely is the close door button. By the time I actually made it to the elevator she scurried off because the elevator door wouldn't close fast enough.

Later

I remember what Avery said to Liz and I really don't give a shit. But Liz has taken her seriously. She should have, but I can't stand her avoiding me! Also as long as I'm around Avery will not hurt her.

It's almost noon and she hasn't come up or called once today. Since I can't take it anymore I call her.

"Hello, this is Liz."

"Le-" She cuts me off before I can even finish her name.

"Oh God, Jack! What do you want? Avery could be tracing this call right now!"

"Good Lord. Lemon, that threat means nothing to me."

"You heard that?"

"Avery wasn't as quiet as she could have been. And when you shouted I started to eavesdrop."

"How much did you hear?"

"Not everything. Just the end of the conversation."

"Oh, okay..." She sounded a little relieved.

"What happened?"

"Nothing."

"Lemon, something happened. You don't just yell 'What the hell Avery.'"

"Maybe I just like to yell that sometimes. Avery has 'what the hell' moments all the time." She's hiding something. I can tell.

"Though that is true, what did she do? Did she hit you? Lemon, I swear if-!"

"No! She didn't do anything."

"Really?"

"Really."

"Really?"

"REALLY."

"Okay..."

"You still don't believe me."

"You were never a good liar."

She hesitates at first but then finally says "Can I come up?"

"Anytime Lemon."

In less than two minutes there's a knock at the door. I assume its Liz and say, "Come in."

The door opens and reveals none other than Avery.

"Oh, good God!"

"What a nice greeting." She says sardonically with a fake smile.

"What are you doing here?"

"Oh, I just wanted to see my husband." She lies. "Can't a wife visit her husband?"

"You're only here to see if Liz has come up today."

"That completely slipped my mind."

Just then the door creaks open and Liz pokes her head in but quickly leaves afterwards.

I sigh. "Avery, don't you have better things to do?"

"Mmmm. Yeah. So?"

"Please leave."

"I'll leave, but by my own choice."

She walked off with anger in every step. A little while after Liz walks in.

"I assume Avery's gone now." She says while closing the door behind her.

"Yes... So, what did you want to talk about?"

"Right. Damn, I didn't think I'd get this far..."

"Well, you did."

Liz scoffs. "Anyways. Um, well, I lied before..."

"Yes, I already knew that."

She roles her eyes. "Yeah, Avery did do something."

"What?"

"She... She slapped me."

Typical Avery. "Well-" I start.

"It's nothing! She had a right. I was about to have sex with her husband."

"That still doesn't mean I can't be mad at the fact that she hit you!"

"It was a slap not a hit. There's a difference. Don't worry it won't happen again."

"We don't know that."

"We do. Cause we're gonna stop hanging out." She says while moving towards the door.

In a swift move I'm around the desk and I grab her arm.

"No." I said almost pleading.

She gives me a sad look. "Get rid of her and I'll think about it."

I let go and she walks out of my office.

Two divorces won't be all that bad.

Wednesday Morning

"I want a divorce." I say to Avery as she walks in the kitchen.

She scoffs. "As if."

"Avery, I'm not interested in playing with you."

"Nor am I."

"I got divorce papers yesterday. Sign them."

I toss the papers on the table and she picks them up and reads them over.

"Sorry, not in the mood."

"Avery, I swear-"

"Listen, Donaghy. The only way you're going to get me to sign those papers is with my cold dead hand."

"I'd be happy to make that happen."

"It's not happening so don't get your hopes up on getting remarried for the fourth time."

I look at her strangely. She knows about my previous marriages, but only about one of them. "Third. You mean third. It will be only three times I've gotten married."

"I meant what I said. Did you really think you could keep it a secret that you and Liz got married at our wedding?" Shit.

"Not really."

"Not like it matters anyways. She'll be your fourth wife. You can't seem to hang on to them. What makes you think you think you can hold on to this one? The first time you married her you lost her in less then a week."

"That's because I was still married to you when you weren't such a bitch."

"Hush. She's emotionally unstable. You aren't the kind of person she could actually be with. Not like you could keep her anyways. You're too quick to propose. She'll need time that you won't give her."

I'm at a lost for words, considering how what she's saying is true. "Just sign the damn papers." I say quietly while getting from my chair and walking out of the kitchen.

Is she right?
