Hello everyone!
It's been a few long years since I last posted anything here.
I started getting the itch to write again and remembered some of these old stories that I had begun to write and never finished.
Well...I'm back, and decided to write some more for this story.
I'm rewriting the last two chapters I posted and continuing from there.
I will be leaving up the original two chapters for now until I decide I want to take them down (if I ever decide to).
Hopefully my writing has improved over the years.
Hope you all enjoy the story.
The night was a quiet one.
Jim continued to patrol around Kadic Academy as usual; making sure that no one was out breaking the rules.
Up in Jeremey's room, Aelita and him sat having a discussion about how to finally get rid of Xana once and for all.
"There has to be a way," Jeremey said. "I know we can stop him."
"I do too Jeremey," replied Aelita. "But with my memories still trapped there we still can't break free of him."
Jeremey placed his head into his hands, frustrated.
"Don't worry," Aelita said. "I'm sure the answer will come to us in time. We'll definitely beat him."
With that said, she gave him a hug. Jeremey leaned into her and smiled a little.
Yeah…" he responded.
They sat there in silence after that...enjoying the closeness they were sharing.
…
Ulrich and Yumi were walking in the direction of Yumi's home. The night surrounded them, only held at bay by the light from the street lamps that lined the path they walked on.
Ulrich…" Yumi started, breaking the silence as they walked. He looked in her direction before responding, "Yeah?"
She hesitated for a moment, and then asked, "Do you think this will ever end?"
He cocked his head to the side a little; a questioning look on his face.
"Our fight with Xana…' She responded with a worried look on her face.
She brought her hands up to towards her mouth before continuing, "Sometimes it feels like this will never end…"
Ulrigh slowed down his pace before stopping and closing his eyes for a moment.
Yumi stopped in response, staring at him, wondering what he was thinking.
"Yumi…" Ulrich began, opening his eyes. "We will beat Xana."
Yumi looked into his eyes and saw the determination behind them.
"What makes you so sure?" She asked.
"Well…" Ulrich responded pensively. "We brought Aelita here to the real world when it seemed impossible didn't we?" He smiled at her as he said this. "We can definitely win."
Yumi lowered her hands and felt a smile come across her face.
"You know something Ulrich?" She said, looking more relaxed. "You're absolutely right."
Her smile grew wider. "Thanks Ulrich."
Ulrich smiled in return. "No problem."
They continued to walk on, lightly holding hands.
…
Odd was in his room..bored for the moment. He decided to take out his handheld and start playing some games to pass the time. A little while later, he heard a knock on his door.
Putting his handheld down, he smiled as he opened up the door.
"Why hello there my Queen," He said with a smirk and slight bow.
"Oh cut it out Odd," replied the girl at his doorway, blushing a little before going into his room.
This caused Odd's smirk to get wider.
"What's the matter Samantha? Can't take a compliment?" He said teasingly.
She pouted in response.
Odd went up and hugged her.
"Sorry Sam," He said with a grin that said he wasn't really sorry. "But you know I can't help it when I'm around you."
She blushed a little more before pushing him back a little and giving him a playful hit.
They spent the rest of the time after that either talking about various things or playing games together.
…
Despite the normalness of the night, not everything was quite the same as always.
This night, someone else was at Kadic.
Had anyone been in the forest surrounding the academy they would have seen a boy wandering around.
Nothing about the boy was particularly noticeable...except for what was on his wrist.
He wore a black wristband with a gold yin-yang symbol.
A strange vibe could be felt coming off of it.
Although he didn't know why, his instincts screamed to never remove it, and so he always left it on.
The night air was cool. The leaves rustled softly as the soft sound of his footsteps joined the chorus.
He had a confused look on his face.
"How did I end up here?"
He tried to think back but could only draw a blank.
He shook his head, slightly frustrated.
Had he been paying attention to his surroundings, he would have noticed someone sneaking up on him.
It wasn't until he felt the barrel of a gun against his back that he realized someone else was there.
"Give me any valuables you have," he heard a man's voice say. "Don't try anything funny."
For some reason, the boy felt no fear, and calmly responded, "I don't have any valuables."
A moment of silence passed.
"Alright then," the man responded, before striking the boy in the head, causing him to fall to his knees.
"I'll be taking this then," the man said, ripping the wristband off of him before knocking him to the ground.
As he was walking away, he felt a cold surge up his spine and immediately turned around.
The boy was standing again with his head bowed.
The man was surprised but immediately pointed the gun at him and yelled out, "Get back on the ground!"
The boy didn't respond.
The cold feeling the man felt intensified. He felt himself shaking a little.
After a moment, he took a step forward, keeping the gun pointed at the boy and barked out, "Do it now!"
The boy remained motionless for a moment longer, before finally lifting his head and looking at the man.
The man froze.
All he could see in the boy's eyes was his own impending death.
He screamed and immediately pulled the trigger.
A few gunshot echoed through the forest, before they stopped, and the usual forest sounds once again took their place.
…
It was now morning at Kadic Academy.
Though today was quite different from most mornings.
Nervous tension filled the air as students and staff alike were going through their routines.
Talk of a body being found in the forest had spread like wildfire after a news report came out stating that the body of notorious robber/assassin David Foster had been found.
He was infamous for his tactics on robbery and murder. To hear that was dead made people wonder and feel afraid.
The CL gang sat in their usual spot in the cafeteria, talking about the death of David Foster as they ate.
"It's strange, don't you think?" Jeremey said, as they ate breakfast. "I mean, who would have thought, a guy like him ending up dead just like that? What could have happened?"
"I don't think we even want to know," Ulrich said, taking a bite of his croissant. "I mean, just look at how they found him."
"His face beaten in, almost all his bones broken, his head cracked open..." Jeremey said, thinking.
"Maybe we should just stop thinking about it for now," Yumi said.
"Yeah," Aelita said. "It's scary. Who or what could have done this to him?"
"I don't think we want to know that," Odd said. "I mean, what if the guy is some maniac with a steel pipe and crazy looking eyes just waiting to get us?"
The gang went silent.
…
Around the same time, the boy woke up.
For a moment, he didn't move.
"Where am I?"
He sat up and looked around.
He appeared to be in an old building.
Its appearance gave the impression that it was abandoned.
"How did I end up here?" He thought.
He took a look at himself, noting that he was covered in a little bit of dirt.
He then took a look at his wrist and noticed that the yin-yang symbol was on the wrong side.
The boy stared in surprise...and horror.
"Did he pull this off?"
He turned the symbol back into its proper position.
"Is this why I can't remember?"
The boy thought harder before sighing out loud in frustration.
"No good, I can't remember."
He stood up and looked around for an exit.
He took note of the crumbling interior. He spotted an elevator shaft that seemed to be in fairly good condition despite how old the rest of the building was. Despite the curiosity, he made a move towards the exit that he saw near the elevator shaft.
Stepping outside after finding the exit, he surveyed his surroundings.
He realized now that he had been inside an abandoned factory.
"Odd place for a factory" He thought.
The sound of water drew his attention, followed by the sight of a bridge as he made his way towards the sound.
He crossed the bridge and began to find his way out of the forest.
"I start school today…"
Hopefully this is an improvement from when I first started writing this.
It seems this story never left my head and so I decided to write it over again with this new fresh look on it.
The new set of chapters will be posted right after the second chapter is rewritten.
I hope you all enjoyed it.
