He turned to the door of the close, working with the lock on the door, he managed to tear the door open, and suddenly a hair splitting scream belted out of the small girl.

"Fuck!" Soul shoved himself through the door quickly, bolting down to cover the girl's mouth. They locked eyes and he was hit with a wave of pity for her. She looked so scared, pale and wet cheeks. He could see where a past black eye was, and just below that was a thick dark scar. "Don't worry," He said, hoping to sooth her. "I got that Jack guy and his friends to run for the hills."

Her scream was muffled, and she stopped, realizing he wasn't attacking her. "He really did beat on you, huh?" Maka kept her eyes connected with his as she nodded, biting her cheek as he pulled his hand away from her mouth. She tried to stop her tears from falling, and her chest from caving in as her breath was calming.

"Who.. Are you? " She asked after a minuet of quietly trying to calm down. Soul nearly fell at the sound of her voice. It was so soft, he had no idea a voice could have that effect on a man. Let alone someone as cool as he, but damn, her voice.

"I'm Soul. I saw you run past and I figured you could use a bit of help, seeing as it was three to one, and the odds weren't looking too good." He stuck out his hand to her. Maka quickly wiped her eyes and moved to sit on her knees, taking his hand and giving it a light squeeze.

"Oh-Soul Eater Evans, if I'm right?" She said, smiling up to him with pink cheeks. Soul nodded, that voice.. Her voice, purring out his name, it was such a weird feeling. He has talked to loads of girls, but this girl was giving him a feeling, he felt it in his core, in his soul. He straightened himself up and stood, helping her up as well.

"Yeah, that's me. Guess news travels fast." He said, smirking and moving out of the closet.

"Who can ignore a name like yours?" She smiled, following him out and shutting the door behind her. In truth, she had firstly thought nothing more of him than just another rough boy here to fool around and drop out after a week; but as he kept his grades up decent enough, and his name went around as being famous for never losing a hand to hand fight, Maka hand grown interested. She had asked around, and for some reason his name just felt.. Comfortable for her. She fixed her skirt, tugging it down to the correct length, before walking along beside him.

"So, who are you?"

"Maka Albarn." She grinned, grabbing his arm, glad he wasn't making her talk about her situation with those boys. "Thank you, for helping me out. I am okay enough in a fight, but I honestly need a lot of work. It really is appreciated, what you did."

Soul repeated her name in his head a few times, liking the way it sounded. "No problem." They walked along, she parted with him with a smile and a wave, before going into her class and bowing an apology. Her pile of books were untouched luckily, and she was able to get to her desk without causing too much of a distraction to the class.

Soul continued to walk, watching Maka as she walked into her class, until she was out of sight. He continued on to his first class, pushing his hands back into his pockets. He wondered if he would see her again. Maka Albarn. Cute name.
