Hi Everyone. Thank you so much to everyone who reviewed and/or favorited/followed! I really love to read you reviews, I love to here what you think. Sorry about not updating sooner. Please review, it would mean a lot! Thanks for reading!
All of a sudden there was a knock on the door and the doctor walked in. I was yanked away from my heart shattering thoughts of the pain that Tobias experienced. The doctor walked to the end of the bed, and Tobias stood up and sat in the chair next to the bed.
"Hello Tris, I am Doctor Williams. It's a pleasure to meet you." the doctor said.
"Hi." I replied
"It's good you're awake, I am just going to check you vitals and run a few tests to make sure everything is healthy." he said.
"Okay." I replied still a little distracted by the conversation Tobias and I had just had.
"Alrighty, let's get started and hopefully then we will have a better idea of when you will be able to get back on you're feet." he said with a smile then turned to look at the computer.
I looked over at Tobias who was looking over at the door thinking about something. I wanted to say something to him, but wasn't sure what to say, especially with the doctor in the room. I stared down at my hand scarred with cuts and bruises from the weeks prior of intense war and controversy. It feels odd in a way to not be running from someone or something, or not fearing someone being out to kill you. I pulled myself out of my thoughts and stared out small window looking out to the hall.
"Okay, so you vitals all look normal, I am going to take a look at your stomach and head wound, and a blood a sample to send to the lab." Dr. Williams said.
I nodded at him, letting him know it was fine with me.
"So if you could please lay flat on your back so I can take a look."
I did as told, ignoring the slight pain when I moved. He pulled the hem of my hospital shirt up and I instantly felt uncomfortable. I pushed the thought aside and just let it go. He started to unwrap the wound from its many layers of bandage aside slowly trying not to cause me any more pain than necessary. Once he had fully unwrapped it, he studied it for a few moments, than spoke.
"It is healing well, considering the injury and intensity of the shot. Some of the stitches are falling out and your wound is beginning close up, with new skin growing. It is going to feel irritating for a while, but you are making great progress. I have no doubt you will make a full recovery, as long as you follow all instructions and keep up with you medicine."
"That's great" Tobias said.
"Okay, so I am going to run this to the lab and unless there are any other or unannounced issues, you can be discharged in two to three days." he said, then turned to his computer and typed something.
I looked over at Tobias and smiled, I am so glad I can finally leave this place, even though I have only woke up this morning, I hate being stuck in this room hooked up to a bunch of wires. It reminds me too much of when I went to Erudite and Jeanine hooked me up to all kinds of machines and I couldn't move.
Dr. Williams finished his typing on the computer and said goodbye us and left. Tobias got up from the chair and resumed his spot next to me on the bed. We laced our fingers together and sat in silence for a few moments. I then broke the silence.
"I am glad I am being discharged soon. I hate being stuck in this bed with tons of wires hooked up to me."
"Me too, it is not exactly comfortable to sleep upright in a chair." He said jokingly.
I smiled. Then I began to think about where we would go when I was discharged, we didn't really have a permanent home and place to stay at this point.
"What are you thinking about?" Tobias asked.
"Where are we going to go after I get discharged? I mean we could stay here, but this isn't really where I would want to live, after everything that's gone on here."
"I not sure, but I feel the same way about staying here, we don't belong here. The city will always be our home. Where do you want to live or could see yourself living?"
"I am not sure, it feels as if we don't belong anywhere." I said.
He stares at me for a few seconds then replied.
"Tris, we are broken, but so is everyone else. The challenge now is putting the pieces back together and building a new life for ourselves. Is is going to be challenging? Of course, but we are strong and we can do it. We have before and we can again."
