Chapter 3 - Baking to Sweets.
...
Charlie and Mike were falling down the hole from inside the machine's trap after Charlie had regretfully ate the mini heart cake. The hole was so enormously deep that it was a pretty rough landing afterwards. It was like falling down a rabbit hole from Alice in Wonderland. The Bucket boy soon landed on some like it strange dry mixture in a giant pan as he swatted the dust in the air by the impact of his fall.
He then felt something below him moving. "Hey! Get off me you skinny freak!" Yelled Mike's angry voice. "You ain't no blanket you know!"
Charlie quickly got off of Mike's back before the Teavee boy sat up and spit out some dry mixture from his mouth. "Oh sorry Mike. I'm just glad you're okay." Charlie said. He soon winced while feeling terrible pain in his legs since the fall was very rough. Though the bones in his legs didn't break. If only he hadn't are that mini cake in the first place, and now they don't know where they are.
The boys looked around after noticing that they're in a big pan as the room seemed to be like some sort of a giant kitchen while the pan was on some convadorbelt that leads to the giant oven as there were pipes and stuff. "Where the heck are we?" Mike asked seemingly shocked as well.
"It seems like we're in some kind of giant mixing bowl." Charlie replied.
"Wait, as in that Wonka guy makes giant desurts. Man does that weirdo have a big stomach. I thought he would be bathing in this heap at first." Mike snickers. Charlie can't help but smile as he seemed to admire Mike's chuckling. A blush soon appear on his cheek while his heart was skipping a beat. "What are you looking at?" Mike frowned. "Urm..., nothing." Charlie quickly turned away.
"Well why the hell would Mr Wonka keep this secret place forbidden and how do we get out of this here?" Mike asked while looking around.
"I'm not sure where the exit is. It's our first time being in here." Charlie stated.
"Then I guess I'll just have to use this." The Teavee kid then took out an object out of his pocket that looked shaped as a phone.
"What is that Mike?" Charlie asked quite concerned.
"Duh, it's a Walkie talkie." Mike respond.
"Why use that a toy, why not use a moble phone?" Charlie asked the technologist.
"You ever seen a movie Back to the future you idiot? If Marty McFly can use mobile instead of a toy, he wouldn't have been able to make communication with Doc Brown in the 19th century in the wild west! Plus, right now we're in this stupid chocolate factory and who knows what unpredictable things could occur."
Man, he really is a mumbler.
"I'm sorry Mike, but I don't seem to get the point on what you're talking about." Charlie replied apologetically.
Mike sighed heavily. "Look Bucket, just because you seem to care for me doesn't make an excuse for you to not understand movies. It doesn't involve anything with math or physics, you know."
Charlie looked down with small sadness and worry if they'll ever be able to return to the group. But what does he know, it would be all been avoided if Mike wouldn't be touching that machine.
(*Meanwhile*)
Mr Wonka has escorted the remaining group in the guess room somewhere near the Nut Room while they were waiting for the boys to return. Grandpa Joe was seemingly worried for his grandson and hoping if he'll ever return to them safe while he and the others were sitting on comfortable chairs. Mr Wonka has already sent out the Oompa Loompas to search for the two missing boys.
Suddenly, there was a buzzing vibrating sound coming from...Mr Teavee's pocket? He soon realized that it was a Walkie talkie that he and Mike have been saving. He was wondering who could be calling him right now as he slowly take out his toy-phone. Everyone in the guess room looked on with attentively before Mr Teavee could hear a familiar voice coming out of the walkie talkie.
"Aged avian! Aged avian! This is sly wolf, do you read?!"
No doubt that it could be his son. The Teavee father hesitated carefully before he spoke on the toy phone after a few seconds. "Uh...Mike? Is that you?"
"Of course it's me and you should be calling me by my alt nickname like in most spy movies!" Mike said with a little irritation in his tone.
"Son, where are you? We're in the guest room waiting for you! Plus Charlie is looking for you right now and so are the Oompa Loompas."
"Well actually dad, Charlie is with me right now. We have fallen through a deep hole from inside some forbidden machine like it was some kind of a magnet." Mike's voice explained.
Hearing this, Mr Wonka shot his head up and stood up from his seat before he quickly rushed towards the walkie talkie. "How were you able to go anywhere near it young man? It was locked up tight and nobody has ever know what the code is." He spoke with anxious in his tone.
"Well actually..., I just had to use my damn scientific capabilities to crack the system. Right now we're in some kind of a wired giant mixing bowl."
"Oh,no...," Mr Wonka whispered with worry.
"'Oh,no'? What do you mean 'Oh,no'? How are we gonna get them out of there?" Mr Teavee asked the chocolate genius in panic. He wasn't very happy to noticed a worried expression of Willy Wonka's face.
"I'm afraid that they're in a secret level of this factory and I'm sorry. I can't let you all go there because I don't have any trust for ya'll, no offence. The boys will have to reach towards one of my glass elevators that has many buttons of every rooms. It can go long ways, slant ways, side says and any other ways you can think of. But some of them could be very dangerous, but it's the least what they should do." Mr Wonka explained.
"You're saying that...that we have to find an escape on our own?!" asked Charlie's frightened voice.
"I'm afraid so, little boy. But not to worry, you're going to be just fine if you follow my instructions. Unless it you...wait a second?!" Mr Wonka's face then turned troubled. "What did you say the room looked like again?"
"I said that we're in some kind of a giant mixing bowl and that there's a giant oven besides it with a conveyor belt." Mike's voice stated.
"Oh,no! No no no, you guys can't be in there! Y'ALL NEED TO GET OUT OF THERE QUICK!" Mr Wonka shouted which startled everyone.
"Why is that..., " Charlie's voice studdered.
"That forbidden machine happens to be a trap for any hungry living nutritions that would eat up my famous heart mini cakes!" Mr Wonka explained. Wait, living nutrition? Man, this is a weird factory.
"Living nutrition?" Charlie's voice asked in confusion.
"Yes. Some ingredients that the Oompa Loompas made could be a slight error that brings any candy to life and that they could be highly unstable. So we had to build a machine to put in end to them by making them out of cocoa bean cookies and..., please tell me you didn't eat the mini cake?" Wonka's voice was trembling with extreme worry.
"Well...actually Mr Wonka -" Charlie's voice was then cut out.
"I'm the one who started that machine and give him a mini cake. I'm sorry but I didn't know that damn machine could be like a trap!" Mike's voice explained.
"Oh dear!" Wonka's face slapped his face on the palm of his hand until he looked back at the walkie talkie. "You guys really need to get out of there ASAP! There's an iron ladder at the end of the room. But you need to hurry because every hour when the victim falls into a trap the oven, convadorebelts and pipes could start activating and you guys will never make it then." Mr Wonka said as both Grandpa Joe and Mr Teavee looked on with worry. "The oven will start activating in 5:00pm and right now it is-,"
"4:56pm." Veruca checked her watch.
"Right. You children have to move fast or else you both will get baked and made out of cakes for sure." Mr Wonka declared.
"Right. You heard him Charlie, we need to find an escape fast."
The call had soon ended. Nobody in the guest room dared to utter a word. Wonka then turns around now with a bright cheerful expression as if nothing had has happen. "Alright, anyone want any refreshments while we wait?"
(*Back with the boys*)
"There's gotta be a laser somewhere!" Mike shouted. "It just be all the way over there!" He pointed at the distance where the laser is. "Follow me!"
"Okay," Charlie was about to jump off until a loud buzzer sounded off. It was 5:00pm and the conveyors started moving "We gotta move fast Bucket!" Mike yelled.
They saw four colorful pipes as the lights that is attached to them have turned on. The first pipe started to shake before giant egg yolk came down and splats on both of the boys. "Agh! Gross!" Mike wiped the yolk off. Other pipe soon let out series of sugar cane out which caused them to fall from their feet. Next the oil came down from the next pipe and splashes on Charlie and Mike making the mixture more soggy for them to walk on. Next the last pipe brings out several but cocoa beans just to make cocoa bean cookies the boys dodged their heads to avoid being hit.
"Mike, we really just get off this bowl-," Charlie didn't finish his sentence when the mixing device came down and mixes the cookie mix along with the boys while making it difficult for them to swim out of the bowl. Thanks to the cocoa beans, the mixture then turned brown as in it's now a chocolate mixture. The bowl soon poured them into the pan before the conveyor belt leads them to the next baking level.
Mike spitted out some mixture that got into his mouth. "Oh my god, that was too much sugar!" He yelled. "I freaking hate this!"
Charlie swam as fast as he could, but the Bucket boy could still feel like he's losing control as Mike meanwhile was struggling with the gooey cookie mix and ingredients, and he seemed to be a lot more successful.
"Mike there's the ladder! We just have to be a couple more meteors towards it and we'll be safe." Charlie replied.
"Urm, I'm not sure that we can!" Mike said. And to no doubt, he was right. They were now heading towards the giant rolling pin so that the cookie mix will be rolled flat. Mike used all his strength to jump towards the nearby bars before he noticed that Charlie was falling behind. The Bucket boy was having a hard time freeing himself from the gooey mixture while swimming desperately through the waves of the uncooked dough. There were only short minutes left to save the kid.
"Agh! Do I have to rescue this kid myself?!" Mike thought anxiously. He then lowered down a bit and reach out his hand. "Quick! Grab onto my hand, Bucket!"
Charlie stretched out his arm forward to Mike's as far as he could. Mike successfully grabbed him and pulled him closer as the Bucket boy climbed on to the bars before the cookie dough was soon squashed by the giant rolling pin. Now they are both out of the mixture safe and sound. They soon jumped from bar to bar while heading closer towards the ladder. Mike soon brings out his walkie talkie.
"Aged avian! This is sly wolf, do you copy?" He spoke to the toy phone.
"Mike?! Where are you now son, are you two anywhere safe?!" Mr Teavee's voice asked from the other line.
"I told you to call me by my spy name and we're almost towards the ladder and out of this room!" Mike said.
"Okay, good!" said Mr Wonka's voice. "Now when you two exit this room, I want to tell you guys that there can be-,"
Mike soon dropped his walkie talkie by accident when he jumped towards the last bar with Charlie. The walkie talkie soon landed on the cookie mixture before it sinks down while it's power had shortened out. "Hello-, You guys ar...hel-...," The walkie talkie could no longer work while losing the power line before it was then brought into the cooking oven to be baked. Mike has now lost his walkie talkie, which is now completely destroyed.
"Dang it!" The computer genius growled while he banged his fist on the bar. Though he doesn't seem to care how painful it felt.
"It's alright Mike. I'm sure your dad will get you another one next time." Charlie said. The mixture was now raising steam to the ceiling as the machine was now baking all the ingredients for the cocoa bean cookies as sweet scent flies through the air. "I can't imagine that Augustus kid who would be gobbling us up if we were baked in that junk!" Said Mike with disgust while imagining the thought being devoured by the greedy German kid as a cookie. Both the boys, still covered in chocolate liquid, soon made to the ladder and grab into it.
"Let's just hope that everything will be okay for us later on." The Bucket boy said. "And Mike?"
"What?" The computer kid turned to face Charlie.
"Thanks for saving my life." He smiled while he blushed a bit.
"Say, don't sweat it Charlie. And if you want to thank me and owe me a lot, then I would've use your body as a science experiment!" Mike whispered slyly.
Charlie giggled before he almost slipped off the ladder only to be grabbed by Mike's hand. "Careful there you skinny dweeb. I'm just so worried about you!" The boy soon realized what he mentioned and growled to hinself. He cursed to himself while blushing before he quickly turned from Charlie. Both boys soon made it by the end of the ladder towards the first open doorway that leads towards another room.
"I'm wondering if there could be a trick like most surprises in the factory." Mike whispered.
They both carefully entered the door while expecting any more trouble of the chocolate making factory. They noticed a stairway that leads all the way down. They both hesitate for a short second before they stepped all the way down to the floors of the room as everything seemed dark.
Charlie soon found the light switch and switched it on, causing the lights from the ceiling to switch on power and lightening up the room. The area of the strange room seemed all green with green painted walls along with white spring flowers printed on as wallpaper. While everything seemed to be small and eerily quiet. The boys looked around for another door hoping if there was any exit for them to return to the group, but sadly there aren't any. There's strangely nothing in this room at all, except that there is a glass squared table in the middle of the room. There are no crack or stains on the floor. It was completely smooth clean and also squared like if it's a flat solid waffle.
"Great, we must've entered the wrong room!" Mike sighed.
"Or maybe that was just Mr Wonka was about to tell us before you dropped the walkie talkie." Charlie pointed out. "There was only one ladder from the baking room. But how will we find a way out?"
"How should I know Mr. Philosophical." Mike sarcastically respond.
"Maybe we should check if there are any secrets in the walls of floors. Maybe there must be a secret exit or something." Charlie replied. Being Charlie Bucket himself, he would always be looking up for hope no matter how bleak things are. Unfortunately there was no luck. The boy's search through the entire and there wasn't even the slightest sign of any secret doors. All that is in this room is just a glass table. There was a small green bowl with flowers on them that it's detail looked the same as the wall as it's lid from above was sealed shut.
Worrying if this might be another bad surprise of this factory, Charlie carefully opened the lid only to find a small glowing green apple flavored taffy in a wrapper. This candy seemed to be kinda magical. "Strange." Charlie thought. There was even a stick more on the bottom that says, Eat me!
Mike snickered while he rolled his eyes. "Nice try Mr Wonka, very funny. Like if we're dumb enough to fall for some cheesy Alice in wonderland trick."
"Well, maybe this candy could help us find a way out Mike." Charlie picked up the green glowing taffy.
"I don't think it could Charlie. That Wonka guy might be trying to kill us. What if it's poisoned?" Mike smirked. "You know what happen to Violet when she eat that gum right?"
Charlie soon remembered about the champion girl who was now a blueberry after chewing an incomplete dinner gum. Then again, Mr Wonka didn't do anything to help as he would just dance to the girl's demise music. That is the second time that a kid had to be out of the group. Why can't he just take the gum from her? First the chocolate eater and then the gum chewer! Charlie soon shook his head to wipe out that thought before he turned to the Teavee boy.
"Mike, if we want to get out of here and return to the tour then we must try it. You have be positive about this. Are you with me?" Charlie replied.
"Hell no! I ain't gonna eat it, I hate candy!" Mike yelled. Gosh, is he an anti candy fan?
"Alright, then I'll do it." Charlie then teared off the wrapper to revealed the green taffy as it's glow have sparkled in front of Charlie's face. The boy seem to hesitate at first before he decides to eat it anyway. He soon felt a tenderly touch of Mike's hand on his back before the Bucket kid turned his attention to him.
"If it makes it worth it, then I guess we can try it together. As in we're gonna share it. You're not gonna let you die in this terrible room alone, are you?" Mike asked seemingly embarrassed.
A delightful smile grew on Charlie's as Mike can't help but feel a slight of admiration on the inside for him. The Bucket kid then broke the green taffy into two pieces and have one to Mike. Charlie then shoved the taffy into his mouth and swallows it before he closed his eyes. A green glow soon envelop him before he disappeared, much to Mike's surprise. It is certain that the taffy could be teleporting Charlie to a different realm. The computer genius had no choice but to join the same fate with Charlie as more of their adventure awaits.
To Be Continued!
I bet you're wondering where they could be disappearing off to. I guess will have to find out sooner or later. Anyway I do need some of your help with my new ideas. Just type a review or send a message on my PM. Anyway, I have other work to finish...a lot of work. But I look forward to catch you guys next time, so until then!
