Time flies. Normally it would be like forever to escape from the classroom for Alvin, however today was different. He was actually enjoying the lesson and for heaven's sake, he's Alvin! He should be the arrogant one, the one who only sleeps in class and the one who only tried to find excuses! Enjoying his lessons? Are you kidding me?

The bell soon rang, signifying that school is over. Alvin did not feel overjoyed about school is over, he is actually looking forward to seeing Jeanette actually...

Wait... Looking forward? Jeanette? What's happening? Did he just fall in love with her? No, it can't be, she's timid, I'm self-centered; she's clever and interested in science while I'm stupid and only interested in video games. How can I be in love with her? Its impossible.

The more he thought about it, the more he felt nervous.

Nervous? That's not the typical Alvin right?

He hummed his favourite song to himself to set aside the awkward feeling. As he was about to turn around the last corner, and that was when he heard some insults that was coming from Ryan and his friends.

"Look who it is! The nerd!"

"No wonder she is dumped, she looks so stupid."

"Haha... Simon is much cooler now, not like her, still as clumsy as before..."

The first person that came up in Alvin's mind was Jeanette. Who else would be called a nerd? Usually, he would have snickered with Ryan and his friends over nerds and would have made fun of them, but today was different. He have never felt that angry before. He rushed to the scene and found Jeanette sitting on the floor, with her books spread on the floor. She had tears silently falling from her eyes. They were making her cry!

"Hold it!" Alvin yelled.

"Alvin?" Jeanette looked up with a surprised look.

"Alvin?" Asked Ryan, "What's up man?"

"What's up? What are you doing?" Retorted Alvin.

"Look, she's so clumsy and stupid, who would care about her anyway, Simon dumped her..."

"Stop saying things hurting her, or else..." Alvin paused. He was surprised about his act. He never stood out for a girl before, all he did was laughing at others. For the first time in his life, he was standing out and defending people from insults, err chipmunk. What has love done to him?

Ryan snickered, "Hey hey wait a minute, why are you helping her?"

Alvin frowned, "Isn't that obvious, she's my friend, of course I have to help her."

Ryan was about to open his mouth and say something before Alvin interrupted him, "If you ever say a word about her again I'll punch you."

Ryan was stunned at first and after two seconds he laughed hysterically, "Hahaha, you? Alvin, are you serious? You? Punch? Me?"

Alvin clenched his fist and said darkly, "Try me."

Ryan just ignored him and continued, "A bet you won..."

Before the word "won't" was even pronounced, Alvin jumped up fiercely and punched him in the jaw with all his might. Despite his tiny chipmunk size, he was able to jump up to six feet. Blood was drawn from where Ryan was hit, and he fell to the ground unconscious.

"I told you not to anger me. You deserve this."

Ryan's friends saw what happened. They were frightened and they ran in all directions.

Remembering that Jeanette was there all the time, he turned around and asked Jeanette, "Are you hurt?"

Jeanette blushed and smiled meekly, "No, Alvin. Thank you for saving me, I owe you one."

"Ah, come on! We're friends! You don't owe me."

Jeanette just blinked. This is not the Alvin she knew. The Alvin who grew up with her since childhood, had changed completely. She was shocked, yet she was touched.

"Let me help you with the books," He offered to help and bent down to retrieve her books.

Jeanette remained still and did not move, as she was even shocked now.

"Are you just gonna sit there forever?" Alvin grinned.

Jeanette came back to her senses. She stood up immediately and hugged him which caught him off guard. What surprised him even more was that Jeanette even brought her lips towards his ear and whispered, "Thank you Alvie. Thank you so much." and gave him a kiss on the cheek. After that she just laid her head on his shoulder, with her hands snaked around his neck.

He was shocked about three things. First, she hugged him; second, she kissed him; and more importantly, he called him Alvie. No one would call him Alvie except Brittany, back when she was his girlfriend. He wouldn't expect these actions coming from Jeanette, the one whom he thought was Simon's perfect pair and nothing more than a nerd.

But then Alvin smiled. He didn't see that coming, but that doesn't matter. He only knew one thing.

He is in love with Jeanette, the one he thought was impossible to be with.

He ignored the stares by the crowd and just buried his head into her neck, while wrapping his arms around her back and unexpectedly spilled out, "I love you."

Jeanette smiled with tears of happiness forming in her eyes, "You know what, Alvin? I love you too."

With that they kissed passionately on the lips before they took their things and walked back home paw in paw.

This is the best day in my life! Alvin smiled to himself.
