Looking up at him, his eyes bright eyes bore down on me as a mischievous smirk spread across his face. His hair now looked white in the darkness, stray pieces falling across his forehead. He was much warmer than the chilly night temperature, but the look on his face made me feel ten times colder.
"What... How? You were behind me..." I stuttered, looking towards the road. I had heard the footsteps, and yet he was in the alleyway when I arrived. In this case, looking back would have been the smart thing to do.
"Hmm, so not very smart either. It's a simple charm, I thought you would catch on sooner." He said. The brick wall was cold and rough on my back, digging into my skin as I tried to push myself farther away from him. I wanted to sink into it, for the cool stone to envelope me and pull me in.
"Okay, well, that was a good one!" I laughed, "But I need to be leaving now, it's already very late." I attempted to step to the side, trying to slip away from him. His hands went up around me, caging me in like the bat in my hands. The sudden movement made me drop the cage, and a small flutter came from inside.
"Oh, I don't think so. I have something to say to you first." He said, his face coming in closer to mine. His eyes narrowed as he studied me, and I tried to straighten myself so as not to show my terror. It did not take him long to pick up on this as he let out a small chuckle.
"And what would that be?"
"A warning." He spoke, his voice deep and serious. A sharp stab of fear hit me in the chest, knocking me short of breath. My ears rang loudly, my vision going blurry- did he know? No, that wasn't possible. Only a select handful of those in the ministry knew, and they wouldn't speak a word of it. He couldn't know.
"You seem new around here, so I'll take it easy on you. But speak to me like you did earlier again, and I will make your life a living hell."
Those words made my blood run cold- and instantly hot again. This guy was brash enough to follow and threaten me because I stood up for myself. I didn't doubt that he was dangerous now, not in the slightest- but I had also been through far worse. I was not willing to stand here and take this from him without fighting back.
"Who the fuck do you think you are?" I asked loudly, startling both of us. I took a step forward, pushing my face closer to his. "You think you're some hot shot tough guy who can say and do whatever he wants to people? Do you enjoy threatening and trying to scare people? Because if that's your idea of a good time, I think you need to get some fucking hobbies."
His were scorching into mine as his jaw clenched. His arms came up to my shoulders, his hands resting roughly on my arms. The contrast between the cold brick and his burning hands caught me off guard.
"I would shut that little mouth of yours real soon." He hissed, digging his fingers into my shoulders.
"Or what? You'll make my life a living hell? Trust me, I've been through much worse than the likes of you. Why don't you run along and kick some puppies now." As I said this, I reached down , wrapping my hands around the cool metal of the cage, and darted forward. I shouldered past him, running towards the road. The only spells I could do without my wand were minor ones, and consisted mainly of healing spells. Offensive and defensive spells were far from my current capabilities. Cursing myself for not training harder, I pushed my body faster.
Before I could get far, a body knocked mine to the ground, sending the cage rolling away from me. Malfoy's hands grabbed my shoulders as he pushed me to the ground. With a strong grip he pushed my body over, my back now pushed into the cold stone ground. He looked regal above me, his hair a mess of white like a crown atop his head. I wanted to scream, but the sound became caught in my throat as he glared at me. He lowered his face to my ear, his hot breath sending a shiver down my spine.
"Oh, but right now, you're the puppy I want to kick."
"Why are you doing this?" I asked, my rush of confidence squashed with him looming over me. I had too big of an ego for being as weak as I was. I thought I was a strong person that needed to be held back- clearly, that wasn't the case.
"Because I don't like it when people like you try to undermine me. You see, it needs to be very clear that I am not one to be trifled with." He growled in my ear. He pushed his body flush against mine, his soft hair tickling my cheek as he spoke. "Plus, I have a feeling you'll be very fun to mess with."
He stayed there for a moment, his warm body pressing mine into the ground. When he rose, a shaky breath escaped my lips. The absence of his body heat caused the air to feel even colder, nipping at my exposed skin like a dog at his owner's heels. It shocked me for a moment, the sudden contrast.
Looking up, Draco was standing over me. In that moment, he looked like a King staring down at a peasant.
"Don't worry. I won't ruin your life- unless you give me reason to. But I promise you, I will make sure you don't forget your wrongdoings here." He said, looking down at me. He paused for a moment before turning on his heel and walking to the street. His figure disappeared from my view, leaving completely alone in the silent night. I lay frozen on the ground, finally pulled out of my daze by a small shriek from the cage laying several feet away. His words echoed in my mind, and the cruel look on his face burned into my memory.
A/N- Shorter chapter this time, hope you guys like it! Any feedback would be very much appreciated! Also, random question- do most of you read on here on your phone, or on the computer? Because for me, it's always the phone, and to be completely honest I had never even used it on the computer before so it's slightly confusing to me.
