Me: Hey, guys. Here's chapter three to the Little Merhog. You know, it's National Novel Writing Month this month.
Sonic: Really? Are you writing a novel?
Elise: If so, what is it about? How many words have you gotten so far?
Me: Yes I am writing a novel. In this story, you and Sonic are married but when you two have three kids, danger is lurking a lot. And so far I got over twenty-one thousand words. Anyway, here's the story. Enjoy.
"Is Elise crazy?" Sophia yelled. "She can't marry anyone from the surface! The king will be furious!"
"We can't tell Matt, Elise will be upset," Ana said. "I'm no tattletale, you know? And I'm not starting that today. I'm a good friend to Elise."
"Oh man, this is going to be tough," Sophia mumbled. Then the two girls spotted Elise swimming to the surface. Elise said she was going to see Sonic. But Sophia and Ana stopped her, telling her that the surface world is dangerous and that she might die. Elise said she wasn't going to show herself yet, she was just going up in the surface so Sonic can listen to her voice. So Elise swam to the surface.
Sonic was at the beach with a neutral look on his face, thinking about the girl's voice. Then he began to sing.
"Where did she go?
Where can she be?
When will she come again,
Calling to me?
Calling to me...
Calling to me..."
Then Sonic stood on top of a rock and continued to sing to see if the girl can hear him.
"Somewhere there's a girl,
Who's like the shimmer of the wind upon the water.
Somewhere there's a girl,
Who's like the glimmer of the sunlight on the sea.
Somewhere there's a girl,
Who's like a swell of endless music.
Somewhere she is singing,
And her song is meant for me."
Then behind the rock was Elise and Sonic couldn't see her. She was amazed that Sonic was singing a song about her. Sonic jumped off the rock and continued to sing.
"And her voice,
It's sweet as angels sighing,
And her voice,
It's warm as summer sky.
And that sound,
It haunts my dreams.
And spins me round,
Until it seems,
I'm flying...
Her voice."
Sonic jumped into the water with only his feet touching the water. Elise just stood there, listening to Sonic singing.
"I can sense her laughter,
In the ripple of the waves against the shoreline.
I can see her smiling,
In the moonlight as it settles on the sand.
I can feel her waiting,
Just beyond the pale horizon,
Singing out a melody too lovely to withstand."
Elise was happy to hear Sonic singing such a lovely song about her.
"And her voice,
It's there as dusk is falling.
And her voice,
It's there as dawn steals by.
Pure and bright, its always near.
All day, all night,
And still I hear it calling...
Her voice."
Sonic looked around but he still couldn't see the girl he wants. Sonic sadly sighed and finished the song.
"Strange as a dream...
Real as the sea...
If you can hear me now
Come set me free...
Come set me free!"
Elise felt bad for Sonic as he sat there, feeling lonely. So Elise sang to him to cheer him up.
"If we could stay all day in the sun,
Just you and me,
And I could be,
Part of your world!"
Sonic was amazed to hear the voice of the girl who saved him. He looked around to find her, but she was nowhere to be found. So he jumped onto the roof of the castle but still saw no one. But Sonic had a feeling he will meet the girl who saved him in person. Sonic heard a splash but didn't see anything. When Sonic was gone, Elise came out of the water.
"I will see you face to face, Sonic," Elise said. "Just wait for me. I just hope you are not like the others." So she went back into the sea to go home. What she didn't know was that she was watched by Scourge and Fiona, minions to Rouge the Octobat.
"Now that is what I call touching, huh, Scourge?" Fiona said.
"Got that right, Fiona my dear, a merhog who wants to go to the surface and find her prince," Scourge said. "Oh man, Rouge is going to love this when she hears about it." So he and Fiona went into the sea as well.
Sophia came to Matt, who told her to come to him. He asked if Elise has been acting strange lately and if she's in love. This was making Sophia nervous and scared about this. She never lied to the king, not once in her life.
"Okay, I have a confession," Sophia said. "Elise saved a hedgehog from drowning and now she loves him!"
"She what?" Matt yelled.
"Wait, that's not what I meant," Sophia said. "I meant to say..."
"Take me to her!" Matt yelled. Sophia nodded and led the king to Elise's secret grotto. She knew this will not be pretty with Matt and Elise.
