The Kill

Farewell

Darkness the Hedgehog

I stretch out, yawning wildly, as I sigh, realizing the time. One hour from the time the Games begin.

"Darkness, you lazy bum, come on! It's interview time!" Iceberg growled.

I plop back down on my bed. I'm not ready for torment to begin! God, have mercy on me!

"I'm not getting interview, got a problem with that, Iceberg?"

"Yeah, I do, you hog!"

"Is that anyway to talk to the future Reaper of your life?" I scolded Iceberg.

"Funny, I don't recall any Reapers who eat like pure slobs and fall asleep before nightfall!"

My heart burned of rage, "You're judging how I eat yet you eat like a pure pig? It's not like you've been starving for months trying to feed others!"

Iceberg glared at me one last time and left the room. I pulled the sheets over my eyes and slumbered for a few more minutes until I felt the urge to observe the situation.

"Finally up? Good," Iceberg peered at me, "You overslept. It's time for us to leave the train to go see the Games already."

I was puzzled by how clam Iceberg sounded all of a sudden.

"iceberg? Are you okay?"

"Darkness, I'm really mad right now, but before I blow at the Games..." tears slipped from Iceberg's eyes, "Can I have one last hug from you?"

I gasped, "WHAT?"

"Darkness, I have nothing left! I'm just a madman! Just...please...give me one sign to show me I'm somewhat appreciated!"

I didn't question my enemy. I wrapped my arms around him as I bid him one last farewell.
