Second chapter. Here we have what's going on in Magix Meadows while Griselda is still locked up in Shadowhaunt. Can anyone guess who Ruby's going to be?

A string of loudly shouted gibberish was what woke Bloom up the next morning. The red-headed fairy shot up from her bed, her covers slipping to the floor. "Alfea?" she called out to her guardian and home, and when no twittering answer came from her beloved home, the girl was worried. "Alfea?" she tried again, to no avail. The fairy got to her feet, immediately reaching out for her pixie pet, who flew down and begun to speak in rapid gibberish to her.

Kiko made a series of gestures, wild ones that showed the fairy how worried the small pixie was.

"Kiko?" Bloom yawned, rubbing her eyes. "What's going on? Why isn't Alfea responding to me?" The red-headed fairy unsteadily headed outside, only to gasp in horror.

All the flowers that served as the homes for fairies were wilting. Bloom scrambled out of Alfea, and she put her hands up to her mouth, hiding her gasp. Alfea had turned a sickly green, and its petals were drooping. "Alfea!" Bloom shrieked.

Kiko flew to Bloom's side, pointing wildly and then gesturing even further down the area of Magix Meadows, signifying that the rest of the flowers in the area weren't doing so well either. He babbled something else - something Bloom didn't understand, but it had to be serious. The bunny zipped away, returning in a couple of seconds with a lump of dirt in his paws. He showed it to the fairy, revealing a small seedling, just sprouting from a seed, and already wilting.

"What's going on?" Bloom asked fearfully, taking the seedling from her pet and planting it on the ground. Rather than blooming as it usually would, the seedling wilted further, looking ready to turn into dust. "Kiko?" The fairy looked at her pixie pet, who shook his head. The red-headed fairy gulped nervously, staring up at the sky, which had turned a slight shade of a sickly green. Chewing on her lower lip, Bloom's brow furrowed in confusion as she tried to piece together the puzzle pieces.

"Bloom!" Stella's voice yelled from behind her, prompting the young fairy to turn around. Her blond friend descended from the sky, panting heavily as she landed and instantly wrapping her friend in a hug. "I'm glad you're all right, B," the blonde murmured with a sigh, finally pulling away. Her long hair was matted to her forehead from sweat, and the fair fairy's face was flushed. She clasped her hands together and glanced at Alfea's pitiful state.

"This is serious, B," she spoke, her brown eyes hardening. A frown crossed the usually sunny fairy's face, and Bloom knew that it was something big.

"What's going on, Stel?" she voiced just as the fairy finished speaking. "What's happening to Alfea?" Bloom's voice grew steadily frantic, and she reached out to hold Stella's hand for some assurance.

The sun fairy shook her head. "I'm not sure, Bloom," she stated warily, tightly holding onto Bloom's hand. "But some of the high-flying fairies are having trouble even getting off the ground, and my mother's wings are drooping..." Stella trailed off at the end, looking away from the other fairy, her voice choking up.

Bloom inhaled sharply. Stella's mother, Luna, was a fairy ranked high in the nobility, just below Guardian Griselda, which was a surprisingly high rank to be of, especially in the country-like Magix Meadows. Stella treasured her mother, especially after her father Radius left them. The blonde must be feeling very worried. The red-head reached over and pulled her friend into a tight hug. "She's going to be fine, Stel," Bloom tried to assure her friend. though in all honestly, she had never heard of an illness like the condition that was spreading around, and she seriously wasn't sure if the matriarch was going to be fine or not.

"I-I asked my mother about Darkar, B," Stella suddenly said, sniffling as she pushed herself away. "She said that she didn't know, but when she went to talk to Griselda, the Guardian was gone! Her home was ransacked, Bloom," she said, her brown eyes large with anxiety. "Griselda's a really powerful fairy, and I'm not sure what Magix Meadows is going to do without her, especially not in a situation like this!"

For a minute, Bloom lost her voice, her thoughts going into turmoil. A Guardian was a specially appointed fairy with powers bestowed by the Enchantress herself, and they were known as the supreme power of the area that they guarded over. They also had the power necessary to heal the injured, and without that power, the life in Magix Meadows might as well have been doomed to a slow, suffering, and painful death. "May-maybe we could get another Guardian to help," Bloom shakily offered.

Stella shook her head. "The closest Guardian is Faragonda," she recalled, a frown decorating her face. "And she's far away, in Domino Citadel!"

"Then we need to get to the Citadel! Maybe we could convince her to hel-"

"That's not a good idea, B," Stella said firmly, crossing her arms over her chest.

"But," Bloom muttered. "Magix Meadows is suffering, Stella," she pleaded. "If we leave it as it is, Alfea's going to die!" Even as the wingless fairy spoke, the dual-coloured plant was already wilting even further, the petals slowly drying up. Bloom glanced back at the flower with anxiety in her blue eyes. "Please, Stel."

Stella frowned at Bloom, and she reached out, placing her hands on Bloom's shoulders. Her grip tightened a bit, and the fairy leant it closer to her friend. "Listen to me, Bloom," she stated softly, her brown eyes softening. "Domino Citadel is hours away from Magix Meadows, even if you have wings." After a short pause, she released her hold on Bloom, but she didn't break eye contact, looking straight into Bloom's wide blue eyes. "You've never left the Meadow before, B, and it's dangerous in the Forbidden Forests. You're going to get hurt if you go alone!" she cried out.

Bloom looked mildly discouraged by that, and her shoulders sagged. "I can't fly," she mumbled. "But I can still get there, can't I, Stella?" She looked at her best friend, pleading, begging for the girl to let her go. "I can't fly, sure," she continued hopefully, "but I can walk, can't I? I can get there too! It might take me more time, but I'm sure I can get there eventually!"

Kiko babbled something from behind her, making the red-head look at her pet. "Kiko," she started hopefully. "You'll come with me, right?" The pixie pet said something in gibberish, affirming her words with a large, exaggerated nod. "See, Stel?" Bloom offered, staring back at her best friend. "Kiko agrees with me! I can do it!"

Stella looked conflicted though, and she fidgeted with the ring on her right hand. "I," she mumbled, faltering. "Fine," she replied, looking up at Bloom. "But I'm coming with you. It's not safe in the Forests, and you'll need someone to scout for danger, right?" A small, timid smile curled her lips. "Besides," she continued, her hand on Bloom's shoulder again, lightly squeezing. "I'm your friend, and I'm not going to leave you behind."

Bloom pulled Stella into a hug. "That's the Stella I know!" she cheered with a smile. "I'll go and get what we need from Alfea. We'll set out as soon as we can," she said, determination readable from her entire body.

Short chapters. I can't divert too much from the original movie, sadly. I can't think of other plot points to add to it. Anyway, read and review.
