Chapter 3: Shattered Truth

Took a while because of a block that I was suffering for this story, should be able to put in another lot of chapters.

Ash, Dawn and May had entered a small town that contained the Ruins of Alph, it was there that they were hoping to find out what had happened to Ash, and why he was separated from his other half, Ash looked back to see the two girls following close behind, "come on the sooner I find out how to become one person again, the soon I can get back to my journey," Ash stated energetically, he looked around the dark town with Pikachu on his shoulder looking back at the girls with concern, knowing that Ash was still one half of who he is.

"You know May, Ash seems positive, but when he found out he can only hold three pokemon, I felt like he was just doing this to make me worry less," Dawn remarked silently at her friend.

"Dawn, I can tell that there is something else on your mind, you need to tell him that you love him," May whispered back, making sure that Ash wouldn't hear their conversation. "It doesn't matter if the other half is with a gym leader who is older than him, your happiness is with him right, remember what you told me four months ago?" May asked the bluenette with a determined expression.

"Hey May, Ash is battling," Dawn called to her rival with great enthusiasm; she continued to stare at the TV with her love interest battling with all his might.

May grabbed a seat and noticed how Dawn was remaining seated, her eyes glued on Ash, "Dawn, take a seat, it isn't like Ash is going to pop out of the TV," May called to her best friend.

"Sometimes I wish he would," Dawn replied quietly as she failed to notice the brunette sitting behind her almost falling out of her seat, "there has been so many times that I would wish for him to be right next to me, cheering for me," Dawn commented while looking back to her friend who was smiling proudly at her love.

"You're telling me this now, I thought you have always loved Ash," May commented while Dawn gasped in shock at her best friend, her face turning red from May's comments, "have you ever told him?" May asked Dawn while the battle started to heat up and Ash getting pushed into a corner.

Dawn shook her head in dismay, she felt her hands tremble knowing that for all her confidence, there was no way she could tell Ash how she felt about him, "no, I haven't I was too nervous to tell him," Dawn retorted while thinking back to the time she saw him leaving for home.

"You told me you regretted not saying something as you watched him leave Sinnoh," May pointed out while seeing her best friend nod in shame, "wow, for all your confidence, you sure do get nervous when it comes to Ash," May teased her friend with a cheeky grin.

"You're right," Dawn replied with a heavy sigh.

"Of course I am right, I am going out with Drew after all, so I should know what it's like, heck even I had a crush on Ash for a while," May pointed out while Dawn started to smile, "but you're different, you're in love with him right?" May questioned her rival quietly while Dawn started to blush again from the question.

Dawn nodded and stared into her hands, "you know May, you're right, I do love Ash, so I promise when next I see him, I will tell him," Dawn replied while turning her attention back to the TV set, she watched Ash making his comeback to start his road to victory.

"That a girl," May cheered for her friend.

The two girls watched the trainer battling on TV, his chance of winning increasing as the crowd cheered loudly, "Come on Ash, show them what you're made of," Dawn cheered with May witnessing Dawn's cheering in the background a broad smile on her face.

(Back at the ruins of Alph,)

May grabbed Dawn's arm and pushed her towards Ash, "come on Dawn, time for you to say something to him," May cheered for her best friend.

"May stop it, I don't want to now," Dawn snapped back in anger, "not until Ash is back to normal," Dawn whispered while forcefully trying to stop May from pushing her, but it was no use May was stronger than Dawn and it was easy for her to continue to push her towards Ash, but Dawn was more nimble, she was able to get out of May's way and prevent her from pushing her closer to Ash.

"Dawn, I don't want my best friend regretting, plus I don't want you to lose to that gym leader in Unova," May told her friend while staring at her, "who knows, I might tell Ash I love him," May joked quietly causing Dawn to huff up in anger, she glared at her friend who just started laughing at her, "oh come on Dawn, I was only joking," May waved her hand in front of her face to try and calm the bluenette down.

"Hurry you two, we need to find out what's going on!" Ash yelled at the two girls with a frown.

Dawn and May nodded and rushed towards the trainer, "you know Ash, we can take our time," Dawn stated while rushing to Ash's side.

May stood back not wanting to get in the way, 'oh they look so sweet together, maybe what I can do is, nah,' May thought as she got closer to her friends, a cheeky smile on her face, starting to snicker at her next action.

"May what are you doing?" Ash asked the coordinator in red.

"Oh nothing at all," May lied while Dawn started to exhale lightly at her friends lie, "I was just thinking what a lovely couple you two would make," May stated while pointing at the two people in front of her.

Dawn's face started to turn a bright red as she stood between Ash and May, "May, I told you to keep quiet about that," Dawn complained while waving her hands in front of her face to hide her embarrassment from Ash.

"Come on girls there is no need to fight at the moment, right now we need to get to the end of these ruins," Ash told the two girls calmly, he started to walk towards the furthest end of the cave while hiding his blushing from the girls, 'so Dawn does like me,' Ash thought while smiling softly.

Dawn breathed a sigh of relief and turned her attention to Ash, "May that wasn't nice," Dawn told her rival with disdain.

May smiled broadly and raised her right hand up with a victory sign, "oh come on Dawn, how long do you expect to hide it from Ash, I am willing to bet he is thinking about it now," May chimed while forcing her best friend to turn towards Ash, the two girls walked towards the back of the ruins following Ash all the way.

'I will reveal all soon enough,' A voice echoed in Ash's mind.

Ash looked around and noticed the girls catching up to him, "hey did you two say something to me?" Ash asked the two girls with concern.

"No Ash we didn't," May and Dawn replied quickly.

Ash grew more concerned about the voice, he knew it wasn't the girls but felt that there was a presence that started to grow more intimidating, "there is something here," Ash stated under his breath, he looked around until he spotted a secret passage way, he started to run towards it before looking over his left shoulder, "you two stay here, I am going alone," Ash instructed the two girls as he ran on ahead.

Dawn didn't hesitate, she rushed off towards Ash, to catch up to him while May grinned proudly, 'that's it Dawn go get him,' May thought while sitting back to enjoy her break from the problem.

Dawn continued to run eventually catching up to Ash, "Ash, wait for me!" Dawn yelled out while slowly but surely catching up to him.

Ash stood in the middle of the room he heard the sounds of thunder echoing around him, looking around until he spotted a blast of blue lightning crash in front of him, it was then he heard Dawn entering the room, "Dawn I told you to stay back," Ash hissed but Dawn still continued to approach him.

Ash sighed for a moment as the bolts of lightning started to merge together, "fine, just stay close," Ash whispered while waiting for the bolts to disappear.

"Right Ash," Dawn replied while watching the display of power.

"Alright, what's going on?" Ash asked while the lightning started to disappear.

After asking the question the lightning that illuminated the room vanished, a large black pokemon with piercing red eyes appeared in front of Ash and Dawn, 'my name is Zekrom, I came here to rest after my battle with Reshiram,' the large black dragon replied to Ash's question.

"So in other words you were injured in the battle?" Dawn enquired quietly.

'Yes, but if you want to know something else Reshiram and I split Ash into two people to save his life, but that's only temporary,' Zekrom stated while Ash and Dawn gasped in horror at what was being stated, 'right now, you need to meet with the second part of your being, you will only have a short space of time to do that,' Zekrom stated while turning his attention to Ash.

"What will happen if I don't?" Ash asked the legendary pokemon with a frown.

'You will disappear, but even when you do merge into one person again, your life span will still be drastically shortened, after merging into one person you will need to head to Kalos and meet with Xerneas,' Zekrom stated while Ash and Dawn looked at one another perplexed by the situation that was being presented to them.

Ash looked up to the deep black pokemon and smirked, "so I need to go back to Unova again, become one person then head to another far off region, gee that sounds interesting," Ash said with sarcasm.

'Sorry young man, but we had no choice,' Zekrom replied to Ash's sarcasm.

"Don't worry about it Zekrom, I will find away," Ash smiled at the legendary pokemon.

Dawn placed her hand over her heart and started to shake in fear, "but Ash, what if the road becomes too difficult?" Dawn questioned the trainer with a concerned tone.

"No need to worry Dawn, I will find another road to take no matter what," Ashreplied with great confidence.

"Gees if only you could share some of that confidence with me," Dawn sassily replied, the bluenette turned towards the door and started to smile, "I will be going with you Ash," Dawn stated her intentions and headed towards the door way.

Ash breathed heavily and looked at the ground, "not this time Dawn, I need to deal with this on my own," Ash replied while Zekrom watched the situation unfold.

Dawn swung around and looked into Ash's eyes, "I will be going with you, even if you say no to me," the young coordinator told the trainer with a determined expression.

'Ignore the fact that I am here, by the way, there is a little more I need to tell you before a I go,' Zekrom stated while Ash turned towards the imposing pokemon, 'you and the other Ash are one in the same person, you will need to head to the Giant Chasm,' Zekrom stated the goals to Ash who nodded with a grin.

"Fine the first stop is Castelia City," Ash said calmly.

"And I am going with you Ash," Dawn stomped her foot on Ash's left foot causing him the cry out in pain.

Ash grabbed his foot and jumped around as the pain shot through his body, "alright you can come with me," Ash finally submitted as he put his foot back onto the ground.

Dawn walked up to Ash and placed her right hand on his face, she stared into his brown eyes and smiled, "good, I would hate to lose you Ash," Dawn professed before turning away from him, she walked towards the entrance.

Ash looked around to find the powerful legendary had vanished without a sound, Ash gulped for a moment, he started to laugh at himself, 'gees never knew Dawn would be like that," Ash said as he started to walk towards the entrance of the room.

A few minutes later Ash and Dawn were greeted by May, "so, you two spent some time together, what happened, was it great?" May asked her friends with a cheeky grin.

"We met with Zekrom and found out what needs to be done," Ash replied much to the surprise of the coordinator.

"I am going with him," Dawn told her best friend who nodded in response to Dawn's comment.

May led the two to the front of the Ruins of Alph and looked back, "I will be staying here, I need to wait for Drew and to give him a lecture," May stated while starting to laugh at what she needs to do, "so where will you be heading to?" the brunette asked her friends who were walking side by side.

"Unova," Ash retorted happily.

"We need to get to the airport and then take the next flight to Unova," Dawn said with a smile as she looked over to Ash who was just scratching the back of his head.

"Fine, I will follow you there, maybe that is because Drew has some explaining to do," May chimed with a cheeky grin, "so you will be going together, how about you know?" May asked her friends with a playful tone as the two looked at one another.

"May, please stop forcing it, I don't want Ash to be uncomfortable," Dawn told her friend while trying to avoid eye contact with Ash.

Ash walked ahead of the two girls and looked up to see the sun setting, "you know, I need some time to think alone," Ash said while the two girls stood still for a moment, trying to digest what was happening.

"Ash," Dawn whispered to herself, she watched the trainer heading out to the hill and watched the sky turn to a fiery red colour.

May grew more concerned at what she was witnessing, "you know Dawn, you should go and talk to him," May suggested with a nudge, Dawn finally submitted and started to walk over to Ash, "Dawn, you do need to tell him, I don't want my best friend regretting at saying nothing at all," May instructed her friend, she walked towards a tree and watched her blue haired friend approaching Ash, she proudly watched her best friend getting closer, "that a girl," May softly said as she watched her friend sit next to Ash.

With his hands on the grass resting his head on the ground, Ash smiled for a moment, "hey Dawn," Ash said with his eyes closed.

"You're eyes are closed, how did you know I was here?" Dawn asked Ash softly.

"I knew you couldn't just stand there and wait," Ash retorted softly.

Dawn stared at the horizon and softly smiled at herself, "you know Ash, after hearing what Zekrom said, I feel like I need to be more open about certain things," Dawn told Ash while turning her bright blue eyes towards the trainer.

Ash started to smile and opened his eyes for a moment, and started to see the stars blanketing the night sky, "you're worried aren't you?" Ash questioned the Sinnoh Native.

Dawn gasped for a moment, she knew that Ash's calmness was uncharacteristic, "of course I am worried Ash, I don't want to lose you," Dawn commented while falling back onto the grass, "you know, it has been so long since I have seen you last, so to lose you would be heart breaking for me," Dawn explained with Ash listening to Dawn's words.

Ash looked up to see the moon rising, "you know something Dawn I am pretty scared myself," Ash replied with a grimace, "I was only confident because I thought it would be easy, but I guess we are going to take a long time to get to our real destination," Ash clarified his concerns with Dawn who by then turned towards Ash.

Dawn started to cry a little feeling like she was about to lose someone close to him, "you know Ash, after my first journey it got me thinking a lot," Dawn stated while her memories with Ash in the first journey flooded back into her mind, "I wasn't certain myself, I didn't know all that much, but eventually I began to realise it more," Dawn told the trainer next to her with a gentle smile.

Ash turned his attention to the bluenette who stared into his eyes again for just a moment, "really Dawn?" Ash asked curiously.

Dawn nodded, she took a deep breath and grinned at Ash, "this is most likely my last chance to say this before we go into danger again," Dawn proclaimed with a deep breath she gulped again and smiled broadly, "I wanted to save this before you become one person, but if I don't say it now, I will regret it later on," Dawn stated while keeping May's words mindful as she got ready to make her confession, "Ash I love you," Dawn declared her love to Ash.

"Dawn, I don't know what to say," Ash replied with shock, he looked away trying to hid the shade of red on his face.

Dawn smiled and tuned to her back, she looked up to the stars and tried to come up with something else to say, "it's fine Ash, I just wanted to tell you that's all, I want you to know how I felt about you," Dawn explained to Ash, in that sudden moment a star streaked across the night sky leaving the blue haired coordinator in awe.

"You know Dawn, I am wondering myself, what would the second part of me be like?" Ash questioned the younger woman calmly and with a cheeky grin.

"Well this part of you is warm and caring, I bet the other part of you is a real jerk," Dawn replied laughing at her comments.

Ash and Dawn continued to laugh while thinking about what was going to be their toughest challenge, May sat back and watched her friends having a laugh wondering what the two were laughing at, "those two seem to be really close," May commented softly as she looked at her ribbons from the contest, wondering what the other part of Ash would be like.

(The next day)

After the night camping under the stars Ash, Dawn and May had made it to the Airport just outside Goldenrod City, May walked up to her friends and smiled softly again, "alright you two love birds, this is where we part ways," May told her friends while looking down to see them holding hands for the first time, "now no crazy stuff, Ash please be careful, I would hate for my best friend to be in tears," May stated while winking at Ash who started to grow a little nervous.

"I will be fine May, I promise I will not be hurting Dawn," Ash promised May who nodded with great joy.

The two walked into the aircraft and looked back to see May waving to them, "no need to worry May," Dawn's voice echoed through the halls.

The door closed behind them allowing them to walk into the seating area, "now let's get our seats," Ash told the bluenette quietly, the two walked towards their seats and sat down, they looked around to find that there weren't many people in the craft, but that didn't bother them too much, "you know Dawn, after last night I feel more at ease," Ash commented while Dawn scratched the back of her head and put a broad grin on her face.

"Oh it was nothing Ash, just had to say something," Dawn replied with a blush creeping across her face, she looked down at Ash's right hand and slowly moved her left hand over his, the two looked at one another and nodded with great joy. The aircraft started to taxi down the take-off lane ready to take off to the region where Ash needed to be.

"The flight to Castelia City is about to take off please watch the attendants and please take care," the pilot stated while preparing the plane for take-off.

"Oh great this boring garbage again," Ash hissed while closing his eyes and taking it easy.

Dawn noticed this and frowned at the trainer, "another thing I have noticed this Ash is far too easy going than the other Ash," Dawn alleged as she sat back and watched the attendants showing the passengers what they needed to do in an emergency. "he slept through all of that," Dawn said with a frown, but it sort of didn't bother her, she knew that Ash had travelled enough to remember the procedure if the needed was ever there, she felt safe around Ash, so if anything were to go wrong she knew that she could rely on the trainer to keep her safe.

"Nothing to worry about Dawn, I won't let anything happen to you," Ash promised the young lady, Dawn turned to see Ash sleeping she shook her head with disdain.

"I thought you said something while awake and yet you're asleep," Dawn complained, she rested her head back on the head rest and started to go to sleep, the plane picked up speed and took off from the airport, leaving the Johto region behind, Ash left almost as quickly as he had arrived but now he was leaving with someone precious to him.

May looked out the window to see one plane taking off and another landing, she watched the plane that was leaving with great intent, "good luck Ash and Dawn," May whispered while seeing the other aircraft, thinking about her friends and what they had to face, "I know what Dawn said last night was going to be tough on her but knew it would be for the best.

After a short time a green haired coordinator appeared from one of the jets, "May, hey it's good to see you again," Drew called out to his girlfriend.

May walked up to Drew and placed her hands on her hips, "you're lucky you arrived, because if you didn't I would have travelled all the way to Unova to drag you back to Hoenn, oh and I would have given Ash a nice big kiss in front of you," May told Drew who started to chuckle at the brunette's fury.

"Sorry May, I was trying to help Ash out, plus he seems to have a new girlfriend too," Drew replied with a proud smile as he remembered the time Ash and Skyla spent together.

"Yeah Ash and Dawn make a great couple, they even sealed it with a big kiss last night," May said with a soft tone, but soon noticed the expression change on Drew, "wait what happened?" May asked with a more serious tone.

"Yeah Ash and that gym leader in Mistralton City are going on a date as we speak," Drew replied with great pride, "yep I set it all up for them," Drew stated with great pride before he felt May's right hand come into contact with his face, "hey what was that for?" Drew asked while placing his hand on the area that was burning from May's slap, 'man she has gotten stronger.'

"You bastard, you knew that Dawn will always love Ash, that's it you will fix this or we are over!" May yelled in response as the people in the airport watched the couple having an argument about their best friends.

"But May, what I am supposed to do about it?" Drew asked in protest.

May started to crack her knuckles leaving Drew nervous, "we are going to Kalos, you will fix this situation that you put our friend in, that or you will feel my wrath," May retorted with a grin.

"Alright, I will fix this," Drew promised while starting to cower in fear, 'shit, why did I open my big mouth in Unova?' Drew asked himself while seeing a more gentle side of May who was pleased with his response.

"Good because if my best friend gets hurt, I will throw you off a cliff and into the ocean, hoping that every bone in your body breaks on impact," May commented gently as Drew grew more nervous at everything that was going on, "because for the first time in over a year Dawn was truly happy and I would hate to see her lose that happiness." May defended her best friend.

"Fine I get the hint," Drew submitted while getting ready to get the next plane ticket to the Kalos region.

Oh dear I guess Drew screwed up in the Unova region, but with the next stage of the journey starting to take place and the prelude coming to an end, how will May and Drew fix the situation that Ash is in.

Next up chapter 4: Truth and Ideals collide.

This is just a prelude story for the main story, preludes should be short so the next chapter will be the last until we get to the main story which will need a name, the next part will have one true ending as well as two other endings.

So I will leave that part to you guys what style of ending would you like to see, remember there is the second version as well, that version is Ash X Skyla. Same for this story. Then there is a name, please leave a review or PM me with some ideas you would like to seem.
