Dororo and Keroro stood in front of a giant catapult Keroro had bought from a shady traveling salesman; staring up at its great height. The massive catapult had crude, handpainted gundums covering it, sealing the deal for the impulsive green
Giroro was out of town, so Dororo was stuck being dragged around alone with him, and that included being the audience for Keroro's latest toy."Behold! My gundum...pult 3000! Guaranteed to relieve any pent up aggression!" Keroro grinned.
"Um… Keroro-kun? Why did you buy this?" Dororo questioned, and Keroro turned to him, surprised he would even ask, "Gero? Why…?" He grinned and pointed to the painted Gundams, "How could I NOT buy it? Every proper Gundum collector has to have one!"
"Well, If you say so, Keroro-kun…" Dororo hesitantly responded, afraid to tell his friend it wasn't original to the collection for fear of upsetting him.
Keroro folded his arms and stared up at the top, "I can't really see all the way up there... Hey, Dororo, could you climb onto it to make sure it's in proper condition?"
"I...suppose I could" Dororo said, and slowly walked up to the massive machine. /This is going to end badly.../ He silently worried. He gulped, thought about his life with no friends, and climbed up.
The television that Keroro had left on in the base started blasting an add for a limited time tv only gundum style something or other.
The little obsessed one turned and rushed into the house to order the gundums, before they sold out. However, unfortunately, he tripped and stumbled over the cord that kept the catapult from launching.
Without skipping a beat, He continued on into the house without noticing that he had set off the catapult which launched Dororo high into the air.
Dororo flew across the town and crash landed in a forest, hitting just about every branch possible on his way down. There was a loud crack when he hit the ground and pain seared through him His breath left his body in a woosh, and he struggled to regain his bearings. He hardly had the strength to move, and his eyes drifted shut.
After some time, a plop of water fell onto his face and awakened him. He was shivering. Clouds had rolled in, and were about to open up.
Dororo slowly looked around to see if anyone was nearby to help him. He saw that he had landed in front of what looked like a little cabin. He mustered all of his strength to enter the shed for shelter from the brewing storm.
The door slammed shut behind him as he collapsed to the floor, unconscious once again.
Ionana hurried to the clubhouse, keeping a watchful eye on the dark clouds. "I just had to leave the widows open! Now I gotta close them before all our stuff gets soaked!"
She broke into a run, nearly slipping on a muddy hill as she neared the clubhouse. She opened the door... well, she turned the handle and the wind blew it open, and she rushed inside. She braced her body against the door and struggled to close it, finally setting the latch and sighing in relief.
Ionana turned towards the windows on the far wall and tripped over something on the ground.
"Ouch. What the heck, Aldidi?" She grumbled, assuming that her friend had left something on the floor. When she got up and turned around however, she saw a blue tadpole about her age lying motionless in the middle of the clubhouse. She lept back a few feet in shock before slowly approaching. "Hey...Are...you okay?" She questioned. There was no response. She crept a bit close and examined him carefully. He was breathing.
"Oh thank frog… For a minute there, I thought he was dead…" Ionana sighed in relief. She quickly inflated one of the air mattresses she and Aldidi kept for when they wanted to hold sleepovers in the clubhouse, before covering it with blankets. She carefully lifted the tadpole and placed him on the bed. She shut the windows to keep out the rain and draft, then started tending to her "guest".
It soon became dark as the storm raged on. The only source of light was a candle Ionana had lit, but the battle it fought against the clouds looming over the area was a loosing one. She dressed the tadpole's injuries as best she could, given what she had, but she soon realized that it was not going to be enough.
Dororo finally awoke and tried to look around, but the pain from his injuries hindered him.
"Hey, stay still!" commanded a nearby voice
"Who… are… you…?" Dororo weakly asked.
"That doesn't matter right now." the voice continued, "Go back to sleep. You need to rest."
Dororo strained to see the face of the voice tending to him, but there wasn't enough light to see her. All he could see was purple hands as they adjusted his bandages. He was quite tired, however, and he decided to oblige the good suggestion the voice had made, and he slipped back into the bliss of sleep.
Ionana sighed in relief as he drifted back off. /Better for him./ As the night wore on, he started to grow more restless. Ionana noticed that he was running a fever. He had a large gash from where he had hit a tree It was very swollen, and was starting to turn a mottled yellowish-green color.
"I have to get him to a doctor…He won't be able to recover here if he broke something." She murmered, before looking out at the storm. It had just started to lull, and Ionana decided to take a chance in the less heavy rain, hoping that it lasted just long enough for her to get to someone who could help.
She pulled on a cloak, hoisted Dororo onto her back and secured him with a cord harness. She pulled a poncho over the blue Keronian and ventured out into the night. She started heading in the direction of the closest road. The storm had made the ground that she had slipped on before even more muddy, and as she crossed the patch, her foot slid out from under her.
Ionana tried to catch herself, but the branch she grabbed gave way, and she found herself slipping down a big hill. As luck would have it, she passed near a giant tree, reaching out and snatching it just as they slid past. The pair jerked to a stop and Ionana flinched as the wood donated some bark to her hands. She tried to clamber back to the top of the hill, but couldn't make it more than a step or two up the incline.
She paused and looked around. Just a little ways down the hill was another big tree that looked like it could support them. She braced herself against her current tree, and pushed off, angling herself in the direction of the big tree. She latched on again, relieved, and repeated this process down the entire hill.
Just as she reached the bottom, a car passed by. Ionana waved her arms and the Keronians quickly stopped and got out. They helped Ionana and Dororo into the car and rushed them to the hospital. Dororo stayed latched onto Ionana until the doctors pulled him off to treat him. "Thank you..." He murmured quietly. Ionana shrugged, "Heh...no problem... Get better soon..." She said, before she was led off to the non-emergency clinic to tend to the gashes on her hands.
