Recap of the last chapter
Morgan and his friends were finally embarking upon seeing the new How To Train Your Dragon film, after waiting years for it. It was established that it's Morgan's goal to return to the How To Train Your Dragon world, but in the midst of that, it was also established that he's got a huge apprehension for the future; growing up into adulthood, at 19 years old, and then having to go through the stresses of life like paying taxes, and generally keeping on top of the financial situations that'll face him. This apprehension was apart of a wider motivation of the 19 year old to return to the How To Train Your Dragon world. Upon watching the new film in the cinema with his friends, his motivation took on a much more vindictive ground, especially when it came to seeing the Light Fury on the big screen throughout the film.
CHAPTER 3: One last try
"I'll see you later then, it was nice catching up with you both!" Joshua said, just as he was about to walk back home.
"Yeah, you too, I'll see you later!" Morgan said, nodding at Joshua.
"Yeah, I'm gonna go home now as well. Just before I go though, do you know if they're gonna make a fourth How To Train Your Dragon film?" Scott asked, asking the question due to acknowledging Morgan's passion for the whole series.
"Nah, I mean, I hope they don't to be honest, things have been set just...you know, plot-wise, perfectly and all that...nobody died, I want it to stay that way..." Morgan said.
"Fair enough then...I'm glad we've managed to speak again after a while though Morgan, see you later mate!" Scott said.
"See you later!" Morgan replied, waving.
Morgan was waiting near the cinema car park for his mum to pick him up, as the night was starting to fall alongside the winter cold, over the sky. He just had a damning realisation; tomorrow, it was another college day. You know what that meant? it meant having to get up at around 6:30 in the morning, whilst it's all pitch black outside, being the moodiest and tiredest person on the planet. Morgan simply wanted to re-do what he did in 2017; go to sleep, and then wake up in the How To Train Your Dragon world. He wanted to escape the future of having to deal with money, and finances in general; he was a young adult, but he was a young adult who didn't want to age at all; why can't life just be like how it was when he was a toddler?
Morgan simply sighed in the cold air, as the nearby restaurants still emitted their vibrant lights from the windows. There was a pub just within the town near the cinema, and Morgan could hear a bunch of grown men yelling out into the open, which confirmed to him that they were in a drunken state. If there was one thing Morgan was grateful of, it was that he wasn't living around this area. It just doesn't have a good reputation, to say the least.
Morgan was getting those vibes again, however, and it encouraged him to walk towards the edges of these platform walks near the cinema, to look out at the beach whilst the darkness was falling. He could just imagine those oceans ahead of the beach being those of Berk...as if he was back in the How To Train Your Dragon world. Actually feeling that way, Morgan's heart had briefly undergone an aching sensation, where he genuinely felt like for a moment he was back there, but he wasn't. The real world was a depressing place, given what had just happened; Morgan looked out to the oceans ahead of this beach, which reminded him of Berk's oceans from his time in the HTTYD world, but the reality of being in the 'real world' had killed those feelings.
He held onto the metal barriers that prevented people from falling down these platforms to the ground below, once again looking out to the dark ocean as the scent of seaweed moved into his nose again. He was just thinking about that time with Toothless, just remembering every bit of it, and it made him chuckle for a brief moment. He was starting to develop an internal excitement for returning to the HTTYD world, and he was imagining the various scenarios that could happen in the event he does. He still has a grand plan in mind if he does return; find Toothless, which also means finding the Light Fury, except with her, Morgan's going to be as vindictive as possible. He felt like he needed to find Toothless for a personal reason, and that reason had to do with what happened in the first time.
But would any of the vikings remember Morgan from his first time? it was doubtful, considering the film just now had shown (at the ending) that a certain amount of years had passed, meaning that the vikings are likely to have forgotten that memory of Morgan himself. But one thing that gave Morgan hope was this; Toothless, at the ending, didn't even recognise HICCUP when the viking was on a boat with Astrid and Hiccup's own kids, rowing towards The Hidden World to reunite with the dragon. It was only when Toothless got a scent of Hiccup that he recognised Hiccup, so here's the deal; if Toothless can do that to Hiccup, who he hadn't seen for years, he surely can do that to Morgan himself?
It was all confusing and uncertain. But all of these ambitious thoughts came to an abrupt end when Morgan heard a distinct horn roaring off like an echo from the car-park; it was his mum, who had finally arrived in the car to pick Morgan up. The 19 year old was happy that he didn't have to walk all the way back home, but he was just getting into the midst of those thoughts, so that beeping of the horn was pretty unwelcoming for him.
Morgan walked towards the car, smiling at his mum in the driver's seat. He opened the door, sounding all sigh-like and grumpy. Clearly, the smile he just gave didn't mean much.
"So, how was it?" his mum asked, as Morgan got his seat belt on.
His mum made a turn for the car park exit, as she started talking to Morgan.
"It was good, yeah, very good..." Morgan said, with the thought of college causing him to sound grumpy and deep in his voice.
"What's the matter, Morgan? did something happen? are you tired or something?"
"No, it's just..." Morgan had stopped himself; he wanted to try and ask his mum for a day-off from college tomorrow, but he was reluctant to do so, because there's absolutely no chance she'll let him stay off.
"It's just what?"
"Well, I had a good time with my friends like, but it's just the thought of college that's making me feel all grumpy and that..." Morgan revealed.
"Oh Morgan, what a dramatic thing to say. You haven't even been in college for that long, you'll like it soon..." his mum insisted, as she stopped at a traffic light.
"No mum, you say that every time, and I have to tell you every time that I'll never enjoy it...it...it feels like the hell of the planet, you know?"
"If you pass the course, though, it'll open up so many doors for your future, you'll like it eventually, Morgan..."
"Can I please just have a day off tomorrow, mum? I'll just phone up the college in the morning to tell them that I'm ill?" Morgan asked.
He was reluctant in asking it before, but only because he didn't want to be tedious to his mum; he was highly respectful, but again, something had to give when it came to the college issue.
"Absolutely no chance, Morgan. Come on, just keep giving it a try, you'll like it soon enough?" his mum insisted.
"Why, mum? how many times are you going to say that? if it's supposedly good and enjoyable, then why am I still hating it?" Morgan asked, placing his hand near the front door window of the car to hold his head up from his chin.
"We'll talk about it when we get inside, alright? maybe when you move onto the different...tasks, you'll like it?" his mum said.
Morgan agreed with her only on that first bit, and he wanted to leave the discussion at that, but he still didn't manage to convince her to give himself a day off. He was dreading the prospect of having to wake up early tomorrow just for the sake of attending something he despises with all his heart.
"So how was the movie?" his mum asked, moving on from the discussion of college.
"Yeah, it was good, but I just..." Morgan sighed and ended his talk right there; the fact he's not being given a day off had caused him to lose his interest in talking.
"Again, we'll talk about it when we get home?"
"Yeah..." Morgan said.
God, how he wished he could be in the How To Train Your Dragon world right now. He was already starting to feel stressed out from just the thought of college.
Morgan couldn't wait any longer. He simply couldn't hold it in any longer; he wanted to go back to the HTTYD world, and he wanted to go back TONIGHT, so here was his plan' he'll pack up a bag of things like food and so on from the fridge, so in the event he wakes up back on Berk, he'll have a bag to take with him on whatever journey becomes ahead of him.
He was confident of doing this; after all, on the night of the 16th of April, 2017, he woke up on Berk, so he can do it again, right? especially now that he's watched the third How To Train Your Dragon film? he wasn't just confident of doing it again, he was determined to do it, because the thought of having to wake up tomorrow morning for college college gave him a horrific mindset. It was terrible; you're in a deep, comfy sleep, when suddenly, all the lights are on, killing off the pitch black darkness, being forced to wake up for something you're too tired to do.
It was now 23:00 at night, and with everyone in the house asleep, and Morgan acknowledged this, nobody will know that he's gone; after all, the last time he woke up in the HTTYD world and returned, it turned out that only a single night had passed in 'our world' whereas in the HTTYD world, Morgan spent three months there. His family weren't going to suffer with a disappearance of his as a result.
He was at his bed, but he was still in his clothes; in his room was the bag filled with food on the floor, and he looked like somebody who was about to venture off into the wild, with his casual clothing from the cinema still being on. Yes, he was going to sleep in his CLOTHES in the preparation of waking up in the HTTYD world.
Most importantly of all, Morgan had his good old Samsung Galaxy S5 in his shorts pocket; the last time he was in the HTTYD world, it ran out of charge, but this time around, Morgan had been charging it up from the moment he got back home from the cinema, so now, it was at 100%, and ready to last for hopefully a long time.
He still knew that he could very well fail in this attempt; he did it in about October-ish last year after watching the second Hidden World trailer, and it failed. The difference between then and now is that now, Morgan's watched the Hidden World film, meaning his chances of returning to the HTTYD world are at a much higher rate. The question was, though, if that was actually true.
"Wow..." Morgan said, actually feeling quite nervous at the prospect of returning to his favourite 'fictional' world.
The atmosphere was perfect for Morgan to go to sleep; the entire house was asleep, it was pitch black outside, and Morgan had his phone, bag of food, and clothes ready to go. He took off his red trainers, and climbed into bed with his khaki shorts on and his pink button-down top; he was always one for a vibrant set of clothes, and pink was amongst his favourite. Getting comfy amongst the thick covers of his bed, Morgan started feeling the vibes of a child on Christmas eve; he simply couldn't sleep due to the excitement of potentially waking back up at the HTTYD world.
But finally, it happened; Morgan was fast asleep, with his bag besides his bed, as were his shoes, and his clothes on him still; will he have woken up in the HTTYD world by the morning?
The second Morgan felt himself feel awake with his closed eyes was nerve-wracking; he could still feel something wrapped over his body, but he fully acknowledged that he had just woken up from a deep sleep. He was too nervous to open his eyes, so he used the old tactic of hearing and feeling things to determine if he's back at Berk, or if he's still in the 'real world' at home, in his bed.
The second Morgan's touch senses felt the covers, and the heavy mattress underneath the lad, he felt saddened and angry internally, but that was just the start of it. Suddenly, his bedroom door opened, and the light switch was flicked on; it was his mum, waking him up, and Morgan had yet to even open his eyes still.
"MORGAN? COME ON, WAKE UP! COLLEGE THIS MORNING!" his mum yelled, giving Morgan the full confirmation; his attempt at repeating what he did nearly two years, when he woke up in the HTTYD world, had failed.
"Oh shut up, for fuck sakes..." Morgan whispered, as his mum walked out from the room, leaving the light and bedroom door open to help Morgan himself wake up.
The lad opened his eyes, as they ached with complete tiredness and a dusty vision; the very same pale, yet somewhat bumpy roof of his bedroom had only encouraged his anger. He wanted to stay in bed, uninterrupted, and so, he turned around to his sides in his bed, and wanted to sleep. Not only did he feel depressed and angry, and as if he was about to cry because of his failure at trying to wake up in the HTTYD world, but his mum came back into the room to call for Morgan himself a second time.
"COME ON MORGAN, GET- what's that bag doing there, and what're your shoes doing there?" his mum asked, moving inwards to the room, looking at the bag of food and Morgan's trainers he had left here last night.
At this point, Morgan had no choice but to sit up from his bed; rubbing his eyes, he felt like crying, but he also wanted to punch his cupboard; he was still in this depressingly stressful world where nobody can get a break, and worst of all, college was starting at 9:30 this morning, up until 16:50, so it was going to be a long day. As Morgan sat up, angrily internally and sad, he started explaining his reasoning for having the bag up.
"I thought I'd...pack up, whatever, I don't care, can you just leave me alone to get up myself?" Morgan said, angrily, because of his tiredness and absolute anger at his failure.
"It's got food in it...and why did you take your shoes up?" his mum asked.
"Look mum, just get out and I'll deal with it myself..." Morgan said, unveiling his covers to reveal his clothes were still on to his mum; now this time, she was not only angry at Morgan for telling her to 'shut up', she was also dumbfounded as to why he would sleep in his clothes.
"Talk to me like that again, and you'll be out of this house faster than you can realise...and why are you sleeping in your clothes?"
Morgan had completely forgotten about his clothes, honestly.
"I'll explain it later...just go away, will you?" Morgan said, in his tired, weak voice, as his eyes were still hurting, as was his throat from obtaining a dry one from such a deep and comfy sleep.
"DON'T PUSH ME MORGAN, I mean it, just try me, go on, try me...get up now and get a shower, try and get the bus earlier, and also, sort your attitude out, because if you don't, you can move out...you know, I'm always nice to you, and that's how you repay me? get up, now..." his mum angrily insisted, walking out of the bedroom to go downstairs, so she could make breakfast for Morgan's younger brother and sister.
The second his mum went down the stairs, Morgan simply collapsed back down to his back on his bed, wanting to go back to sleep; he placed his two hands over his eyes, trying to get rid of his tears.
"Fuck sake...I wanna fucking hit something..." he said, lying on his back in his bed, feeling like he had a fire inside him that needed to be released; he was too angry to face getting up and out of bed at this moment in time.
He grabbed his phone from his pocket, whilst in bed, wanting to text his mum; given the attitude he's just given her, there's no way she'll give him a 'yes', but Morgan, in his tired and sad/angry state, couldn't think straight about it.
Please let me stay off, mum, just for today? was his text that he had sent. A few seconds later, his phone had vibrated, and he saw her response.
Get up now, you're not missing college for nothing...you've got half an hour to get up... was her response.
"Screw this shit, man..." Morgan said, dropping his phone flat onto his chest after failing to convince his mum via text to let him off college.
Not only was he tired, he was devastated and sad with hidden tears that he didn't end up in the HTTYD world, like he managed to do nearly two years ago. As far as Morgan was concerned, that was his last attempt at trying to wake back up there. He's going to have to face the depressing prospect of getting up, pitch black in the morning, to get ready for college; no longer will he attempt to return to the HTTYD world after this disastrous failure of an attempt at doing so. Perhaps, after all, he'll never get to go there ever again, and that one time nearly two years ago was a one off thing.
Morgan tried, and he failed; just so you're aware, on the 16th of April 2017, nearly two years ago, Morgan went for a deep sleep, and then the next morning, he was not in his house, but instead, randomly, awake within Berk's cove. How that happened had always remained a mystery to him, but fast forward to now, where the 19 year old wanted to repeat that occurrence, Morgan was at a debacle. The 'real world' ultimately got in the way of his attempt at trying to wake up in the HTTYD world again, and now, in his tired state, he's damaged his reputation to his mum, who's made her stance on his hatred of college perfectly clear; if he quits it, he isn't staying at the house for nothing. If this was truly Morgan's last attempt at trying to return to the HTTYD world, in order to be within his favourite 'fictional' world again, but this time, for personal reasons, then what'll happen next if he's stuck in this purgatory of a current lifestyle, with his apprehensions on the future at an all time high?
