I finally went back home, but it was late. A lot later than I should have been, cause the streetlights were on and night had all ready overtaken day, so I was later than I should have stayed out, but in my defense I taught a quick sword fighting class (Clarisse was busy with something for Chiron and asked for me to step in)

I opened the front door and walked in.

Instantly, I felt something was wrong. For one, my mom didn't yell hello when I came in the door. 2, I didn't smell anything cooking and it was right around dinner time( my mom loves to cook so she does it everyday) 3rd, my demigod senses were tingling

Okay so the last one was a lie, but my skin was crawling.

Without thinking, I pulled my lethal ballpoint pen from my pocket and kept my finger on the cap.

"Percyyyyyyy..." A deep voice said.

"Who's there?" I demanded.

"Perseus."

Only a select few people called me by my full name, most of them were enemies.

I uncapped my pen but nothing happened.

It was a typical pen... "Vlacas."

I threw the useless pen away and dug in my pocket, searching for Anuklosmos.

I pulled another pen and it was also a useless non lethal pen.

"Where's my pen?" I muttered.

"Looking for this, Percy?" A cold voice. In front of me appeared a dead someone. He was holding up a pen in his hand.

I doubled back into the front door,

"Luke..? But how?" I asked, completely shocked. I kept pulling pen after pen out of my pocket, none of them were Riptide.

Luke gave me a cold smile.

"..." He mumbled.

I couldn't understand him, so since I am the master of comebacks I replied with:

"Uh... what?"

"... will rise again." Luke said, pulling the cap of his pen off, revealing the pen in his hand to be Riptide.... my Riptide.

"Ha!" Luke said, raising his sword in a wide arc.

Like an idiot, I kept searching for my pen in my pocket, as if Luke's sword was a fake...

He slashed downward.

...

...

...

I woke up drenched in sweat.

"You still drool in your sleep." Annabeth said.

I rubbed my eyes and saw that she was sitting on the bed I was laying in.

"What... what happened?" I asked, trying to get up.

"Woah there Seaweed Brain." She said, lightly pushing my chest down. "Take it easy, you're all right."

I let her push me down.

"Where am I?" I asked, rubbing my eyes again.

"You're house. We took you here after you collapsed." Annabeth explained.

"When did I collapse?" I asked, scratching the back of my head.

"Right after sword fighting." Annabeth said, eyeing me suspiciously. "You muttered something to me and the next thing I knew you were collapsed outside the Hermes cabin."

"The Hermes cabin?"

"Yeah... we had to pass there to get to your cabin. You said something about sending a message...?" Annabeth asked.

"I don't remember." I said, rubbing my eyes again and getting up more slowly this time.

"What do you remember?" She asked.

"I was walking... into my apartment. " I recalled. "ummm... I heard a voice... it said Percy... I felt like something was wrong. So I got my pen out of my pocket..." I tried to concentrate on what happened next. " Then when I uncapped it... it... it didn't..."

"It didn't what?" Annabeth asked, putting her hand on mine. "It didn't become Riptide?" She guessed.

"Yeah... then I tried again with another pen... and another... and another... and none of the pens worked..." I could barely remember what happened next...

"And then?" Annabeth asked, giving my hand a light squeeze.

I remembered a face... but I wasn't sure who it was... I was almost positive it was Luke's, but he was dead...

"I can't remember." I lied.

Annabeth wasn't fooled.

"Well when you do, you better tell me." Annabeth said.

"Okay.." I said, not wanting to meet her eyes.

"Promise?" Annabeth asked.

Like a lightning bolt the memory hit me. Luke raising Riptide, swinging it at me.

"Percy?" Annabeth asked, noticing my hesitation.

"What?" I asked.

"How long is it gonna take for you to realize you can't lie to me?" Annabeth demanded.

"It was Luke." I said, looking into her piercing gray eyes. "He had Riptide, and then he muttered something I couldn't understand... I only caught the last half of it... 'will rise again'" I told her, this time gripping her hand instead of the reverse.

"Oh..." Annabeth said. "What happened next?"

"Was this real? Or was it a dream...?" I asked, trying to get her mind off it.

"I've been with you since you got here, and I was with you everyday this week... and most of the weeks before that. So I don't see how Luke could have appeared to you and you not mention it to Chiron or me before... It was probably a dream." Annabeth said, but she couldn't be sure.

"I'm sure its fine." I said.

Annabeth looked at me and her expression softened. "Fine? Us? Come on Seaweed brain... we're not one of those couples. I'm not gonna fall into your arms and let you tell me its gonna be all right when you know its not." She smiled at me.

I couuldn't resist the opportunity at the cliche.

"You sure you don't want to try?" I asked, holding out my arms for her.

She giggled( well Annabeth doesn't really giggle, more like a menacing laugh thats supposed to be friendly) and turned her body around to put her head in my chest.

I wrapped my arms around her and let us fall slowly back onto the bed.

"Its gonna be fine." I said chuckling.

She smiled up at me and put her arms around my waist.
