Oh my God! It's finally done! (T_T) You don't know how many times i got stuck and how many times my Laptop gave out on me! I thought the world didn't want me to finish this! Well too bad world! cause i did HaHaHaHaHahA!
(Although i gave up on the idea of adding a duel here...) Damn you world problems
On another note, i discovered many things during the times i didn't get to laptop. Things like VOCALOID, humans that sing vocaloid songs, and humans that sings English covers of vocaloid songs. Also other stuff, but i don't want to spam this chapter too much.
I'm gonna rewrite the previous chapters a bit, so stayed tuned!
To Tina: Well as you see, neither this author nor this story is dead, so no one's adopting my baby
A big thank you for Twilight fairy for telling me the mistakes in the previous chapters, i'm have a minor case of Dyslexia, so i couldn't comprehend the difference between 'Johan' from 'Jonah' in terms of writing. But since it's only minor, i realized it eventually.
Disclaimer:Don't own any of them except my much needed OC characters.
Rebirth to Destiny
Chapter two: Fated Meetings
"Why must you cradle rusted chains? Aren't the new ones you added well enough? "
Jaden Yuki. Male, age 6, reincarnation of both Judai Yuki and the Supreme King…was running for his dear life
And why, you ask?
Is it because he was being chased by a stampede of Duel monsters like his previous incarnation? Nope
Is it because of a rabid dog that was chasing him? Defiantly not
Is it because of a very angry mother? That nailed it
"Jaden Yuki!" Jaden flinched at the volume his mother reached "When I get my hands on you, you'll regret ever being a naughty boy for the rest of your life!" Jaden paled as he ran to another street once more, not caring who he was bumping into. The day started out pretty normal at first, his dad was in another town doing work while his mom and he went out to buy groceries like they do every week, with Jaden looking through card packs while his mom did the actual shopping. It was a normal Sunday...until this big bully came up to Jaden while is mom was getting groceries from the vegetable stand and took the card pack Jaden just bought.
"Hey! That's mine!" Jaden yelled as he tried to reach for the card pack, the only problem was that the bully was much taller than him. "Liar! It's mine!" The kid sneered, sticking out his tongue at Jaden "Finder's keepers, Losers weepers!" Jaden growled at the sight of the bully's grubby fist clenching on the card pack tightly, hurting the cards inside.
"You big meanie!" In an act of pure childish irritableness and a cute sense of justice towards the mistreated cards, Jaden grabbed the nearest thing he could find and shoved it right into the boy's smug throat.
"Mph!" The boy choked for a second before spitting the choke hazard on the floor, what Jaden gabbed was a small eggplant that was sitting innocently on the vegetable stand "Idiot! You could have killed me! Weirdo!" The boy glared at Jaden "At least I'm not a thief and a card killer! Now give them back!" using the boy's shock as an advantage, Jaden snatched the card pack from the child's grubby hands and sped of "Why you…!" The kid hollered as he ran after Jaden.
The sequence of events that happened afterwards was too fast to describe…
"When I get my hands on you…!"
"Hey kid! Watch where you're going!"
"OUCH! What the-,"
"Ah! My stand!"
"WAH!?"
"SORRY!"
"Honey! Are you alright?!"
"Waah! Mommy! That boy stole my card pack!"
"Jaden?! What on earth is that boy doing this time?!"
"Was that your boy?! How dare him! Harming my precious little angel like that!"
"JADEN!"
And so we travel back to the present…
Jaden skidded through the street, too afraid to turn back in fear of finding the picture of hell seen in a red dress and white vest. His mother was a particularly sweet woman at most times, she reminds him of his old mother when she smiles at him. But when she got upset…She's like a Mokey Mokey Smackdown gone overdose Jaden shivered at the accurate comparison …and I'm the poor sap that's alone on the field if he wasn't already pale before, he was ghostly now at the thought of the terror.
Place to hide! Place to hide! Place to hide! Jaden thought furiously as he tried to find a good place to hide, his eyes landed upon a large building with people streaming in and out of it Perfect! He thought as he ducked himself inside the crowed and entered the building without second thought, anything to get away from the coming danger that was his mother. But it was hard for even his now tiny body to squeeze between the seas of civilians. At this point he decided to try using his powers. Jaden stopped for a second and cleared his thoughts.
"Gélio anémou," Jaden said in a slow whisper, almost immediately after the power took effect, he ran through the crowds without hesitation. No one taller than him noticed the transparent boy go through other people with ease. Jaden couldn't help but smile at the successful cast. gélio anémou was a wind spell that was thought to him by Yubel on his days as the Herald, it was the first and the most simplest spell he cast. From what Yubel had beaten into him, the spell used mostly sounds rather than actual air.
The spell was supposed to make sounds go through him instead of bouncing off him, for Dual monsters, it did little except fool those who relied on ultrasonic waves to spy on prey, but since Jaden was a human with a real body, the spell caused him to become practically ghostly because the spell took out a main understanding in the human world, sound is reflected from those with matter.
"…You may not understand, but the world you live in is accompanied by a set of rules and requirements," Was what he mainly remembered from one of Yubel's speeches "In the spirit world, we call these rules 'The commandments of existence' they are what define the intellectual from the animals, the real and the unreal. Each world has a different set of rules, even in this world,"
"…In truth, only a handful of people were either reincarnated from some other world to yours or vice versa, but there had never been one who reincarnated from us to a world spiritually connected to us, that is what makes you special, Judai," Jaden remembered how he joked about how that made him awesome at that part.
"You shouldn't laugh about something like that, because of these rules; you belong at either both or neither of the worlds, although you can live normally on earth. The moment you use your powers though, you will automatically be ruled out by the world as a foreign entity and will only be recognized when the spell is done,"
Not even in the past fourteen years did he understand what she meant by belonging at either or neither worlds. Nothing went wrong with him in the Spirit world, and despite all the weird things that happen, it was almost normal for him.
He only realized the meaning of the warnings when he finally returned to the human world…
While Jaden was contemplating on this, he didn't realize the floors he had already gone up to. He looked around, only to find a hallway of rooms, with not a single person in sight. Jaden looked by the stairs for the floor number, shocked to realize that he was able to get to the 5th floor of the building without even realizing it. Having nothing else to do, he let his curiosity take over him and explore the floor he was at.
There was nothing much to be said about the floor, its vibrant yellow walls that was almost a sore to look at because of the bright lighting, the white carpet that covered the floor was either treated carefully or washed daily, because not a single smudge was seen, the white wooden doors that evenly covered the walls were so alike that if not for the number plates, they would have looked like mirrors on the walls, and the neatly arranged vase of flowers on the right to the staircase and elevator, pretty normal.
Jaden walked through the halls, his shoes barely making any sound on the furry floor, there really was nothing he-
J..d...i…
"Wah!?" A sharp pain entered his skull and caused him to yelp in agony, startling him into breaking the spell and let a flood of sensations fill him, the rough texture of the white carpet on his blue jeans, the powering aroma of the freshly placed flowers in the vase, the sound of his own yelp as he clutched his throbbing head.
It…hurts! Was the only coherent thought he could muster.
J…da…i…
Images started forcibly flashing pictures in his skull, a junkyard, an abandoned card shop, someone crying, the ruins of an odd contraption, a man building a bridge, a collapsed building-
…a memorial with his name on it
..Ju..da…i…
Tears were fighting to fall on his face, the pain was unbearable, it was as If someone was trying to get inside his head using a blunt axe. More images started appearing, a fire, a ruined city, a group of scientists what are these pictures trying to show me?! He screamed in his mind
The images of his unforgettable friends lingered through the pain
It hurts…someone…help me
"What the-! Hey soldier, what's wrong with ya?!"
…Soldier…?
Jaden's mind temporarily froze at the sound of an eerily familiar yet different voice, he couldn't do so much as protest when strong tanned arms easily lifted him of the ground and ran downstairs.
"Hang in there, Kid! I'm getting ya some help!"
…that voice…it's…No, the chances were like finding just one card from tens and thousands of decks, like being signaled out among trillions of duelists. Didn't the Crimson Dragon specifically told him not to attract their attention? How come…?
With a blurry eye, the boy looked up at the panicked yet determined face of a man Jaden was proud to call one of his close friends
…Kenzan…
This was not one of Kenzan's good days
Not one bit
Today, while coming home from a horrible day's work (He got into a fight with one of the duelists after his match, kid had the guts to insult him and his friends after he was so bluntly defeated) His car broke down due to some kids while getting lunch, he had to walk through a sea of people during the horrid "Japanese Lunchtime Rush", getting out only to find out that his lunch break had passed and he was late. He was used to exhaustion, being as fit as an army soldier, but this was just too much.
And just when he was about to go back to his apartment to get some rest…
Kenzan sighed as he sat on one of the hospital benches in front of the boy's room. Kenzan was in the elevator when he heard a brutal, high pitched scream resonate from the floor above him. He didn't hesitate to stop the elevator on that floor despite his tired body screaming for less adrenaline and more sleep. What he found was a young boy, no older than 5 or 6, wearing a white hoodie jacket and blue jeans, curled up in a ball as he clutched his head, screaming in pain.
Kenzan completely forgot about his previous aches and carried the boy downstairs, screaming for help, shocking everybody in the lobby. The first to unfreeze the hotel clerk, checked to see what was wrong with the boy before calling the hospital. Kenzan had set the boy, who had become too tired from screaming but was still obviously in pain, on a sofa while they waited for the ambulance to arrive. Only then did he notice that the boy's hoodie was up and covering his entire face.
"How can the Soldier breath if he's covering his mouth like that?" Kenzan had thought, he was about to open up the hood when…
"Oh My God! Jaden?!"
He was roughly pushed away by a feminine hand, the shock made him fall to the side
"OW! Watcha do that for?!"
"Ah! I'm Sorry! I just-, wait…Tyranno?!"
Kenzan blinked and looked up, his eyes landing a familiar shade of long, dual colored hair. There was only one person aside from his dear friend that had such a rare hair coloring. The girl he met during the commemoration.
"July?!"
By the time the Ambulance arrived, the boy had already lost consciousness and was immediately taken to the hospital, July and Kenzan following close behind.
Kenzan sighed when he remembered how panicked Judai's younger sister was when she found out her son, whose name was Jaden, was suffering from an unknown injury. From what he was able to get out from the worried mother, they were out shopping when Jaden picked a fight with this boy over a bunch of cards and ran away. She was angrily chasing him at first after this, but after she cooled herself down she realized that she had lost him, her anger immediately turning to worry, she started searching for him, she was just passing the hotel when she heard a man's voice (Who she realized was Kenzan) shouting about a kid being hurt.
The door to the kid's room opened, revealing July Yuki and a nurse, the mother looked sad, yet a relived expression was evident on her face.
"The boy will be alright," The nurse said calmly when Kenzan stood up and was about to ask "He suffered from a concussion for some reason and is currently resting, it's best for him to stay the night though, to let him heal," Kenzan smiled in relief knowing the squirt would be alright.
"The nurse said we shouldn't bother him while he's sleeping, so I decided to go back home for a while and call my husband, I'll come back here to watch over him," July said, her face back to its old happy self. Kenzan smiled at this, he didn't know her well, but just like her brother a frown looked alien on her face.
"But really, you should have told us you got a little tyke with ya! Soldier there looked about 7 or so right? That wasn't far from when we first met ya two!" Kenzan said happily to erase the previous tension in the air.
Before his friend's tragic death, Kenzan had never once thought of the feelings of the people Judai called his family. He was close alright, close enough to call Judai his best friend, but unlike Sho, Judai never once talked about anything but dueling in front of him. Maybe it was just a coincidence and the proper moment for such an event never really occurred during their time as friends, but Kenzan still felt hurt by the fact that he never once bothered to see his friend anything aside from being a duelist. Heck, even Jun knew more about Judai more than him!
So when he and the others met his little sister along with her husband, he was shocked from the revelation that Judai actually came from a fairly rich family. But more so, the pain he felt from not knowing anything about his friend stung him even worse...
But the one that felt that pain worse was most likely Jonah.
Kenzan realized, the moment they all got back from the spirit world so long ago, that Johan actually felt guilty for being the roots for Judai's "misfortune", and he still did.
Johan never showed it, but Kenzan (and maybe someone else to) always felt that Jonah was secretly blaming himself for having to be rescued, causing Judai to try and save him, which further caused the Supreme King to break Judai. Johan felt it was his fault at that time for Judai's sudden personality change. Even at the last time they saw Judai before he was went to go to the spirit world, when he returned Johan and Sho's dragon cards, when it seemed like Judai had finally went back to his old self, Johan's guilt only seemed to worsen…
Kenzan really couldn't imagine how guilty Johan must have felt at that time, to find out that Judai actually had a sister he cared for deeply, only for such an inexplicable things like Destiny to prevent him from being a normal duelist…
"…no! Oi Tyranno! Your Phone's ringing!" Kenzan's thought were brought back to earth at the sound of an annoyed brunet and the familiar ringing of his phone. Kenzan groaned in irritation at being taken out from his train of thoughts before taking out his phone, but the text message that came before his eyes surprised him out of his irritableness…
"…Tyranno, what's up?" July asked the frozen dino duelist, who, after a few seconds of staring into the screen, put it back in his pocket and sighed.
"Got some issues I have to deal of," Kenzan groaned as he scratched the back of his head "Got to go, hope that Soldier get's better soon!" Kenzan said quickly, he was about to leave the Hospital when-
"…Tyranno, what did you think of my child…?"
The sudden question caught the duelist by surprise, nearly tripping at his own foot going so "Huh?"
"…Jaden…my son, does he remind you of anyone?" July questioned, her eyes filled with curiosity
"uh…," Kenzan wasn't really prepared for that kind of question "Sorry, gal, I didn't really have time to see his face; his hood was up, why?" July looked surprised for a moment by Kenzan's answer, but slowly smiled again "Oh, nothing,"
Kenzan didn't really like the tone of her voice. What was so important about that kid's looks? His sleepy brain couldn't think of anyone that a 7 year old could resemble.
"Thank you for helping my son!"
"Not a problem, See ya!"
With that, the yellow duelist left the hospital, unaware of a certain card that fell from a deck on his belt.
…Ju…dai…
…Herald…Judai…
…You returned…You returned…
…Oh Herald of the Moon of Darkness…Cast away by the Blood Light…
…Bring back…what had given life to this land…
…Such…is your Fate…
Jaden was floating on midair
…I feel like I'm having…watcha call it? Déjà vu, I think…Jaden thought as he floated. He wasn't actually floating; it felt more like he was standing on the very wind that went through this world.
Jaden looked around; it wasn't like the last time where he only saw a black void. He was standing over a large forest and plains as far as the eyes could see. Rivers and lakes spread across the scenery as large mountains and volcanoes stretched across the horizon. The place almost looked like a fantasy land from a child's story book, but it didn't take long for Jaden to notice a few things that appeared out of place.
For one, the great trees that shaped the forest had a sickly yellow color; some trees didn't even have any leaves left on them and were just ominous remains of what had once been sacred trees. The plains that covered much of his point of view were dry and brittle, barely having anything aside from the withered remains of grass. The bodies of water had a murky texture, similar to blue slime, not even light was reflected on their surfaces. Even the sturdy mountains and lively volcanoes looked bland and weak under the gray, colorless sky.
Jaden looked up at the dull sky; there was absolutely nothing up there. There were no clouds, no birds flying high, not even the sun or moon. Despite the large area that surrounded him, Jaden felt an odd sense of claustrophobia just looking at it.
… oh wait…why am I here again…?
Jaden frowned as he tried to recollect what had happened, surprisingly, he could remember little of what happened, all he could get from his now tinier head was that he felt alought of pain from a mysterious voice and fell uncouncious, he had no recollection of what happened after that pain, but for some reason…he felt like he just met someone from somewhere…
*woosh* *woosh*
…huh? Or right! I'm floating on midair! Judai thought happily
….
….
….
"…wait…HOW DO I GET DOWN?!"
Jaden grimaced as he flailed his arms and legs wildly, trying to get down. It worked, but not in the way he wanted it to be
"GYHAAAAAAAA! I'M FALLLLLIIIIINNGG!"
It took Jaden 5 seconds to realize this
But fortunately for the young Herald, this world was not trying to kill him
Just before he would have been flattened into a pancake and thus ending the epic ballad of Jaden Yuki, the wind picked him up once more, letting him float just inches of the earthen ground. Jaden sighed in relief at this, allowing the wind to slowly set him down.
What happened after that almost seemed like magic to the eyes
…Our 'Moon'…has returned…
Life. That was what it looked like to Jaden's widening eyes.
Life began to sprout in this blank world
Just like that, the Mountains and Volcanoes sprung back to life, the fires burning vividly as the red smoke once again escaped from the rocky mouth. The lakes and rivers hummed once more as the wind passed through their pristine surfaces. Grasses and Flowers alike were rejuvenated from their long slumber, dressing the once bare plains in a coat of colors. Even the dying trees in the forest that Jaden landed on glowed back to life, emitting an enchanting glow as they slowly but surely healed themselves.
"What..?!" Jaden exclaimed in surprise, what happened?! One second it looked like it was covered by a gray cloud, the next it's all lively! It's not like he doesn't like the change, in fact he finds it very fitting and makes the place look less like a dead world. But could someone at least tell him what just happened?!
…Herald…of the Gentle Darkness…
…Rejoice…for you have returned…
Huh? Jaden started, wondering where that voice came from, it sounded like the voice that he heard before that pain came! But more than that…
How does that it know he's the Herald? And did it just call him "Judai"?
"Who…," Jaden started "Who's there?" He looked at the sky, the place where he thought the voice came from, but all he saw was a glistening moon and an array of stars keeping it company.
…We have awaited your return…
…The return of our beloved 'moon'…
"Huh? Moon? What do ya mean? Do I know you dudes? Where am I?" Jaden asked, a bit peeved by the lack of answers, but he should be used to this already, Since he had to spend 14 yrs with spirits like Yubel and Professor Banner who just loved speaking in riddles by his side.
…Do you not remember…?
…Home…this is…your home…
"…Eh?" Jaden cocked his head, what does the weird voice mean? Home? He currently only has one home left, and that's the large apartment he currently stays in. What other home does he have left?
…Do not forget…No not shun…
…The life you had before your life…
Now Jaden was more confused, what the heck is this voice talking about? Jaden tried to think of what the voice was saying. Life before his life? "It must be talking about my past life!" Jaden finally got it, the little wisdom he had at least got that part, but what about the others…?
"Home…? Moon…? Agh, my head hurts," Jaden groaned, how could he get a headache in a dream? "I sure wish someone would explain it to me…," He sighed.
"Kuri! Kuri!"
"Ah, not now, buddy, I'm trying to crack a code here,"
"Kuri?"
"I know right? I can never really get a straight answer from…Buddy?!"
"Kuri!" Jaden smiled widely as he hugged is long time spirit partner, Winged Kuriboh. Small tears of happiness appeared on Jaden's eyes, it's been so long since he saw his dear partner, or anyone from his old deck to say it bluntly, and the sight of his spirit partner looked too good to be true! But some part of Jaden knew that this was no dream and that the spirit in front of him is no mere illusion.
…this loyal child…waited for you…
…Do you understand now…?
…Do you understand…just where you are…?
Jaden lifted his head from Winged Kuriboh's fuzzy fur. With his friend in his arms, it only took him a second to answer the mysterious voice in a happy, yet even tone.
"I'm in the spirit world, right?" Jaden asked. The moment he uttered those words, the night sky was replaced with a beautiful summer sky as clear as day. Duel spirits of every level and attribute appeared, as if they were always there in front of him. It wasn't just the forest, but everywhere, billions of sounds were heard, greeting the bright sky.
Jaden felt Winged Kuriboh attempt to wriggle out of his arms, to which he complied and let Kuriboh fly out of his grasp and head towards the north.
"Want to show me something, buddy?" Jaden asked as he followed the exited sounding Kuriboh trough the woods, wondering where his partner wanted to take him. It took them a few minutes to exit the forest, to which Jaden was greeted by a majestic plain beside a river. But what caught his attention was not this, but the elegant duel monster that appeared to be waiting for them. It was a beautiful blue dragon with smooth and slender arms and delicate butterfly wings, sporting flowing green hair that gave the dragon an underwater look. It wore shining gold armor on her chest, wrists, and head.
Jaden smiled, he should have realized that the voice was from a familiar being from his past, he remember meeting her during his travels in the spirit world.
"Long time no see, Ancient Fairy Dragon," Jaden smiled at the spirit guardian
"A Herald's duty is to maintain balance," she said
…How many years have it been since I was trapped along with them…?
I can't believe Yubel's making me thread through this desert! There's no one to duel here!
…At least these dark beings are sealed…
"By the way, what's so important about these 'Nazca Lines'?"
…My Lord, I have failed. The seal has…
"Oh, So I just have to fix up their old seals?"
…The seal is weakening, if I could just distract the Immortals from noticing…
"Alrighty! After this I can go duel someone, right?"
...I am no fighter, but if I must die, I shall die protecting this world…
"Woah! Their so HUGE!"
…No, I must fight and win this; I must not let them escape…
…Huh? "There's something weird about this one…,"
…My dear brothers and sisters…protect this world at my stead…
"…This feeling…Hey, Yubel, Banner! Something else is trapped here!"
…Earthbound Immortals, I shall not let you pass…
"I'm telling ya, Yubel! There's something there! I think it's dying!"
...Ah, I am losing, but I must protect everyone…
"What?! I'm not letting it die here! I can't turn a blind eye at this!"
…I can't hold them…much longer…
"I don't care if it's a trap! I'm not letting it die!"
…No, The seal is breaking already…?!
"I knew it! There was something there!"
…Wait…there is someone there…
"Quick, get out of here! I'll stop those dudes from escaping!"
…! That power…how can a child have so much power…?
Crap! Their tough! No wonder Yubel wanted me to fix their seals!
…Darkness…such Soothing Darkness…could he be…?
A Miracle…In the form of the Moon
…It has been a while…Herald of Gentle Darkness… The guardian dragon said calmly as she lifted her wings, glad to see an old friend after so long. Jaden and Winged Kuriboh came towards the dragon with ease.
During his time as Judai, Jaden had met up with many helpful (but mostly not so helpful) spirits; Ancient Fairy Dragon was one of these helpful spirits. He had actually met her when Yubel made him travel all the way to the Nazca Desert to fix up a breaking seal on a group of "pictures" on the ground. While he was fixing up the "Spider" picture, he suddenly felt a second entity inside it and decided to set it free, despite Professor Banner and Yubel's protests, in fear of the Earthbound Immortals escaping.
It turned out for the best in the end, as the entity was actually Ancient Fairy Dragon, who was trapped along with the Earthbound Immortals millennia ago. The Duel Spirit was weak compared to now, having to fight the Earthbound Immortals for so long that it could barely take form in the human world, because of this; Jaden (Judai at the time) had asked Yubel if she could transport Ancient Fairy Dragon to the spirit world, hoping that the energy from the spirit world could rejuvenate her.
It was right after that scene that he found out his friends' cards were stolen and after that, traveled to the spirit world. In which he found out in that short amount of time she was transported and healed that she became the Spirit World's legitimate protector, alongside a beast spirit of the name Regulus.
"So you were the one that cracked my head that time?" Jaden said, pointing at his bushy skull "Couldn't you have gotten to me in a less painful way?"
The Ancient Dragon lowered her head slightly, as if guilty …I apologize…that was the only way…for me to contact you… Jaden smiled, he was never one to hold grudges, so he easily forgave her.
"But why did you call for me? And why now?" Jaden asked with a confused look as he sat on the green plains alongside his furry friend and a few other fairy type monsters that appeared.
…It was because we sensed your power after so long… Ancient Fairy Dragon said …that the desire for you to reestablish your purpose here brought you back home… Jaden cocked his head to the side as Wing Kuriboh played with the other fairy types. "What do you mean?"
…As you know… The dragon started …What brought life to this world was darkness…the trees…the flowers…the beings…none would have existed without the darkness that brought life… Jaden frowned, he remembered Yubel telling him about this once. …When you disappeared six years ago…the 'moon' of our world…life began to slowly fade into the light…
This got to Jaden "Six years ago?! You mean…when I…," Jaden shivered, he really didn't want to remember his own death.
…Yes…you were the only being left aside from your spirit…Yubel…that bore the Gentle Darkness inside of you…even when you reincarnated…you had to actually connect with the spirit world…to reestablish your position as the Herald of Gentle Darkness… she said wisely.
"…But you couldn't find me…," Jaden mumbled, the pieces finally piecing together, before shooting his head up "Was it because of that Destructive Darkness I felt?" The Dragon nodded …yes...the wave of Darkness prevented me from searching for you in the human world… Jaden frowned again "What was that weird thing anyways? What happened?" Jaden asked, but the before the protector could answer, she felt something and raised her head in alert.
"…Ancient Fairy Dragon…?" Jaden asked, it wasn't just her, but all the spirits were raising their heads up, as if sensing something happened, even Winged Kuriboh was staring at the summer sky.
…It would seem as your time here is at its end… Ancient Fairy Dragon said once everyone was back to normal "What happened? Why did all of you look up at the sky?" Jaden wanted to ask, but then he felt the wind picking up, forcing him, and only him, off his feet.
…Judai…no…Jaden Yuki… Ancient Fairy Dragon called out to the resisting Jaden …As of this moment…you are now completely merged together with the Destinies of others…but please remember…that despite this… at least cherish every moment and every person you meet… If Jaden wasn't too startled by the wind carrying him, he would have felt stunned by Ancient Fairy Dragon's words.
His grip loosening, he was pulled away by the wind, Winged Kuriboh following him as they both disappear from the Spirit world
…May we meet…again…
With that, Jaden Yuki woke up, clutching a certain card in his hands
"Are you sure you're alright, Jaden?" Jaden's mother, July, asked the 7 year old boy as they walked to the park "You just had a concussion a week ago, the doctor said the effect should last at least three weeks, you don't need to exert yourself like this," July said as the boy held a black medium sized cat plushie with yellow eyes in his right hand, while on his left was a small red duel disk strapped firmly on his arm.
"I told you I'm fine Mom," Jaden said energetically, skipping as he clutched his black cat plushie, Yori "Besides! I don't like being cooped up inside! I want to play!" He smiled widely, giving Yori a quick hug as to contain some of his excitement and joy "Honestly, I wonder where you got that love for games of yours," she said, a smile playing in her lips.
Jaden laughed, it had only been a week since he was taken to the hospital by a stranger his mother apparently knew but wouldn't tell him, which confused him, but decided not to question his mother's actions. He was forced to stay home at the first five days, but with his father's help via videophone, he was able to go out today, as long as he doesn't tire himself too much.
"Kuri! Kuri!" Jaden turned slightly at his exited partner, Winged Kuriboh. Jaden laughed, He didn't know nor cared what had happened, but when he woke up, he found a Winged Kuriboh card clutched in his hand, no, he found his Winged Kuriboh card clutched in his hand, he new right from the ghetto that the card he was clutching on to was indeed his original card from his original deck. He was ecstatic at first, he thought that since his partner was here, his other friends, and hopefully Yubel, was also here. But to his disappointment, he couldn't find anyone else aside from his friend. Apparently, Winged Kuriboh was separated from his original deck all those years ago, and was later found by one of the excavators. It was then given to someone who seemed familiar to the spirit monster, but never bothered to find out, falling asleep as an unused card until that day when it felt Jaden's presence.
"Just behave around the other kids, okay?" July warned her son "If you dare pick a fight with one of them, no fried shrimp for dinner!" Jaden gulped and nodded at this, when it came to punishments, his mom never joked. Just as he thought of this, an unfamiliar voice called out to them.
"July? July Yuki, is that you?" Jaden snapped out of his train of thoughts when a woman that looked like the same age as his mother came towards them. The woman was of normal height wearing a dandelion cardigan and a matching skirt that covered her knees; she was holding a blue handbag with a cute rose button fastened on it. She would have looked completely normal if it wasn't for the fact that she had long, burgundy hair.
"Setsuko! Long time no see! I wasn't expecting you here!" Jaden watched as his mother greeted the woman with an exited expression, it was easy to see that these two were really good friends.
"What are you doing here anyways? You rarely go outside, you were always an indoor person," July asked the maroon haired woman, who simply gave a smile and a small chuckle "Well it's not everyday we have time for a family outing with my husband's tight schedule and all!" The woman known as Setsuko pointed towards her husband and daughter who were seated on a picnic blanket under the shade of a large tree.
"Oh!" Setsuko gasped when she noticed Jaden behind his mother "Is this your son? He looks so cute!" Jaden could only grumble at being called 'cute' as the woman knelt down to examine him "You are right, he looks exactly like you! And what an adorable face he has!" As much as Jaden didn't like being called adorable, he didn't have the guts to talk back at her.
"Jaden, is it? My name is Setsuko. Me, your father, and your mother had been together since high school!" Setsuko said happily with a cooing voice "Nice to meet ya!" Jaden said, giving her a toothy grin.
"How old are you, Jaden deary?" Setsuko asked, ignoring the deary part, Jaden answered "I just turned 6!" Setsuko smiled before turning back to July "Mind if he plays with my daughter for a while?" Setsuko asked, to which July agreed.
"We have lots to catch up on anyhow; I have so much to tell you!" July said, giving Jaden a pat on the head "We should invite that husband of yours too, I don't think he's gonna have much fun with the kids!" The women laughed, leaving Jaden to wonder what they meant by that.
"Come now, Jaden! Let me introduce you to my friend's daughter!" July grabbed Jaden's left hand before walking towards the pair under the tree. Upon closer expectation, the father had a normal enough appearance, sporting somewhat neat hair and a thick brown beard, he was wearing a plain green shirt and pants, he also had a somewhat long face, small traces of eye bags, and a sleepy smile, as if he didn't get much rest. This person was completely different from his lively daughter.
"Mommy!" The daughter stood up from her spot from the tree and ran towards her mother, hugging her "Today was great! I want to come back here tomorrow with Mommy and Daddy! Pretty please?" Setsuko smiled and patted her daughter's head "Now what did I tell you about asking too much? Don't you remember? Mommy and Daddy have work tomorrow," Almost immediately, the smile in the girl's face slowly disappeared.
"But don't worry! We'll come here next week!" Setsuko said immediately, turning to her husband "Right?" The man shrugged a bit before nodding with a smile "Alright, so no more crying, okay?" The child's smile returned immediately "Okay!"
"My, what a lovely family you got yourself, Setsuko," Jaden's mom said with a smile "Hehe, their my pride and joy," Setsuko smiled
"Sweetie, this is July, she and her husband were good friends of mine since high school!" Setsuko said as she introduced July to her daughter. "Hello…," the girl smile shyly, suddenly realizing that there was other people other than her family there.
"And this is-," Before Setsuko could introduce July's child; the boy came up to the girl himself and grabbed her hands, surprising the girl slightly.
"Hi! My name is Jaden! Do you duel?" Jaden chirped with his ever exited voice, because the girl was still surprised by the sudden introduction, she merely shook her head slightly, causing Jaden's energy to wilt slightly, but quickly becoming energetic again.
"Oh? Then you want me to teach you?" Jaden smiled, the girl blinked "h-huh? W-why?" She asked uncertainly "Because Dueling is fun of course!" Jaden said, not missing a beat "You look like you'd be an awesome duelist to battle too!" The girl tilted her head slightly "…An Awesome…Duelist?" Jaden nodded happily.
"I don't know why, but I have a gut feeling you'd be great!" Jaden said "So? Want me to teach ya? It'll be really fun, I promise!"
The girl blinked and looked at her mother and father, both gave an encouraging smile. The girl beamed before turning back, her short burgundy hair swishing through the wind, towards the boy that was most likely her first real friend in her life.
"Sure! My name's Akiza by the way! Nice to meet you, Jaden!"
The two beamed at each other, blissfully unaware of the strings of fate slowly intertwining once more.
How do you like it? I originally wanted the starting to be because Jaden blew up his room while using his powers to clean…but that sounded bad.
So yeah, surprise! I made Jaden and Akiza meet! I always thought of Akiza's power (and maybe the rest of the psychic duelists now that i think of it) as something that was influenced by the Gentle Darkness. I mean, the description is almost the same! They can summon and control duel monsters and cause them to inflict real life damage.
Remember Bond's Beyond Time? Judai was able to summon Neos and deflect a large attack that could inflict real damage, so wouldn't that mean that Neos can also inflict real time damage?
But aside from that reason, i noticed how similar their pasts were. Think about it like this-
"A once innocently normal child that was destined to become abnormal. Every time they tried to befriend someone by dueling, they only ended up hurting them, but they really just wanted to become part of the group,"
See? If Judai's parents hadn't gotten Yubel out of the way, who knows what Judai would have ended up as.
