Yes, yes, I know. I'm doing this again. But I want to write something, and I don't have any other ideas, so… yep! Here we go.
1. U Smile- Justin Bieber
When Tony said that he wanted to tousle Ziva's hair because sometimes it made her smile, he meant it. He really had tried to noticed what made her smile, because she didn't seem to do it enough. Or when she did, it had a sarcastic edge to it. He loved when she laughed, carefree, happy. It did something to his insides, made them all soft.
As soon as this thought came into his head, he quickly pushed it out. You are not soft, DiNozzo.
But deep down, he knew he was.
2. Who I Am- Alan Jackson
Tony was disgusting.
Ziva sat at her desk, hands perched on her keyboard, staring across at him. He was bent over a paper plate while he shoved a piece of greasy meat lover's pizza in his hand, sauce dripping down his throat.
Honestly. Why did she love him, again?
3. Kiss a Girl- Keith Urban
After six years, he was doing it. Six years of flirting, six years of bickering, six years of jealousy and repressed feelings had led to this moment. This moment where Tony DiNozzo was about to do the hardest thing he'd ever done.
He was going to kiss his partner.
It wasn't like kissing was new to him. Far from it. But for some reason, the thought of finally kissing Ziva made his stomach turn over and butterflies come up in his throats. So many things could happen. She could willingly kiss back, or she could push him away and file a restraining order.
One way to find out.
4. Crank That (Soulja Boy)- Soulja Boy Tell 'Em
"This song is huge right now," Tony said, turning up the stereo on his computer.
"I do not see why," Ziva said, turning back to her book. "It is terrible. I cannot even tell most of what he is saying, and what I can understand is awful songwriting."
"That's the point."
She cocked an eyebrow. "You listen to songs because they are horrible?"
"Well, yeah. We love this kind of thing here."
"I will never understand you Americans."
5. This Is Our Country- The All American Band
Gibbs' team sat in his driveway, lined up in lawn chairs, looking up at the night sky. Around the neighborhood, fireworks went off over the houses, and cheers erupted.
Gibbs lit a firework in the street and backed quickly away. It shot up in the air and burst into an array of red and blue. His team cheered; McGee gave Abby a one-armed hug, Ziva put her head on Tony's shoulder, and Ducky and Palmer chortled as debris fell on them.
With a grin, Gibbs thought that as long as he had this team and this country, he would be fine.
6. First Time- Lifehouse
"What do you need?" Tony asked, his voice low as he leaned close to Ziva. They were in the elevator, the stop button pushed, and he was trying to get something from her.
Anything that would help him understand what was bothering her.
She crossed her arms and looked away. "I do not know."
"Yes, you do."
The sharpness of his words made her look up in surprise. Trying not to blush, she said, "Um. Well, I think maybe I could use a… a hug."
"Whatever you need," he said, and wrapped his arms around her.
7. Yeah!- Usher
"I have a question."
"What is it?" Tony didn't look up from his cell phone, completely immersed in his game of Tetris.
"How did the word 'yeah' evolved? How did it go from 'yes' to 'yeah'?" Ziva tapped a pencil against her lips thoughtfully. "Have you ever wondered?"
"Um, no, actually," he said. "I have better things to worry about."
"Really."
"Yeah."
"See! You just said it! How can you say something so often and not have any idea where it originated from?"
"I don't know, Ziva. Because it doesn't matter, maybe?"
She opened her mouth to argue this, but was interrupted by Gibbs swinging around the corner and saying, "DiNozzo, are you working?"
"Yeah!"
8. Inseparable- Jonas Brothers
Twice, they had been separated.
Twice, they had been reunited against all odds.
The first time was out of their control, and so was the reunification. But the second time… it was her choice. She chose to leave, to make a decision that may lead to them never seeing each other again.
He made a choice, too. A choice that resulted in her being found and rescued and brought back with them. With him. To resume their unshakable partnership.
9. When There Was Me and You- High School Musical
Ziva didn't like this Jeanne person. She had only met her briefly, and she knew that Jeanne and Tony's relationship was over, but Tony's heart was still in it. He brushed off her question about soul mates, obviously not wanting to get into that with her.
It hurt her more than she was willing to let on. She was not one to believe in soul mates and romantic things like that, but she thought Tony really might be hers. It was just a feeling, but one he obviously did not share.
10. Shelf- Jonas Brothers
Tony narrowed his eyes as he watched Ziva, giggling as she answered an e-mail, presumably from CI-Ray.
Then his eyes drifted over her shoulder, to E.J. Barrett, that new girl. He stared at the back of her head until she turned around and met his gaze. They looked at each other for a few seconds, and then she turned back to her work.
He looked at Ziva, who still had a small smile on her face.
And back at E.J. Barrett's blonde head.
Fine. If Ziva was going to flaunt some other guy in his face, he was going to do the same thing.
