I'm here in the school's computer lab typing things into the search bar. Anything on Maximillion Pegasus. Just two seconds ago Jet had returned to the room from the cafeteria. The guy can't go three seconds without eating.

"Okay, you got your food now?" I ask, glancing over him. I see him holding a bag of gummies, and I couldn't tell whether to be questionable, embrassed, or pissed. One or the other I felt compelled to ask. "I gave you five dollars and you get a bag of gummies?"

"I got five packs from the vending machine," Jet defends. "I just... ate them all on my way here."

An exasperated sigh escapes my lips. Aunt Mai always did say he and Joey were alike when it came to their appetites. "Can I have some?"

Jet rolls his eyes and complies. "Anyway, you find anything about that Pegasus guy?"

"As a matter of fact I did," I grin in victory, standing up from my seat to show him. "I can't believe our parents kept all this from us."

"Kept what?"

"Look," I point, showing a bunch of old articles of the first Duelist Kingdom Tournament. "It says here that both our dads both competed in the tournament."

"My dad?" Jet repeats in disbelief as he reads the article beside me. Our faces hover over the monitor, showing a young Yugi and Joey high fiving one another. "Wow, my dad came in second for the tournament."

I narrow my eyes at the picture of Pegasus in another window. "This Maximillion Pegasus; he might know a thing or two about my parents."

"How do you know if he really does?" Jet questions with a worried look. "So yeah your dad competed in his tournament and won. Like this guy really knows anything about the disappearances."

"I don't know why but I just have this feeling we're in the right direction." Despite Jet's reasonable notion, my gut is telling me he's our guy. He knows something. Ive never met him, seen him, dreamt about him, anything. All I know is he created the game. But despite the lack of connection... I just know it. "He has to know something..."

"Then... maybe we can try to contact him or something."

"Talk to him?" I repeat, surprised.

"It's what you want right? I mean, KaibaCorp and Industrial Illusions are both Duel Monsters gaming companies. Surely there must be some way you can contact Pegasus." I stare at Jet for a minute before grabbing his small pouch of gummies from him at surprise. "H-Hey what was that for?!"

I turn it on its back where the nutrient facts are. "I'm looking to see if these gummies have any brain protein. You're being awfully smart today."

"Hey that hurts," Jet laughs as he tries to get the gummies back, only for me to hold them up in the air behind me. "Gimmie they're mine!"

"I'm the one who gave you the money." This guy.

I ride my bike back home to KaibaCorp today after school, without Jet this time. (Something about how he didn't want to be around when Kaiba snaps). We're still planning on asking Kaiba about Pegasus, but from what I found out in research from the computer lab, KaibaCorp and Industrial Illusions are both rivaling companies. We've seen photos of Kaiba and Pegasus, and by the looks of them Set doesn't seem very fond of the man, for whatever reason. I just hope that Kaiba doesn't snap when I bring up the subject.

As I park my bike outside in the parking lot, I run into Mokuba, parking his car. Guess he's just coming home, too. "Mokuba," I say as he exists his car.

"Amet, you're back," Mokuba smiles, seeing me as I finish locking the chain on my bike. "How was school?"

"Fine," I answer. Mokuba was the more communicative of the two Kaiba brothers. You know, asks how my school day went, am I hungry, you wanna get stuff at the store kinda communication. I usually go to Mokuba for advice anyway. Can't blame me. Compared to Kaiba he just so much more approachable. If you wanted to buy a nightlight because the thunder storms were too loud who would you bother about it - Kaiba or Mokuba? (Personally I went to Rolland but that's besides the point).

Before Mokuba can walk away, I speak up. "Mokuba?"

He stops to turn around. "Yeah, Amet?"

"Do you know anything about Maximillion Pegasus?" I ask with my helmet under my arm.

I notice Mokuba's eyebrows raise a little. Mm, maybe I shouldn't have asked? "What about him?"

"Well I, uh," I stammer, starting to feel regretful. "I wanted to ask if Kaiba knew anything about Pegasus." Like that helps.

"Seto?" Mokuba says with a face. "If I were you I wouldn't even mention that name to him at all."

"How come?" I follow, keeping up with him as we walk across the lot.

"Just trust me on this one. We had a very complicated past concerning Pegasus," Mokuba says carefully, remembering the Duelist Kingdom days. Sure after a while everyone and Pegasus came onto tolerable terms, but it still could easily strike a nerve in Kaiba.

"Oh," I say, realizing that it may have been a bad idea to ask Kaiba after all. "Sorry for asking."

"What made you bring that up, anyway?"

I have to come up with something. I can't just say I'm looking for my parents. At least not yet, anyway. "Uh, my teacher at school today was talking about the first Duelist Kingdom Tournament, and when my dad's name came up I got curious."

Mokuba looks suspicious. Good job Amet. "Exactly how much of Duelist Kingdom did you find out about, Amet?"

"Just that my dad won, that's all. That Kaiba was in it, too."

Mokuba stays silent for a minute, just staring me down. I gulp quietly. "Then that's all you need to know," he says finally.

My heart can beat again. "Thanks, I guess."

Mokuba makes a sympathetic smile. Teenage girls, he must be wondering about. "Let's get out of this parking lot. We can talk inside."

I made a small smile and ran up to catch up with Mokuba so the two of us can go inside together. I guess one thing I figured out was that there is definitely some bad blood. All the more reason to snoop around.

That night, I'm able to finish my homework and studies a lot quicker than usual. Anxiety, probably. I keep thinking about my parents and Pegasus. I try to stop, but I end up ditching my history book for my computer. Right now I'm on my laptop, doing research on my father. I find articles old on how the 'King of Games' went missing with his wife. Some even presumed he was dead, which I find myself glaring at. Yes I took it in as a possibility before, but I would never accept it as the truth.

I'm able to find an old picture of my dad as a teenager, like me probably. But, he looks a little... younger? (I could've sworn another picture of him at Duelist Kingdom looked a little different). I click on the image to enlarged it, and there I find some other kids in it. I immediately recognize my dad from the hair. Then I see my mom. She was rather taller than my dad as a teen. I also see Joey in there, holding my dad in a headlock with a grin. There was also Tristan, a friend of Joey's. He comes over occasionally to the Wheeler Household.

As I stare at the picture, forgetting the fact my dad has two separate looks in two separate photos, my phone starts to ring. I pick it up from the receiver and press the button. "Hello?"

"Hey Amet, you talk to Kaiba yet?" Jet's voice asks on the other line.

I sigh and close my laptop, laying back in my bed. "No. I talked to Mokuba, though."

"Oh," he says, surprised. "Well, what'd he say?"

"Nothing too useful," I report depressingly. "All I know is that they all had a very complicated thing concerning Pegasus."

"What do you think hapened?"

"Maybe they're just rivals when it comes to companies."

"Then there."

"But that's not it," I assume, staing over the edge of my bed. "I want to believe it's just that, but I think there's more. Like, a lot more."

"You're paranoid," Jet tells me. I can picture him rolling his eyes. "You say your get tells you things - are they ever right?

"I still want to talk with Pegasus," I ignore. How can I ever tell if my gut's right when I never check to see?

"But how? If KaibaCorp hates Pegasus, how can you get in contact with him?"

At first I had a pondering look, but then I look up. "Then, we'll have to make contact with him ourselves."

"And how do you propose we do that? I doubt you can just find him in the phone book."

I sit back up, re-opening my labtop. "Maybe I can hack into Industrial Illusions and I can put him on over web cam so we can talk."

"Wasn't thinking of that but it sounds like a plan, if it works."

"I hope it works," I say, typing into the keyboard.

"... Hey wait a minute! Since when did you learn how to hack into a gaming company?" Jet's voice snaps.

"Roland accidentally locked me inside the control panel room," I answer. Most times when Mokuba wasn't around, Kaiba would just hand me over to his head of security, Roland. And well, I was his problem for a long time. Good decision he made, retiring after so long. "And... done!"

"You actually did it?" Jet says disbelievingly.

Another window appears on my screen, showing a man with long white silver hair covering a side of his face. Oh my gosh is he streaming live? "You're Maximillion Pegasus," I blank out, completely ignoring Jet's voice on the phone. Oh my gosh it's Maximillion Pegasus.

The man smirks, flipping his hair. "And you must be Amunet Mutou."

My starstruk shock leaves me for confusion. "How did you know my name?" I ask, narrowing my eyes.

For a second I thought I saw a golden sparkle underneath his hair in the part that blocked the side of his face. "It doesn't matter now. You wanted too speak with me for a reason, yes? How else would you explain my tech security finding a little hacker from a little Kaiba-brther adoptee?"

He's good. Caught me, too. "I wanted to know if you knew anything about my parents," I say steadily.

"Ah, the tragic missing couple of Duel Monsters." The man smiles. "I expected this day to be coming soon. Why, we must meet in person, Amunet."

"Huh?" I ask, raising my eyebrow.

"Yes, what a brilliant plan! Please Amunet you must come visit me in my castle here in Duelist Kingom."

"M-Me? Go to Duelist Kingdom?" I repeat in pure shock. "B-But how can I? I don't think Kaiba would let me leave for Duelst Kingdom, let alone leave the country."

"So Yugi really did leave you in the care of Kaiba-boy. My my you poor poor thing," Pegasus says with a sorrowful face. "This only proves how much I need you to come see me - especially if you want to find your parents." My overview on this whole situation changes the second he says that. So he does know something. But is Pegasus trustworthy? "Of course I can't just send a private jet over to pick you up - Kaiba-boy would throw a fit if anything Industrial Illusions even showed up on his radar."

"So how can I get to Duelist Kingdom?"

"You'll find a way, Amunet. You seem like a bright girl. And if you're half the Mutou your father was, I'm sure you'll figure something out," Pegasus says cryptically before his window closes on my screen.

After all that, I remember Jet and I hear his muffled voice from the phone against my bed, trying to grab my attention. Quickly I pick it back up hoping he's still there. "Hello?"

"Amet! Finally!" Jet groans. "What happened to you?"

"I think I just talked to Pegasus," I say, almost laughing as the smile starts to instill itself on my face. Did I really just do it? " Jet... It looks like we're heading to Duelist Kingdom."

"... What?"

"We, as in me and you. You and me? Travel? To Duelist Kingdom," I explain slowly, and excited. "Oh my gosh WE'RE GOING TO DUELIST KINGDOM!"

"I heard you. It just sounds so... sudden," he says. "And impossible did you just say we're going to Duelist Kingdom?"

"I could always go alone."

"No I'm coming!" Jet shouted in assurance, making my chuckle. "Just, how though?"

"That's what I'm trying to figure out," I say as I turn off my laptop. "And without anybody knowing, too. I don't think Kaiba would approve of me going to see Pegasus."

I can feel Jet pondering on the other line. "Hey, Kaiba still has one of those Blue-Eyes White Dragon Jets right?"

"Oh yeah. I almost forgot we had those," I smile, thinking back. "We used to play together inside that thing."

"Why don't we use that?" Jet asked. "It can hold two people."

"And how do you propose we get it without getting caught, exactly?"

"Um... We don't tell him?" Jet say unsure. Is he serious?

"Only you'd say that, Jet," I frown, unable to think o any other way. "Alright fine. We'll use the jet. We'll have to reach Pegasus soon though. He's expecting us." Kaiba can ground me later for all I care. I think weve just found our ticket to adventure.

"We'll skip school tomorrow?"

"Just meet me at KaibaCorp before eight and we're set to go."

IN THE NEXT CHAPTER...

"You know you're 14 now," Kaiba said. "Whether you like it or not, dueling is going to be a apart of your life. Like your dad."

"My dad must have really liked dueling then," I assumed.

"You can say that," Kaiba said, his arms still crossed. "But of course he had a reason to."

x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

Kaiba picked up the phone to talk directly and not on speaker.

"Mr. Kaiba," said a male voice, probably the principal. "It's come to my attention that Amunet Motou is not in school today."
