Disclaimer: See chapter 1!
"Emma, you have been here all week. Your parents said they only see you when they will sometimes drop off food. Henry says you never leave the house unless you're getting food. You have been tending to Regina for 7 whole days now. You need to take care of yourself too."
Emma sipped her coffee once more, shaking her head. "I'm fine Zelena. I need to be here for Regina. I'm not the one broken. She is." Had it really been 7 days already? Time seemed to freeze while she had been here at the mansion, she did basically the exact same thing every day. She had gotten into a routine, and had become very familiar with the large mansion. But, Zelena was right, she needed to take care of herself too. She didn't honestly care though, she cared more about the brunette than herself.
Zelena reached out and grabbed Emma's hand, "Emma, we are all very worried about the two of you. She hasn't left her bed, and you. Well Emma, you're a mess. You look like you've gotten barely any sleep, your whole life has been filled with Regina, you need a break. Let me stay here and watch her, you go and get some fresh air for a few hours."
Emma stood and walked towards the sink, "No, I am not going to leave her. She needs me right now, I wish everyone would stop trying to get me to take a break. I am fine!" She placed the mug in the sink and leaned against her hands now resting on the edge of the counter.
Zelena turned towards Emma, "Emma…" She frowned, then realization hit her, Zelena gasped, "Oh Emma, you love her, don't you?"
Emma turned around quickly and tried to hide her blush. She cleared her throat, "Zelena, she is devastated, she is completely torn apart at the loss of her little girl."
Zelena tilted her head and smirked, "Oh you have it bad, you for sure love her."
Emma couldn't hide it in anymore, "I think I might be in love with her. I think I always have been."
Zelena rushed towards Emma, "Oh Emma! Finally!" She brought Emma into a tight embrace.
Emma pushed Zelena away slightly, "What do you mean finally?"
Zelena shook her head, "Emma the whole town has seen the two of you. It's quite clear you two are in love with each other. And your actions this past week has just solidified it all."
Emma blushed, did everyone really think that? Did this mean Regina could in fact have feelings for her as well? She shook her head, "I can't think about that right now. I need to focus on getting Regina back to her old self. She needs a friend, not someone confessing their love." The statement was true, Emma needed to focus on all her attention to helping the brunette get back to her old self. Wasn't that what being in love was all about anyways? It was about being selfless at the most important times, it was being there for the person when they needed you most. Love was about putting the other person needs before you when they couldn't take care of themselves. And right now, Regina needed her more than anything. She was experiencing her lowest part of her life right now and Emma wasn't going to get sidetracked from her goal of helping the hurt brunette.
Zelena just shook her head and went to go and sit back at the table, allowing Emma to clean the dishes from Regina and Emma's dinner. Zelena had clearly decided not to push the blonde any further. Emma seemed to already be on edge as Zelena watched Emma clean the dishes, so she didn't want to be the cause of Emma to get any more upset.
Emma scrubbed the dishes, slightly harder than usual, trying to get out her frustration on the dishes. When she flashed back to remembering the last time she let herself admit she had feelings for the brunette, she eased up on the pressure. Emma had already thrown enough dishes against the wall, she didn't need to break anymore. When she finished cleaning the dishes she walked Zelena to the door, she wasn't used to having company at the mansion, since mostly people stayed away unless her parents were dropping off food, or Henry was saying hi to his brunette mother. So, when the doorbell had rung just a half hour prior and she was greeted by a forceful red headed Zelena, she was shocked and now was ready to go back to her bubble she had been in the past week.
As she bid her goodbye's to Zelena, she lingered in the doorway just a tad longer than she should of. She couldn't help but hold onto the words Zelena had said not just 10 minutes ago. She couldn't help her mind wondering to the thought of being with the brunette. She shook the thoughts out of her mind once again and closed the door. She walked up the steps and to the bedroom, that had become her home.
She sat on the edge of the bed and stared into the chocolate brown eyes, Regina had moved back to her starting position, facing the bathroom. Emma rubbed softly on Regina's shoulder, looking down at the brunette with nothing but love, "Your sister is a piece of work you know. 30 minutes with her felt like a lifetime. She's draining." Emma thought she had almost seen a hint of a smile creep along Regina's lips, maybe the brunette's walls were finally starting to fall. Emma stared at the brunette for a long moment, then moved a stray hair behind Regina's ear, a move she loved to do all too much, keeping her hand there longer than she should have. She stopped when Regina closed her eyes and hummed. Emma smiled softly, not letting the brunette see her blush, she stood up and walked to the other side of the bed.
She pulled the covers back and laid down against her pillow, she looked up at the ceiling. Something suddenly got into her, and she felt like she had no control over her tongue. Before she could even stop herself and reason with her mouth, she was speaking softly to the brunette, "I miss you Regina."
Emma's heart began to race as the brunette moved to stare at her. Emma couldn't read the expressionless face, she began beating herself up mentally. She had no idea what was going on in the brunette's mind and for a moment, it seemed like Regina might speak, but she didn't, but Emma could tell Regina really wanted to. Instead of saying anything Regina moved in as close as she could to Emma, she placed her arm over the blonde's waist and nestled into Emma's chest. Emma relaxed her nerves, this motion seemed to spark something in both woman. It was as if they had admitted feelings for one another without saying a word of confirmation. It was immediately calming to Emma, causing her heart to stop racing. Emma couldn't help but run her fingers through the short brown hair. She felt the brunette begin to cry on her chest and held the brunette tighter, the movement said it all, I am in love with this woman.
I know my sister is a piece of work. I'm sorry you had to put up with her. Ugh! I want so much to talk to you Emma. Why can't I talk to you? Regina hated herself for still not being able to talk to Emma after 7 days. She didn't understand her body, and for that she hated it, well no she hated her body for more than just not being able to speak. She hated her body for killing her little girl, she hated her body for causing her to shut down like she had, she even hated herself. Then her mind flashed to the moment her mother gave that potion to her, causing her to never have children. Regina had fought for years after realizing she never should have given into her mother, she fought to find a cure to the 'poison'. After long tiring days of failure she gave up. So, when she suspected she was pregnant after Robin's death she couldn't believe it. But, when the test had come back positive she thought she had finally broken her mothers' curse. However, now she realized she had just weakened it, since she couldn't hold her little girl to full term. So, she would sit and listen to blonde, hating her mother and her body.
However, something had happened yesterday and it was like the 'curse' broke that kept her from hearing the blonde fully, she could hear Emma without any selection and she loved it. She loved being able to hear Emma's voice, she loved she could finally hear the laugh Emma would do when watching TV, something she only knew previously by the vibrations of the bed. Hearing the blonde laugh for the first time yesterday, Regina thought her heart actually melted in her chest when the laugh filled the air. It was like a drug for the brunette, she wanted to hear it all day long, because what she would hear sometimes when Emma thought she was sleeping, that did actually break her heart.
When Emma thought the brunette was asleep Emma would sometimes let her emotions release, her cry would softly fill the quiet room at night, and Regina would just listen, wanting nothing more than to wrap herself around the blonde and kiss away the pain. She hated she was the cause of those tears, she was creating this pain in the blonde and she truly hated herself for it. Sometimes she wished that her selective hearing caused her to not be able to hear Emma's soft cries, she wondered if some outside force was punishing her by hearing soft cries of the blonde.
Regina was pulled from her thoughts when she felt Emma's touch, as Emma held her hand on the side of her face she allowed herself to close her eyes, embracing the touch. She internally frowned when the blonde pulled away. Come back Emma, please oh how much she wished she could say it out loud.
Regina focused on every movement of the blonde as she moved to the other side of bed, she could hear every step and every breath. When Emma laid down the sudden warmth next to her gave her a sense of comfort and safety. She closed her eyes once more, not prepared for what came out of the blonde's mouth.
"I miss you Regina."
Regina's eyes shot open and her heart became heavy. She wanted to respond, she wanted to respond more than anything, but her damn vocal cords wouldn't work. Damnit! I just want to talk to her. I just want her to know…her thoughts trailed off as her mind wouldn't let her true feelings come to light just yet. She looked over at the blonde slightly, then without thinking or saying anything she did the only thing she could to let the blonde know she was sorry. She rolled over and placed her arm over the blonde's waist, getting as close as she could to the blonde, and laid her head on the blonde woman's chest. She decided in that moment that this was her new favorite spot, that she never wanted to leave it.
When she felt Emma trail through her hair she closed her eyes and melted into the blonde. I am so sorry my love. Tears began to fall down her face, she was glad Emma was used to her crying because the blonde didn't seem to think anything of it, except for hold her tighter which melted the brunette's heart. However, what the blonde didn't know was that for the first time in a week, the tears that were falling down her face were not because of her lose or her pain, but they were because of love. She was feeling completely overwhelmed with the love she had for the blonde. She was falling in love with the women she was laying with, she was madly and deeply in love with Emma Swan.
The next morning
Emma blinked awake, she felt like she had just gotten out of a coma. She felt fully rested, feeling like she had the best night's sleep she ever had. She looked down slightly to see that Regina was still tightly consumed in the blonde's arm. Maybe you are the reason I slept so good. She ran her fingers through the brown locks, stopping when she felt the brunette stir under her arm. She turned her head to the bedside table and grabbed her phone. She smiled at the good morning message from her son. She thought about getting up and starting the day, but she decided that she was enjoying the position she was in far too much. So, she decided she would just reply to Henry, and sit still.
Emma: Hay kid! How's your Monday going so far?
Henry: Good, last period has become a free period today.
Emma: Wow, is it 3 pm already? I slept late.
Henry: Wait, your still in bed?
Emma: Yup. I guess I slept pretty hard. Must have needed it.
Henry: How is she?
Emma: Honestly, I think there may have been a break through last night. But don't get to excited just yet…okay?
Henry: I know mom. Has she spoken yet.
Emma: No, not since those two times.
Henry: I love you mom. I'll see you after school.
Emma: I love you too.
Emma could feel the hurt through the phone, Emma knew when her son would just respond with I love you after asking about his mother, she knew he was feeling useless on the other end.
Her full bladder forced Emma to get up from her very comfortable position. She slowly creeped out from under Regina and slipped out of bed. She smiled, very satisfied that the brunette didn't even move. After she relieved her bladder, she went downstairs to start the coffee and warm up leftovers.
The leftovers were the first thing to finish, she plated the last bit from the tuberware and placed the empty containers in the sink. The coffee was finished shortly after, she mixed the two coffees' just the way each woman liked it. She grabbed Regina's breakfast, leaving hers on the counter like she always did. She turned around and gasped, the plate and mug almost dropping from her hands.
Standing in the doorway of the kitchen stood the beautiful, stunning, yet weak looking, Regina. Emma's mouth dropped open, she couldn't form words, she just stared completely shocked. The woman not only had gotten out of bed, but was standing in the entry way of the kitchen. Emma felt like she was dreaming. She couldn't move, she couldn't speak, she could only stare.
Regina walked towards the blonde, blushing at the women who was staring at her in shock. She's cute when she's shocked. She reached up and grabbed the dishes from the blonde's hands, she smiled and then without even thinking kissed the blonde's cheek, then took one step backwards.
Emma blinked a few times and tilted her head, finally finding the words to speak, "You, you're, you…" Okay maybe not the right words. She cleared her throat, "Um, you're up."
Regina looked at the blonde and for the first time in what felt like a lifetime Regina smirked, the side of her mouth raising slightly, her eyes bright. I owe it all to you. Ugh! Come on Regina speak! Use your damn words! Regina gazed brightly into Emma's eyes, then placed the dishes on the island in the middle of the kitchen. She moved her glance back towards the blonde, moistening her bottom lip with her tongue.
Emma bite her lip as she looked down at the brunette's mouth. Her heart raced as the brunette inched closer to her.
Regina tried to steady her nerves, calming her heart beat. She put a hand on Emma's cheek and ran her thumb over Emma's bottom lip. Regina pushed her body against Emma's, then softly pushed her into the counter. She collided their lips together in a passionate kiss.
Emma moved her hands to the brunette's hips, pulling her even closer to the blonde's body. She moved her hands up Regina's back and laced her fingers in the short hair, deepening the kiss.
Regina moaned into the kiss, and smiled. She pulled away slightly, gazing into the blonde's eyes. "I love you Emma." Finally.
Did she really? Wait, what is happening? Okay, Emma stop. Respond before you lose the moment. Emma smiled back and kissed the side of Regina's mouth. "I love you too."
The two shot apart when they heard a voice from the entry way of the kitchen. "Moms?"
What did you think? I still have ideas flowing for this story, so with that being said, this is not the end! Till next time!
