A/N: Hello wonderful readers! So, you guys were giving me such wonderful feedback and I thank you, and I decided to post the next one! Yay! Also, thanks to AyameKitsune because she/he was the first to review! You are amazing. Lastly, please read the note at the bottom if you want to be sent a preview of a new tragedy fic for ROtG I am working on called War. So without further ado, chapter 4.
Chapter 4: Bunny
Jack stared intensely at his work.
The canvas was dripping with red, gold, and, light blue paint. Like his coloring pencils, he made his own paints, except in a different manner. He would usually just juice a natural source, mix it with water and rubbing alcohol, and solidify it to keep it fresh for his next use.
It had been Easter Day, and Jack felt the urge to paint an Easter Egg. Since Bunny was gone, Jack decided to take his things, steal an egg, and draw it in Bunny's Warren.
It was the perfect opportunity to practice painting a still life painting.
As he stared at it, he was discouraged by its ugliness. In his eyes, the painting looked nothing like the egg. He ripped the canvas off its stand and replaced it. Throwing the canvas near a few other forgotten canvas, he tried again. Using a watery black color he had obtained from the ashes of a fire and had mixed with water, he drew the outline of the Easter Egg. With a golden color from a yellow daisy, he painted designs. Finally, he took his light blue, red, and gold paint to fill in his designs.
As he painted the finishing touches, sweat rolled off his brow. The wind rolled in to relieve the heat, and Jack thanked her, the wind, mentally. He sighed as he stared at his finished work. Again, he ripped it out as well and threw it to the side.
You could guess Bunny's surprise as he entered the warren and heard an infuriated cry from inside. He recognized it as Jack's voice and hurried in. A bit because he was worried, but mostly because he wanted to scold the Guardian. Inside, he was surprised to see Jack ripping a beautiful canvas from its stand and throwing it to a pile of beautiful paintings on one, far side of the room.
"Jack! What do you think you are doing?!" Bunny yelled. A quarter of him wanted to scold Jack for entering his Warren, but most of him wanted to ask Jack if he could keep the paintings. Frankly, he couldn't believe someone as annoying as Jack, could make something so beautiful. The details were exquisite, the color harmony was beautiful, and there was no other word to describe it, as beautiful was quite the under statement. Jack took a deep breath and calmed down. A light dusting of snow had appeared on the Warren's floor. He turned around to see Bunny gaping at the mountain of discarded paintings. "Bunny?" the teen called. Bunny stared at him and struggled to find something to say. "You're wasting canvases!" he said finally. "They're snow canvases. They are made of snow and sealed with frost." Jack said, rolling his eyes and rubbing his face. "See?" He held his arm out and a thick snow rectangle appeared in his hand. He ran his hand all over it and a thin layer of frost was spread over it.
Bunny was once again left speechless by the younger boy's power and creativity. "Well, what are you doing here? It's my Warren, why are you here? Go make your own snow Warren." Bunny finally said after a moment of silence. "You know what? Maybe I will. Thanks Kangaroo!" Jack replied thoughtfully. He snatched his canvas stand, paint jars, and paint brushes, then flew off with the Wind.
"I am not a kangaroo! I am a bunny, the Easter bunny! When are you going to get that, Frosty?!" Bunny yelled to the fellow Guardian. Jack replied with an echoing laugh. The Easter bunny waited a moment before snatching up the paintings and hanging them up on one of his walls. After all, there was no use in wasting good art.
