"When you run into something interesting, drop everything else and study it." –B. F. Skinner
Another day at the office, another day with Little Rose.
A new day with Miles Luna nearly discovering Ruby's existence.
It happened right when Oum left his office door open and Miles bust right into it. Thankfully, Oum's chair covered a fair portion of his body, allowing him to quickly stuff Ruby between his legs. As awkward as putting a tiny creature between one's legs was, it had to be done. Miles quickly asked Monty on random scenario topics for RWBY before departing like the wind.
Oum mentally berated himself for having someone like Miles nearly discover the tiny Ruby. After all, the thought of Miles screaming out of joy and throwing Rose around like a ragdoll sounded horrifying. As much as he liked Miles, he needed to give himself more time if he planned on showing her to other people.
Once Miles left his office, Monty Oum quickly got up to lock the door. As soon as the door made a familiar locking noise, he sighed.
He went back to his chair, finding Ruby rolling down the small "hills" on his seat constructed by his behind. Something about the girl using his butt to have fun on chairs disturbed him, so he quickly plucked her off of the chair and placed on her the table.
For several hours, he worked without resting. Several syntax errors popped up once in a while, only to be solved through simple coding adjustments. The most complicated of problems sometimes had the simplest answers. Oum knew this and used the knowledge to his own advantage.
Time to take a break, he thought as he stretched his arms, remaining seated on the table. Yawning, the animator looked around the table.
…
"…Hm?"
Oum looked around the table a little harder, only to realize that something went missing. Standing up, he dug through some papers, only to find nothing alive.
Where did she go? Oum thought, confused at where the Little Rose went to. He then noticed that one of his cabinets was open.
Through the small gap, he saw Rose roll into the wall of the cabinet before rolling into the depths of the cabinet… only to pop out again.
I see her rollin', yet I'm not hatin', the director of RWBY thought, humored by the sight of Ruby's never-ending journey of rolling around his concept arts. She seemed to love playing around with the concept art sketches. Oum presumed that it had to do with the character herself, seeing how she was planned to have friendly relationships with certain characters such as Weiss Schnee and the rest of her teammates.
That still did not explain why she drew Weiss as a Nevermore with a white ponytail and a freaking rock guitar shaped like a cookie out of all things. Whatever the heck she drew looked like a fusion of a white raven and Ozzy Osborne.
Oum reached out for the cabinet, pulling it open as he revealed the full image of Ruby's eternal journey of rolling around his artwork. Catching her by simply placing a finger in her path, the man watched the tiny girl flinch. When he used two of his fingers to hold her tiny body, she began to squirm in an attempt to roll.
He placed the girl on the worktable, only to have her roll away like a wheel. She got closer and closer to the edge of the worktable, where a trashcan filled with sharp lead-
Oh, SHOOT!
The man leapt towards the trash can, sliding over to it. Pushing the can out of the way, he lifted his two hands to catch the Little Rose. Ruby, however, never stopped rolling. She rolled off his hands, softly landing on the ground as she rolled towards a pile of comic books he had been reading in his breaks.
Hardcover comic books.
Oh, SHOOT!
Picking himself off of the ground, Oum leapt and slid towards the comic books, only to find himself sliding too quickly. Crashing into the comic books, the man stopped abruptly in front of a bookshelf, causing the bookshelf to nearly fall over him. Fortunately for him, a clock that had a power that rivaled Superman stopped the bookshelf from squishing Little Rose.
All of a sudden, he heard the sound of his door opening.
Didn't I just lock that?! Oum screamed internally as he snatched Ruby and stuffed her into his pocket before the door completely opened.
Standing behind the door was Miles Luna, who wore that stupid Scouter helmet and held onto a pair of keys.
"Huh?" Miles said to himself, looking at the keys and then at Oum's room. "I could've sworn this was my room-…"

Miles asked incredulously,
"Why the heck are you doing a French pose underneath a bookshelf that's about to fall on you?"
With a wide grin, Oum answered,
"No reason. Get out of my room."
