"I'm standing here in front of what is left of the renowned Les Beau Cafe where a bomb had gone off late this evening and nearly destroyed the entire cafe. There are reports that two people have been rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries. Ruby Industries had declined our request for an interview.
Clearly this event has shaken the entire city, excitement had circulated the moment Ruby Industries had announced their plan on expanding their business here in Bayville. The cafe had been critically acclaimed and was taking the country by storm. Within their first year of opening in New Orleans they have opened more than a dozen other locations across the country.
They were two days away from their soft opening and a week away from their grand opening. Now with investigations, clean up and rebuilding it's unknown when or even if the cafe will open. This is Sandra Lawerance reporting live on scene. Back to you Bill"
Jean-Luc shut the television off with the remote, he placed it on the table beside him as he watched his sons react to the latest news cast. Remy leaned against the back wall, shuffling cards back and forth as Henri paced from one side of the room to the other while typing furiously into his phone. Jean-Luc cleared his throat, only receiving a glance from either male.
"So fils, what you want to do about this?"
"Pere, there ain't nothing else we can do, we got Etienne, and Theo scouting the area, Lapin's getting any information from our connections and Mercy's running interference at the hospital for Tina while the press is knocking down the poor woman's door. And Rogue," Henri sighed deeply before he began, "There ain't nothing-"
"Don't you dare say it mon frere." Remy growled as the cards in his hands began to light up with his explosive charge.
"Remy relax, we don't need another explosion right now!" Jean-Luc scolded his adopted son.
Remy stepped forward "I know that! What happened was fowl play, and what we need to do is figure out who's behind this and retaliate."
"What good would that do Remy? It ain't gonna bring nothing back!" Henri spoke just as furious.
"It's better than standing around here with our thumbs up our asses."
"That's not what's happening here, we're doing damage control with the press, keeping names out of the papers, giving them the run around and not letting it get farther than it already has. Plus as I just said we have our people doing what they can. Right now we just need to settle our nerves and tomorrow we can come up with a plan of action."
"How can you say that Henri? How can you just stay inside and calm your nerves while Tina's on the operating table and Rogues-" Remy closed his eyes and roughly wiped a hand down his face. "Fuck!" He yelled as he stormed out of the room.
Henri was going to follow after him but his father's words stopped him. "Let him go, this is going to be rough on him, and right now we just need to respect the space he needs. We all deal with tragedy differently, and this is the toughest on Remy." He said as he looked at the door Remy just slammed behind him.

The beeping of the machines seemed to echo throughout the tiny room, Remy stood in the doorway as he surveyed the scene before him. This is the first time he had ever seen her looking so fragile, so small. Deep bags formed under her eyes, her arms were purple and blue, and her head was bandaged up. Since they had to do surgery on the side of her head, he knew she would hate that they shaved her hair to do it.
He had just gotten the call that she was out of surgery, when he stormed out of the room with his dad and brother. He hadn't immediately rushed over because he couldn't decide if he should, or if he could handle the situation, but in his heart he knew he had to be here even if it was just for a few minutes.
Taking a deep breath he walked further into the room and took a seat beside the bed, he leaned back and just watched as she slept. The nurse had told him that there was a chance she wouldn't wake up for a few hours due to the anesthesia, but he just needed to check on her, make sure she was okay.
He closed his eyes as he leaned back in his chair, just listening to the beeping. He must have fallen asleep because Mercy was shaking him awake with a coffee in her hand.
"Remy, you didn't have to come. The doctor's said she's going to be ok." she said as she took the seat beside him.
"Remy know, it's just I figured I should come check on her." He stretched his arms out in front of him as he looked at the clock on the wall. "Merde! Is it really two in the morning?"
"Mhm, time seems to be flying tonight. Really Remy, you didn't need to come here, I got this covered."
"I know, it's just I know that Rogue would have wanted me to check on her. Let me know when she wakes up, we need to find out if she saw anything funny when she was coming to the cafe." He said as he bent to give her a kiss on the top of her head.
"Oui, I know Remy. Have you figured out what we do next?" She asked with tears in her eyes.
He closed his eyes briefly before opening them again. "Non, not yet. I'm going to head back over there, I'll call you as soon as something's decided." He squeezed her hand as she nodded her head, he then exited Tina's hospital room.
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
"I can't do anything further for her here Remy, I'm truly sorry." Remy's fists began to glow at his sides as he tried to reign in his emotions.
"Dr. McCoy, Remy called you here so you could DO something for her! Please, you have to help her." He pleaded as he smoothed Rogue's hair from her face.
"Please, call me Hank, and I did everything I could for her here and I know there is more that can be done but this lab isn't equipped for that extensive treatment. I'm sorry."
Remy placed a kiss upon her forehead, willing himself to be strong for her. He understood what Hank was telling him, but it didn't mean he liked hearing it.
When he placed the call to Hank's direct line he knew it was a long shot that he would be able to do anything but he had to try. They had already contacted Warren, who had been one of their original investors and long time supporter to request a favor.
Remy knew the man had a medical room for treating mutants in his father's building. Since Warren's dad was still against mutants while hiding his son's true identity, he made sure he had a private area to take care of Warren whenever he needed treatment.
He was in the parking garage ready with a stretcher when Remy had arrived with Rogue, Jean-Luc was driving while he sat in the back with her and Henri had ridden shot gun. They knew they were risking further injury to Rogue by moving her, but it's not like they could bring her to a civilian hospital while not knowing if her powers would manifest.
The blue doctor had arrived minutes after they had, and respected their request of discretion so he had come alone and hadn't informed anyone of his true reason for going out. When he had gotten the call he had briefly wondered how Remy had gotten his private number, but that thought was immediately replaced by the fact that Rogue needed immediate medical attention.
When he had entered the room she was already on the examination table, with Remy the only one in the room placing electrodes underneath Rogues shirt to monitor her heart rate as Hank had requested earlier. He examined Rogue as thoroughly as possible with Remy's help and came to the conclusion that she had a broken elbow, which he had wrapped in a cast and placed in a sling. He also concluded that she was suffering from a concussion, and the cut along her hairline needed stitches, which he did efficiently.
He had even been able to run a standard blood test on her but nothing explained the cause of her losing her powers.
"Remy are you sure she was trying to call her powers maybe she was too exhausted to realize what was happening. You did say she was only conscious for a brief amount of time."
"With all due respect Doc, but Remy know her better than he knows the back of his hand and if she had access to her powers we wouldn't be here right now. She knew what she was talking about before she blacked out. She has been through worse scrapes than this and was able to pull through because of her powers. Something happened to her and we need to help her."
"I know Remy, and I understand, but in order to do everything possible to help her I'm going to have to bring her back to the mansion."
"That's what I was afraid of."
