Nami

Today marks the seventh day of my stay in the Sirius, which means I've been here for a week now. I honestly didn't think I would manage to stay in a pirate ship or even getting along quite well with pirates. I have mixed emotions being here, I'm afraid, nervous and unexpectedly...happy.

I was doing the laundry while the Sirius was having their meeting. I wasn't a part of the Sirius so naturally, I am not included in any of their meetings. I was to hang and do the laundry to a place where they can still watch over me.

I now carry around a water bottle that Christopher gave to me. I learnt my lesson the hard way. The sun rays hit directly to me, it almost felt like I was burning alive. The only good thing about the weather was that the laundry would dry faster.

I was singing a song my mother had taught me when she was still alive. She said that my grandmother had taught it to her too. The song has a very nice tune and a very nice message. Whenever I sing it, I remember my loving mother who had taught me such great things. It was a shame she wasn't around anymore. If she was around, maybe none of the things that happened wouldn't have happened.

I felt tears forming around my eyes. I looked up to the sky and took a deep breath to stop my tears from falling. For me, tears were a sign of weakness. That's what my father had always told me. Never let anyone, especially your enemies see you falling. Although no one was around, it had become a habit of mine to prevent crying.

Once I felt that I wasn't on the verge of crying anymore, I stood up straight, closed my eyes, took a deep breath once more and continued doing my task.

I started whistling random notes while doing the laundry. It takes my mind off of the heat a bit. Birds started to fly towards me. It wasn't a rare sight. It seems like creatures on earth are fond of mermaids. On of the bird was resting on the top of my head. Though I can feel it on top of my head, the bird wasn't to heavy for discomfort. Another one of the bird flew to my left shoulder. Its soft feathered wings tickled my cheek when it landed on my shoulder. The birds where whistling too as if they were joining me.

The other birds were resting on the rope I was using to hang the laundry. While most birds seem to be with a similar species, I noticed a different kind of bird mixing among them. It's feathers were black and its eyes were the color of blood. It was a crow. There was a very tiny bag hanging around his body. It looked a bit scary but it seemed to enjoy my whistling.

I held out my hand for the black bird. It flew toward it and rested on my arms. I slowly reached my had to the tiny bag and opened it. Inside it was a piece of paper, from the looks of it, it seemed like it was some kind of letter.

Just as the door opened violently, the birds including the crow flew away immediately. It was the Captain who had opened the door. He was looking at the piece of paper in my hand as he said:

"What is it?"

I handed him the piece of paper. He took it from my hand and read the contents of it out loud.

"Help! Shipwrecked on an island near the Tropic of Cancer. A dangerous creature protecting the island had destroyed our ship. If you are willing to rescue us, we will give you 3/4 of the treasure we found on the island."

"Are we going, Captain?" Russell asked.

I didn't realize that the crew already gathered around.

"Don't be stupid. What if there wasn't really any treasures?" Eduardo said in an annoyed voice.

Eduardo has a point. For all we know this treasure might be made up.

I looked at Morgan and waited for him to respond.

He was thinking deeply.

"Okay. I've decided I'm going to research about this place first. I'll be in my study. Don't act on anything before I give orders. Understood?"

"Aye, Captain." We all replied.

He turned his back and walked to his study. The crew just began on doing their daily task and I continued hanging the laundry.

It was exactly lunch time when I finished the laundry. I head for the dining room to find everyone but Morgan sitting and eating. I sat beside Thomas and began to eat.

"Where's the Captain?" I asked.

"Dunno, maybe he's still in his study." Russell replied.

"Oh.."

I finished my meal and head to the kitchen. I grabbed a tray then fill it with plate, for and spoon and a cup. I filled the cup with water and placed food on the plate. I grabbed the tray then head to the Captain's study.

I knocked.

"Come in." A voice said.

I hold the tray with my right hand and open the door with my other hand. I saw liquor bottles all around the place and a drunk Captain sitting on a chair filled with books.

"I thought you were researching about the island?"

"I was. Found tons about it." The drunk Captain said.

"Oh, what did you find out."

"Well, there'sss a whooole looot of treaaaasurre in it but there's a humongous and super dangerous creature near it. But we're going because we're strrroong!"

I sighed.

"Make sure to think about it once more when you are sober." I said to him.

"But...!"

Hmm?

"I'm never sober!"

I chuckled.

"Well then when you are less drunk."

I looked around and found a place to put the tray on.

"I brought you lunch. Figured you'll be hungry since you haven't eaten yet."

He looked at me with teary eyes.

"Thank you! *sniff If it was the guys they wouldn't care and wouldn't notice I've probably died of starvation. *sniff"

He crushed me with a big hug. He was very warm and this hug would've felt nice if he wasn't trying to crush me to death and if he didn't reek of alcohol. I tried to wiggle out of his hug but his hands around me were like unbreakable chains.

"Hey.. I can't breath. Let go of me."

I felt his hug lighten a bit allowing me to breath.

"Seriously. Let go of me you pervert."

I tried to push him away but it didn't do anything. I'm feeling really taken advantage of.

He looked down to me and his brown eyes pierced right through my eyes. I could feel his warm booze-smelling breath brush my neck. His face was getting closer and closer to mine.

I tried to keep calm and composed but I can feel my patience slowly flowing away.

I pulled back my head and then head-butted Morgan. His arms were no longer around me. Morgan was now lying in the floor, unconscious.

"That's what you get for messing with me, you perverted captain."
