Chapter 4
One night the Titans received a distress signal that Slade was terrorizing the downtown area. Kakashi, still unsure how to use Kamui to transport himself back the Ninja World, joined the Titans. In the middle of Jump City, police were trying their best to subdue Slade. Officers would try to pin him down but Slade kept dodging their feeble attempts at handcuffing him. "You'll have to do better than that." Muttered Slade as the officers were felled by his potent kicks. Sensing their presence Slade wheeled around to face the Titans. "Ah, young Robin and others." He narrowed his eye and chillingly grinned at them from beneath his mask.
"Hey, not cool dude!" Beast Boy snapped. "We have names too you know."
"Please, I only acknowledge those who are my equals."
"Grr! What did you say tin man?!" Before Beast Boy could make another comment Kakashi held his hand out in front of him.
"Don't let him provoke you. If you let your emotions take control of you you'll surely lose." Admitting his mistake Beast Boy took a step back.
"Hmm, I don't believe we've met before." Slade addressed Kakashi.
"We have not."
"Are you here to try and stop me too?" A confident Slade sneered. Suddenly a hand broke through the asphalt and latched onto Slade's thigh. "Pointless." Slade grunted. "Kamui!" He sent Kakashi's clone to the other dimension.
'That technique, it's the same one I possess.' Kakashi recognized. "Where is Obito Uchiha now? I know that's who you acquired that eye from."
"The person known as Obito Uchiha no longer exists." Slade relayed calm as ever.
"He's dead?"
"I first encountered the Sharingan when I was still a mercenary. That visual power was unrivaled. The Uchiha defeated me in a matter of seconds. It was after my defeat that I vowed to obtain that kind of power for myself. I constructed a device that would allow me to create a wormhole connecting my hideout here in Jump City to the Ninja World. I patiently bided my time waiting for a unique Sharingan to awaken and I found it. At the time I did not know its specific abilities but soon it evolved and I gained even greater powers."
'He was able to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan on his own.' Kakashi was astonished by this feat.
"I can bend space to my whim and transport anything I want at will. When I first implanted the eye my stamina would be sapped rapidly because my body was not compatible with the eye but I solved that problem. Using a forbidden jutsu I merged his body with my own. Now that I have Uchiha blood and DNA I no longer feel the effects of the Sharingan or the Mangekyō Sharingan for that matter."
"The Mangekyō Sharingan? What is that?" Raven asked Kakashi.
"It's the level beyond a normal Sharingan. When a person who possesses the Sharingan feels the grief of losing someone close to them the Sharingan becomes even more powerful. No two Mangekyō are the same each has its own distinct ability." Kakashi explained.
"I think its clear you're outmatched. Surrender to me and I promise to be merciful." Slade attempted to reason with the Titans and Kakashi.
"Never! Titans, Go!" Ordered Robin. The five teens split up and attack Slade from all sides. Beast Boy transformed into a kangaroo. He kicked at Slade but using his Sharingan, or even without the Sharingan, Slade dodged each of Beast Boy's kicks. Slade delivered a clean punch to Beast Boy sending him back. Cyborg tried to punch Slade but he flipped over Cyborg and grabbing him by the shoulder, Slade performed a perfect takedown. Robin tried using his staff but Slade swatted the thrusts and swings away. Slade then grasped the staff and threw it along with Robin over his head. Starfire's starbolts found their mark but did little damage to Slade. He wove some hand signs and then cupped his left hand around his mouth. "Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!" A massive fireball emerged from Slade's mouth.
"Water Style: Water Shark Bullet Jutsu!" Kakashi countered with a Water Style jutsu. The two jutsu of opposite natures canceled each other out.
"I wonder how many jutsu you've copied with that eye of yours?" Slade asked studying Kakashi's eye.
"Over a thousand but I prefer to use my own techniques." Kakashi wove the signs for Lightning Blade. "Lightning Blade!" Kakashi charged Slade. Slade used Kamui to transport his entire body away.
"No you don't, Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" Raven created a barrier around Slade but it was too late he had already left.
"We'll get him next time." Promised Robin.
"With his Mangekyō Sharingan he'll be a tough opponent to beat." Kakashi informed Robin. "What bothers me is what he did to acquire that power. He desecrated Obito's honor as a shinobi and there is no way in hell I'm going to let him get away with committing such a heinous offense." Kakashi had a bloodthirsty look in his gaze.
"Yeah, we're going to pound that creep into mashed potatoes." Beast Boy punched his palm.
"Right. For now let's head back to the tower and come up with a strategy on how to beat Slade." Robin led the rest of the Titans and Kakashi back to the tower.
