It was 10:00 pm at the New York Institute and night had already fallen on the city. Isabelle, passed in her bedroom. She was worried. Alec and Jace should have already been back by now. Oh how frustrated at her brother for not letting her go on this mission. Clary sat on Izzy's bed trying to calm her down, but at this point, only news of her brother's return could calm her.
"Izzy, I'm sure Alec and Jace are fine." Clary said as she drew in her sketchbook, "They are the best fighters we have, they can handle themselves."
"Clary," Isabelle said, stopping for a moment to look at the fiery redhead sitting on her bed, "They were supposed to be back over 3 hours ago." Suddenly a piece of paper appeared on Izzy's desk. It looked as though it was burnt with sections of the edges singed. Izzy walked over to it and opened the letter. It was from Meliorn. "Clary," Izzy said, sitting on the edge of her bed as she read the message to herself. Clary peered over her shoulder to read it.
"Isabelle, I know that sending this message is dangerous, but I had to let you know. Don't let anyone know what I'm going to tell you." Clary read quietly sitting next to Izzy, "Valentine is here, in the Seelie Court, he wants Jace. He's coercing him into joining his army by using Alec." Clary saw a tear slip down Izzy's cheek. The thought of Jace and Alec being used by Valentine in his sick game made Clary furious. "Don't trust Sebastian." Clary flipped over the message to see if there was a back, but there wasn't.
"I should have gone with them," Izzy said stand up and walking over to her dresser to grab her hunting gear.
"And if you had, you may have also been taken by Valentine." Clary grabbed her stele and put on her black denim jacket. "We know who the spy is-"
"But we can't do anything," Izzy said, walking over to where Clary stood. "If we arrest Sebastian for being the mole. Valentine will know that someone is helping us, and would put Jace and Alec in more danger."
"Okay, so what do we do?"
"I'll say we are going to Magnus to talk about some demons, not many people know about Alec and Magnus' breakup." Izzy grabbed her bracelet and pulled it on. "Maybe Magnus can help us after all he knows the Seelie Queen." Clary and Izzy walked out of the bedroom and down the halls to the front door. Shadowhunters were all busy at work and didn't have time to notice the two girls start to leave.
"Hey, Clary! Isabelle!" A voice they knew all too well said, walking up behind them, the mole himself. Sebastian."Where are you off to?"
"We are meeting Alec and Jace at Magnus'." Izzy said in her natural voice, "On there way out of the Seelie court; they were attacked by some shax demons. Alec got hurt and is at Magnus' healing."
"Do you mind if I join you?" Sebastian said as he walked closer to the girls, "I've been bored out of my mind all day."
"Sorry, but what the Seelie Queen had to say, was top secret and only a handful of people were to know about it." Izzy grabbed Clary's arm and started to pull her towards the door.
"You trust Magnus and not me? He's not even a shadowhunter."
"He's Alec's boyfriend. And he is one of our most trusted allies. I'm sorry Sebastian, but you can't come." Izzy and Clary ran out of the door, not wanting to talk to Sebastian anymore. It was because of Sebastian Alec, and Jace were caught.
"Nice cover-up," Clary said as they ran down the street to the warlocks Brooklyn apartment. "Do you think Sebastian knows about Alec and Jace being captured?"
"Probably, but the sooner we rescue my brother and Jace, the better. Before we left, I grabbed a shirt from Alec's room. Hopefully, Magnus will be able to track him with it."
" Will Magnus be able to track in the Seelie Court?"
"I hope so." Izzy and Clary took off sprinting down the street.
Izzy banged on the warlocks door for 2 minutes before a very frustrated Magnus opened the door.
"What do you want?" Magnus said as he sipped his martini. He was dressed in a blue shirt and black pants. "I told your brother never to bother me again."
"Magnus!" Izzy said as she put her foot in the door when he tried to close it. "I know you are hurt, that my brother lied to you, but Valentine has Jace and Alec. We need your help finding them."
"It will cost you." Magnus opened the door and allowed Clary and Isabelle to enter the apartment. "How did Valentine get to your brother and Jace? I thought they weren't that stupid to let both of them get caught."
"The Seelie Queen wanted to meet with Jace, and Alec went along with him." Clary said as she sat down on Magnus' couch, "The Seelies are working with Valentine."
"Magnus, they're using my brother to get Jace to join him," Izzy stated abruptly. Clary had always admired Isabelle's control of her emotions, but now she was a wreck. She was worse than when her brother was close to dying. "I shouldn't have let him go on the mission. He's been a wreck since you, and he broke up."
Magnus felt sorry for Isabelle but didn't know if he could even track someone in the Seelie realm. His magic flew from his hands in blue ribbons as he used the spell to trace Alec. Nothing. Magnus couldn't feel Alec. It felt like he had never existed. The Seelies must have to know that they would try to track them.
"I'm sorry, Isabelle, but the Seelies must have known you would try to look for them." Magnus said handing back the shirt to a very disappointed Clary, "But I will talk to every downworlder willing to help. Hopefully, someone knows something. How did you even discover that it was the Seelie Queen who took your brother?"
"Meliorn, he risked his life to send a message," Clary said, putting her arm around Izzy. "Hopefully Valentine doesn't know about the message."
"We have to tell the Clave." Was all Isabelle could say. She wiped the tears from her eyes. Clary thought she saw a little bit of Alec in her. The way she was carrying herself now. "We have to tell the Inquisitor of what happened and show her the fire message."
"Magnus, can you portal us to Idris?" Clary asked as she and Isabelle stood up.
"I can but how do you know she is willing to help?"
"Jace is her grandson; she would do anything to help him."
"One portal coming up." Magnus used his magic to summon a portal. Clary watched as the magic shimmered goldenly. "I'll try to get help from all the downworlders I can."
"Thank you, Magnus." Clary and Isabelle walked through the portal. Magnus wanted to hate Alec, but he couldn't. He too had been a mess since the breakup.
"Don't worry, Alexander. I'm going to find you."
