Hey! I am so sorry it has taken me so long to update this story! I will try to work harder at being better at updating. Don't worry though I plan to finish any story I start and not to leave any unfinished. I do not want to leave any readers unsatisfied or upset. That being said please be patient and know that the story will get finished, even if it takes years. Anyway I hope you enjoy this chapter. It is a little short so I will try to make the next one longer. Thanks for reading.
I do not own W.I.T.C.H. or any of it's characters.
Somewhere in Meridian:
The door to her cell opening and Prince Phobos entering the room interrupted Cornelia's 156th possible escape plan. Immediately Cornelia sat up getting ready to protect herself from what ever harm Prince Phobos had planned for her, be it mental, emotional or physical pain. However, she was surprised when Prince Phobos simply walked up to her and crouched down to gently cup her now bruised cheek with his hand.
"Such a shame to bruise such beautiful skin." He murmured looking first at the bruise and then lifting his eyes to meet Cornelia's. Cornelia flinched trying to move out of his hand but his grip tightened.
"You are so beautiful." He said his eyes looking crazed, "So beautiful and so powerful. You are the strongest out of all of those guardians and could easily destroy them all. Why don't you? Why do you let them control you?"
"Because they are my friends. Something you do not have." Cornelia said glaring at him and forcefully pulling her face from his grip shuffling further away from him.
"But you are so powerful. Together you and I could be unstoppable! Think about it. We could rule this world. We could rule all worlds." Prince Phobos said glaring at her with anger, "But instead you chain yourself with those weak pathetic guardians and rebel leader. Which is something I will never understand. You could do so much better than that scum of a rebel leader. He has not powers and is simply a weak being that must depend on his own physical strength to survive. Why be with that weakling when you who is so powerful could be with someone like me, one of equal strength and power. One who understands your power and wants to help you to better understand how to use it. We would make sense together. We would work together. But instead you go with that rebel leader! Why are you with him when all the fates point how you should be with me."
Cornelia angered sat up taller and lifted her chin in defiance towards Prince Phobos glaring and growled out, "Because he loves me and I love him. He is not weak. He is strong, stronger than you ever will be. He is brave and able to lead his people and do good, while all you did was terrorize them and do harm. You were simply a bully that had power over others and used it against them. Caleb treats them like equals. He is such a better man than you are, then you ever could be."
"You do not understand!" Prince Phobos exclaimed slamming his fist into the wall near her face, "I do love you. You are the most beautiful being I have ever seen. And I did do good, you just do not understand the good I did."
"The good you did!" Cornelia yelled at him her eyes wide, "And what good was that!"
"I put those people in their place." Phobos growled his eyes narrowing, "I kept the scum in their rightful place. I made sure that everything remained that way it should and with you we can do that again."
"No." Cornelia said shaking her head, "I refuse to be a part of enslaving people. I refuse. Those people deserve to be free. Free to speak out and a part of making decisions that will affect them. You had no right to control them. You would try to control me too wouldn't you?"
"I would never try to control you!" Phobos said outraged, "I know that once I am able to convince you that you will be able to make the right decisions. I love that about you. You will not disappoint me. You are powerful and love that power."
"You're wrong." Cornelia said chuckling and shaking her head giving Phobos a smirk, "I do not love my powers, I love my team and my friends and Caleb. If it would protect them I would give those powers up so fast. I would do anything for them. I would do anything for the people of Meridian as well. If I knew that in order to defeat you and prevent them from being enslaved and terrorized was to give up my powers, I would do it in a heartbeat. Do not doubt me. You do not love me, but rather the power I hold." SMACK! Phobos' hand connected with Cornelia's cheek again causing her head to whip to the side and her to see stars. Groaning Cornelia lifted and hand up to her cheek feeling the skin already begin to rise and whipped the blood from the corner of her mouth glaring at Phobos. Phobos on the other had was shaking with anger and grabbed her shoulders shaking her and screamed, "Why do you not understand! We could be amazing together! We could take on the world together! I do love you! I love your power and see your true beauty!" Then he let go of her and roughly shoved her to the ground standing up to tower over her a look of pure hatred and anger on his face.
"I will get you to understand. I have just gotten you and I do not plan on letting you go, ever." He growled, "I will keep you forever, but first I must get rid of those annoying friends of yours, especially that rebel leader." Cornelia's blood turned cold and her eyes widened in fear for her friends.
"What are you talking about?" She said her hands shaking; "You said you would let me go after getting the kingdom from Elyon. You can't break your promise like that!" Prince Phobos just smiled an evil smile at Cornelia and brought his foot back before slamming it forcefully into her side.
"Ah but love, did you not say that I do no good. And wouldn't telling the truth be a good?" He said smirking at Cornelia as she curled into a ball her arms wrapping around her aching side, "Thus it would not make sense to keep my promise. Don't want go against your views of me." With that Prince Phobos turned heading back to the door of the cell only to hesitate before leaving looking back over his shoulder making eye contact with Cornelia.
"Sorry love but apparently I can not get you to understand with them being alive. They are distractions. So they must be eliminated. Once they are gone I'm sure I will be able to get you to see the right in my ways and we will become a team. However, that will have to wait because I have a rebel leader and some guardians to deal with. Don't worry thought; I will be back to see you soon. And when I do you will know that they are gone." With that Prince Phobos left slamming the door behind him. Cornelia lay on the ground waiting for the pain to ease off and contemplating escape plan 157th, while trying to determine a way to save her friends at the same time. Then it hit her! She had to act like she believed Phobos. Get him to think he had her. Then she could save her friends and maybe get out of this damn cell. But what would she do after that? And how could she get Phobos to come to tell him she understood him. Then it clicked, tears. It took a few tries but eventually water was streaking down her cheeks and she was making tiny whimpers. Suddenly the door creaked open and Prince Phobos came in a satisfied smile on his face.
"Am I to assume you have begun to understand?" He said his eyes drinking in the tears on Cornelia's face. Cornelia only nodded her head whipping her hands against her cheeks acting like she did not want Phobos to see her tears. Phobos walked forward and lifted his hand to clear her cheeks of tears and smiled.
"I'm glad you understand." He said happiness shining from his face, "Love we will be amazing." Then he lead forward and brushed his lips on Cornelia's cheek. It took everything Cornelia had to not flinch away from the contact. Oh how she hoped that this plan worked, but just in case she was already thinking about plan 158.
