Rose was a Seventh Year and was dating Hutten McLaggen. About two months into their relationship she began to get suspisious. He was sneaking aroud, spending less and less time with her. You should not cheat on the woman whose family basically populates half of Hogwarts. Hutten soon learned this fact.
Rose asked James to do some digging around and found Hutten was most definitely not 'The Man' for Rose or the two other girls he had on the side. The things they did to him when they found out would terrify even a serial killer. Hutten may still be living but he is scarred in places the girls made sure no woman would ever want to see again.
