Chapter 4

Enjoy!

Legolas closed his eyes feeling the prick of the dirty orc sword against his neck. His last sight would not be of an orc grinning at him. The prince made peace with death, not accepting it but thinking it would come for him very soon.

Legolas took a deep breath waiting for the final blow that would end his immortal life. Suddenly, he heard the clashing of metal, and he opend his eyes.

The orc that was about to decapitate the prince lay dead on the ground, an elven arrow imbedded in his back.

The shock on the orcs faces mirrored Legolas's, only they were afraid. Thank Valvar, Legolas thought.

Legolas's sight has blurred and all he knew was that he had to get out of here while he still had the chance.

The elf heard the clinging of metal on metal, but all he could see were the brown forms of masses of orcs. He then saw an orc coming towards him, sword drawn.

Legolas tried to get up but his arms would not allow that and he fell back onto the ground with a thud. Swallowing his pride, Legolas crawler across the ground, looking behind him only to see, to his despair that the orc was gaining on him.

Legolas looked up and saw a shadow stretching over his body. He rolled to the right, wincing in pain at the added pressure on his left arm. A few inches away from his head, a sword lay imbedded into the earth. Legolas shuddered knowing that could have easily sent him into the Halls of Mandos. He had to get this orc away from him, but how he had no weapons?

Before he could finish his train of thought the sword plummeted towards the prince yet again. This time scrapping his cheek before landing in the ground.

Legolas had no more time to think and he forced himself to crawl away from the orc, it seemed the foul creature was going to come after the firstborn yet again, determined to kill the prince. Before it could take another step the foul orc was cut short by an elven arrow.

The dead orc fell heavily on top of Legolas, completely knocking the air of the wood elf. Black spots filled his eyes threatening to drag him into unconsciousness. But the elf's strong will prevailed, and he managed to squirm out from under the orc. Exhausted but all the same.

Legolas crawled as far as his arms would take him, before they wavered from under him and he collapsed, hitting his head hard on the forest floor.

A blurry figure approached the wounded elf.

"No, get away from me orc," slurred Legolas, willing his arms and legs to move. He could no longer control his body and he sunk down onto the ground.

The princes exhaustion seemed to take over forcing him to breath deeply, he refused to cower in front of the figure and couldn't force himself to move any further.

The figure walked over until standing directly on top of Legolas, the prince tried to tell the being to get away from him but he couldn't form words.

Black spots danced in front of the elf's eyes and this time he couldn't restrain from them, as they swallowed him into oblivion, leaving him defenseless against whom ever was looking down upon him.

Aragorn who was battling furiously was determined to locate his friend. He pivoted on his heels yanking his swords out of an orcs chest and into another's.

The ranger located his friend and to his dismay found an orc looming over him. Aragorn desperate to help his friend rushed towards him only to be blocked by a ferocious looking orc.

Aragorn yelled at the top of his lungs, praying that Elrhoirs elven hearing would pick up his shouts, for his brother to look his way, and shoot the orc that was after his blond friend.

He prayer to valvar that his brother heard him, and turned to deal with the beast in front of him. The orc was giant, with a spiked club held tightly in his right hand. Aragorn deciding to use the orcs slow speed against him, slid under the orcs legs, darting behind the creature. The ranger cut him on the arm, watching as the orc staired, horrified at the black blood gushing from where his arm used to be.

Aragorn turned, leaving the orc to his agony, to find his friend. He located the blond elf, and quickly caught up to his crawling friend. Slicing his way thorough crowds of orcs, Aragorn rushed over to Legolas's side only to hear the elf, tell him to get away. To his dismay, Aragorn realized how badly Legolas was slurring his words and that he thought that the ranger was an orc.

He bent down to talk to Legolas, but to his horror the elf had passed out. Aragorn shook the wood elf, gently at first then harder, begging him to wake up, they had to leave. When Legolas did not wake, Aragorn carefully picked up the elf, and whispered, Tolo dan na ngalad, mellon-nin.

(Come back to the light my friend).

Aragorn turned, feeling guilty about leaving his brothers to deal with the orcs, but it had to be done, he had to get Legolas to safety and tend to his wounds.

With that the ranger rushed into the forest, carrying his injured friend.

I didn't end on a cliffie! Yay! At least Aragorn and Legolas are back together! Maybe I am not pure evil. :)
