Hello everyone out there. Guess what? That's right, Fairy's back. I can't tell you how sorry I am that I haven't posted in years but I went through a phase where (now, don't kill me...) I didn't like Fairy Tail anymore. Of course, I couldn't stay away because of the sentimental value it has for me and now I've returned to my gateway anime.
Here's the long awaited second chapter of OCLALS, hope you enjoy. I don't own Fairy Tail or it's characters, all rights go to Hiro Mashima.
Also I'd like to add that I began writing this after the Grand Magic Games so there will be spoilers in this story if you haven't reached that part HOWEVER I also will not include any canon beyond that point in the timeline.
The dragon slayer stared at the new arrival in shock and Lucy just stared back at him. The silence stretched out as Laxus processed the sudden appearance of the blonde Celestial mage.
"What are you doing here?" he asked bluntly. Lucy felt a frown pull down her cheeks.
"I have as much a right to be here as you do, Laxus," she growled. Laxus held up his hands in apology, he'd never seen her as angry as she was today.
"Sorry, sorry," he apologised hurriedly. "I wasn't expecting anyone." He knelt down to the campfire, stirring the pot of stew he was cooking in the midday sun.
"Enough there for two?" Lucy smiled, shining her eyes at the large man, trying to convince him to give her some lunch.
"Hell no," he grumbled. "You gotta earn your food around here, Blondie."
"Tch." Lucy sat on the grass and started unpacking her bags. She pulled out a tent and unrolled the canvas from around the poles. "Instructions...in-struc-tions."
"Can't you pitch a tent, Blondie?" Laxus slagged as Lucy struggled with the poles. She blushed and glared at him.
"Of course I can!" she growled, she slid the poles through the canvas. The fabric stretched as she bent the poles to fix into the ground. "See? I can." She grinned at Laxus, quite proud of herself before he smirked and chuckled. The poles retracted from the pull of the canvas, flicking up straight and flinging the tent up over the trees and off into the distance. Lucy stared after it, wondering how physics allowed such a flimsy material shoot through the air like a bullet.
"Nice job, Blondie," Laxus chuckled, tending to his stew. Lucy rounded on him, temper flaring and light flickering around her clenched fists She grabbed a key from her belt, holding it tight in her hand as she chanted a short spell.
"Open, gate of the Lion! Regulus Beam!"
A beam of light shot towards Laxus from the hand she'd clenched the key in. A soft growl reached her ears, growling from a grumble into a roar.
"You wanna go, Blondie?" Laxus yelled at the celestial mage.
"Bring it, Spark Plug!" Lucy yelled back and Laxus ran towards her, lightning crackling around his body.
"Open, gate of the Golden Bull! Taurus!"
The bull spirit appeared in front of Lucy with his axe raised high, chopping down on Laxus who dodged the hit, disappearing into the trees at the edge of the clearing.
"Open, gate of the Ram! Wool Bomb!"
Aries' pink wool expanded from Lucy and filled the clearing. Lucy held Aries' key tightly and whispered a silent plea. "Aries, is there a way to see though you wool?"
Yes, Miss Lucy, sorry. Use the Spirit Sensor spell to see celestial signatures, sorry.
Lucy thanked Aries and returned her key to her belt. In the chaos of the appearance of the wool, Taurus had returned to the spirit world and Lucy was afraid to summon another spirit in case Laxus noticed her position.
"You think obscuring my vision will stop me, Blondie?" Laxus chuckled, she couldn't pinpoint his voice. He appeared behind her, lips by her ear and whispered. "Never underestimate a dragon's nose."
And, just as suddenly as he'd appeared, he was gone. He's toying with me! Lucy scowled, preparing to cast her new spell, whispering the incantation.
"Survey the land through mine yes
Souls and magic become light
Celestial realm, lend me your power
Allow me to see in the dark
Spirit Sensor!"
Opening her eyes, the world around her exploded in colour. Aries' pink magic signature floated through the air where her wool was and a soft green glow of natural magic was riddled through the ground of Tenrou island. Lucy turned her head around sharply, searching for him. The golden glow she spotted fizzled with power, slinking along the edge of the clearing. Detaching Fleuve d'Étoiles from her belt, the whip came alive and slithered towards Laxus' ankle.
"Blondie!" Laxus yelled as he was pulled across the clearing, the rush of wind dissipating the wool as Lucy threw him straight into his stew.
"Oh...shit."
Laxus blinked, meat and sauce covering him from head to toe, the pot perched precariously on his head. He raised his head and the pot clattered to the ground. He smirked devilishly.
"You're going to pay for that, Blondie," he whisper as he stood up, swaying towards her with his glare trained on her fearful gaze.
"Master sent me to train with you," she squeaked, hands guarding her face as she backed up into a tree. Laxus' eyes narrowed and he stepped up closer, using his enormous figure to trap her against the tree.
"Training begins now."
Lucy inhaled a sharp breath at the warmth surrounding her, fanning over her skin. It was just like him. And the, just like him, it was gone.
"You're cooking lunch!"
Lucy peaked through her tightly squeezed eyelids. The clearing was empty apart from her and a dead campfire.
"I guess it's time to go hunting."
Laxus's body crashed into the ground at the base of the Tenrou tree, flitting from lightning to human form. That damn, Blondie and her friggin' doe eyes. Laxus growled in his head. Why in the name of Mavis have you pushed her off on me, Gramps? Don't you remember what I did to her?
He pushed his way into the tent nestled in the roots of the tree and lay down on the soft mattress. The tent was huge with a double mattress, a wash basin and a trunk. Clothes spilled out onto the floor but Laxud ignored the mess.
Blondie's stronger than I expected, he thought absently.
"She's stronger than anyone expected."
"Gah," Laxus sat up suddenly and glared at the petite figure intruding in his tent. "First, what have I told you about privacy?"
"Hehe, sorry Laxy," Mavis smiled sweetly, annoying the dragon slayer with her cute nickname for him. "But things have gotten interesting."
"How so?" Laxus threw his clothes untidily back into his trunk in an effort to make it tidier for Master Mavis.
"Third has just informed me that Lucy will be participating in the S Class trials in six months," Mavis grinned happily at the thought of the bubbly blonde being a top tier guild mage.
"You want me to train her, don't you?" Laxus groaned. This was going to be a huge interruption to his own training.
"No, I want you to train with her," Mavis explained. "You two have a lot you can learn from each other."
"Ha, like I can learn anything from that Rookie," Laxus laughed at first's suggestion but found himself on the receiving ends of one of her adorable glares. "Fine, but I'm warning you, this isn't going to end well."
"Thank you, Laxus," Mavis smiled. "I'm counting on you."
"Yeah, yeah," Laxus smiled back despite his efforts to hold a stoic face. "You owe me."
"Laxus!"
Mavis disappeared at the shout waving to Laxus as her ghost dissolved. Rubbing his eyes, he walked out of the tent. Lucy stood outside, her spirit, Capricorn, beside her holding a huge monster.
"Is this edible?"
"Does it look edible, Blondie?" Laxus bit back sarcastically. "It's friggin' blue!"
"Well, I'm sorry, but the only source of meat I can find on this godforsaken island is monsters!" Lucy yelled back, both tempers flaring, magical power swelling around them until Laxus broke it off.
"Whatever, Blondie," he scowled, walking away. "I'll show you where to find food." He walked into the trees and Lucy blinked, watching him go.
"Hey, wait!" She sprinted after him. Capricorn stood there, watching the disappearing figure of his master before dropping the beast he was carrying with a thud and following silently.
Mavis sat in the branches of a tree nearby, watching the interaction. In her hand, she held a communication lacrima that was alight.
"Are you sure we shouldn't have told him, First?"
"No, Third," Mavis replied, watching the mages run off to find their lunch. "He can't know Lucy's situation. He's a dragon too."
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"Laxus and Gajeel both knew about Lucy's involvement with Natsu," Mavis explained. "Once he knows she's fair game again and they're stuck on this island together, there's no telling what he'll do."
"I don't understand. Why does Lucy's relationship status matter?"
"Third, when did you grandson leave to train?" Mavis demanded, growing impatient with the oblivious nature of Fairy Tail males.
"Three months ago."
"That's when Natsu and Lucy starting dating," Mavis sighed, hoping Makarov would make the connection. His mouth formed an 'o' as he realised what Mavis was saying.
"And, though Laxus wasn't raised by a dragon like the others, the nature of his magic still conveys he has a possessive nature," Mavis continued. "If Lucy allows something to happen, fine. But we cannot interfere. "
"Beautiful great-grandchildren..."
Mavis laughed at Makarov's antics, picturing the children the pair on the island would have.
"Goodbye, Third."
She drained the power she'd connected from the Tenrou tree into the lacrima and it's light faded.
"That poor girl," she muttered. "Everywhere she turns, another slayer is gunning for her heart."
Uwaaaa I haven't written in forever! I hope this appeases those of you who've been waiting for the next chapter. Again, I apologise with how long it's taken. Well, I guess it's time for the Fairy Tail Fact.
Fairy Tail Fact: Did you know...
Laxus was completely aware that Mystogan was the Jellal from Edolas
Well, that's all for today. Thanks for reading and leave me your thoughts. Bye for now.
