Chapter Four – 2nd Chances

Chuck woke up early, showered and changed then headed to the hospital. Grabbing another bouquet of flowers, he hoped would make her day. He was getting good at not over staying his visit. One, the tension was too much for both of them as well as the fact that they both knew they each had something to say but weren't willing to come clean. Chuck walked the back stairs as the early sun approached and levelled out alongside the railing. Turning the corner, two of the nurses where standing pacing back and forth. Chuck knew that the patient in question was obviously not cooperating again. For someone who was always 'on' and by the book she was for sure the worst patient ever.

"Good Morning. Now what?"

"She did it again?"

Chuck looked into room and Sarah was nowhere to be seen. Chuck shook his head then passed the flowers to one of nurses then went looking for her. He knew that she didn't go far but she was good at hiding. Even in plain sight, security would have a hard time finding her especially when she didn't want to be found. Chuck knew that she wouldn't be inside. She needed to be free as much as she could with how she felt. Battered and bruised but not crush she wasn't going to let four walls keep her.

Chuck walked outside towards the garden. Enjoying the sun as he walked the path. This time he embraced the sun and was thankful that Sarah was finally awake. Holding onto that thought as long as he could till the uneasy feeling came over him that he had to tell her that her mom and sister were a few blocks way. Walking around, he sensed that Sarah was near. He remembered how it felt, when he was on a mission and was about to do something that was a bit scary. He knew that Sarah was close by and knowing that she was watching over him. He hoped that she felt the same.

Not saying anything, he found a bench near where he felt that she was hiding. Sitting down he crossed his leg and faced towards the sun. Closing his eyes, he sat and waited.

Sarah turned to face the hospital hoping that 'they' were done looking for her. Bending down the best she could she saw no one that would force her back to her room. Turning towards the inner circle of the garden it wasn't hard to see that she wasn't alone. Her eyes were still not the best from hitting the ground after the blast but the shoes; she saw she didn't need help to know who they belonged to. Coming out of hiding so to speak, she wondered how long he had been sitting there. It didn't matter but when she woke up and didn't find him in the room she felt a little deflated. Walking towards the love of her life, she stood in front of him. Chuck's bright light was now even brighter as he opened his eyes to see Sarah standing in front of him. Putting his leg down Sarah reached for his face as Chuck pulled her closer.

Sharing a few kisses, she sat down beside Chuck. Wrapping his arms around her. She leaned back under his right arm and stretched her legs out. "Out for a little game of hide and seek."

"Maybe."

"Couldn't sleep?"

"I want out of here?"

"Are you sure you just woke up from being unconscious for almost two weeks." Casually chuckling.

"I'm sure? They say I need rest. I can rest anywhere."

"Why the rush?"

Chuck knew that she wouldn't answer, they sat alone together till Chuck saw the orderlies come with a wheelchair. Chuck motioned to have them leave the chair at the entrance and that they were ok. Sarah had fallen asleep in his arms and it felt so good to hold her that he didn't want to ruin the moment.

Sarah woke to find her hand encased in his. Caressing his hand with her, she brought his hand to her lips then cradle their hands with her cheek. Chuck shuffled a bit then kissed the top of her head. Noticing the chair, she knew that it was time to head back. Chuck got up and helped Sarah up. Chuck steadied her as she got her bearings. Well he like the attention. Sarah smiled as she tried to stand up but ended up falling slightly back into his arms.

Chuck tucked Sarah back into her bed when she noticed the flowers. The nurses had put them in water and placed them by the window. Chuck sat down as Sarah nodded in the direction of the flowers. "Thank you I love them and thank you for the others as well."

Chuck leaned forward so that he could get his thank you. Chuck backed off and wiped his lip slightly as one of the doctors came in. Chuck headed towards the door as Sarah asked if he could stay. The doctor looked at Chuck to see if he'd mind and Chuck gracefully walked back and sat on the ledge by the window. The doctor checked her over from head to toe and did some tests. "Well, Ms. Walker. Despite the cuts and bruises from the blast and the obvious concussion – you're doing amazingly well."

Sarah didn't waste any time asking if she could leave.

The doctor looked at his chart again and knew that he had to give her the answer she wanted. "On one condition."

Sarah sat up.

"You come back in immediately if you feel…"

"I will."

Chuck smiled then hugged Sarah as she wanted a hug, as she was more than happy. Chuck on the other hand, held on but his face told a different story.

As Sarah completed the necessary paper work, Chuck slipped out and called Casey. In no time, Casey had arrived to drive them back to the hotel. Chuck stood outside with his arms crossed looking inside the room. Casey stopped and leaned beside him. "So now what?"

"Don't know. Get her settled then somehow break the ice?"

"More like blow it up." Chuck sighed and nodded.

Chuck waited as the doctor and nurses left. Casey followed. Sarah turned and gave Casey a hug. Which Casey winced but accepted. The nurses had given her a wraparound skirt and a t-shirt type top to wear. She wore her boots as Chuck grabbed her jacket and personal items. Chuck saw the chair and without a grumble Sarah sat down and the three of them headed out.

Casey did a scan of the area as they slipped out the back. He still didn't trust Mumbai and if people were looking for Sarah. If they were smart – they would have people everywhere looking for her.

"So where are we going to?"

"Beckman put us up in a suite a few blocks away."

"Beckman?"

"Yes, she'll come by tomorrow, to check in with you."

"Well that's nice of her." As the three of them chuckled at each other.

Casey pulled up to the hotel and they headed upstairs. Casey told Chuck that he had gotten a room across the hall so that Sarah could have his room and that Lisa and Molly were on the other side of the suite unaware that Sarah was coming here.

Chuck helped Sarah in. Walking around the room, Chuck followed but kept his distance. Turning around she extended her hand. Chuck walked towards her and as they kissed, they wished that they could take it further being reunited and all. Instead, Chuck took her hand and drew a bath for her. As the water filled the bath, Chuck stood in front of her as he untied the wraparound skirt from Sarah. Lifting her top, he helped her out of it. The material fell to the floor as Chuck dragged his fingers up her arm and laid his hand flat on her chest. Their hearts beating as one, their breaths in harmony. His touches had no sexual nature to them but just being close to her was all they needed. Sarah shivered with his every touch.

Helping her into the steaming water, he grabbed the soap, wash cloth, lathered the cloth, and gently washed her back. Sarah smiled then continued with her bath as Chuck left. Chuck dried his hands and went to find something to eat. Phoning downstairs he had them bring up an assortment of everything. Looking over to the other side he wanted to let Lisa know but Sarah needed to be told first. He would not know how to explain it if he didn't.

Sarah walked out and stood near the window, thinking that weeks ago she was walking down the street to grab a bite to eat then was off to the airport. She was planning to come home as her hunt for Ryker had dried up. Well in all honestly she missed Chuck terribly, missed L.A. and everyone else; she was coming home. Now weeks later, Chuck was here in the next room. He had come to her. He always came for her.

Sarah rummaged through Chuck's bag and found a pair of clean boxers and some sweats. Finding his burgundy t-shirt she put it on. She loved seeing him in his burgundy t-shirt. She would have to go shopping for clothes sometime in the near future. She thought to herself. Rolling up the legs, as the legs were a bit too long. She turned to grab her towel to finish drying her hair when her eye caught someone at the door.

The little girl stared her over then called out. "Mom! Sarah's here!"

Chuck dropped his drink as Lisa came running out of her room. Reaching the door Molly had walked in on Sarah and was standing in front of her. Sarah speechless to why this little girl was in front of her. When Sarah looked and saw her mom and Chuck, at the door the, identity of the girl made sense. Lisa grabbed Molly and stepped back. Chuck moved in and if looks could kill. Chuck was a dead man. Sarah knew now what Chuck had been hiding but how did he know that his secret was connected to hers.

Sarah stood up and looked at her mom, which she had not seen in over seven years. As tears filled her eyes, she saw that her mom had opened her arms. Her mom embraced Sarah, as Molly wanted to be included. Sarah squatted down and wiped her eyes. Molly I would like to introduce you to your big sister Sarah. Molly extended her hand but instead went for a hug. Sarah embraced Molly as it had been a long time when she had held her in her arms.

Sarah stood up as Lisa and Sarah embraced again. Lisa whispered to Sarah. "Don't be mad at Chuck. You don't know the whole story." Sarah nodded slightly. Chuck walked out of the room as the three of them got reacquainted. Sarah looked upset to see that Chuck had left.

Chuck poured himself some liquid courage and sat out on the balcony. Lisa, Molly and Sarah had a bite to eat. They agreed to talk tomorrow as night had crept upon them. Lisa reassured Sarah that he was doing what he thought was the right thing to do at the time. In hindsight, what Chuck did was amazing. How he did, it was another story. Sarah said good night and walked out towards Chuck hoping that he was still outside. Happy to see that he was still sitting, she sat down beside him. Chuck looked up to see what she was wearing.

"I hope you don't mind, I don't have any clothes."

"No you look great."

Sarah looked around the balcony then set her eyes on Chuck.

"How?"

Chuck got up and leaned against the balcony looking back at Sarah. "You want to know how? You tell me why, and then I will tell you how."

'Fair enough' Sarah thought to herself, but where would she start. Looking up at Chuck, she reached for his hand but this time he didn't reach for it.

"Okay. I was on my way home."

Chuck interrupted her. "No I want to know where the hell you have been for the last four months. Why didn't you come home with Casey? And who is this Ryker guy?"

Chuck knew more than she thought he knew. Sarah could see the hurt in his eyes and his face and body were tense. "Casey and I felt that the current mission we were on wasn't going anywhere, so we agreed to pass it onto another agency."

Chuck made a checklist in his head of the events that Sarah was mentioning. Just in case, what he heard and found out didn't mash with her story.

"Go on."

"Casey went ahead and I met with Cole Barker in a café in Tokyo."

'Check'

In exchange, he passed one of his files onto us to check out. Something involving a French couple who where Scientists. We said our goodbyes and I headed back to the hotel to leave in the morning. When I got back the coffee had set in so I wasn't tired. I called you but your weren't home and your cell was off.

'Chuck had to think back. His phone was off once when Lester and Jeff were trying to break into it. But he doesn't remember the house phone not taking a message. Maybe Ellie picked up the message or deleted the number?'

I planned to call later but when I started reading the file, it had so many similarities to that of a mission I was on when I first started working for the CIA. I was teamed up with an agent named Kieran Ryker. We were sent to Budapest, I assume to get Intel on the French couple who authorities believed were creating some kind of viral agent that if it ever got into the wrong hands could be devastating. Being new to the whole CIA game, I went along with the stories that Ryker was telling me. So one night Ryker came across some Intel that the viral agent was stolen and was believed to be in the hands of a group of really bad men. We were told to enter, identify and leave. However, when we arrived Ryker took off and sent me in instead. I entered the room to find six men sitting down drinking, and having a good time. Ryker told me to get rid of them. Not my choice, I did what I was told. Then as I was about to leave, I heard what sounded like a baby crying. I searched the rest of the floor to find a baby crying in a bassinette. I could still hear Ryker in my ear asking if the package was taken care of. I asked him you mean the agent. He stumbled at first. 'NO!, I mean the package.' By now, I knew that he didn't need those men killed, he needed the baby. For whatever reason, the package was the intended payout. Tossing my earpiece, I picked up the baby and left out the back. Found a hotel room and hid there for a few days. I did what I could; I even called my mom, which I had not done in a long time. And to make a story short I made arrangements to have the baby stay with her instead of Ryker. And if anything happened she had to run. "

'Check' So far her story checked out' some relief pour over him.

Waiting for Chuck to answer he leaned away from the balcony, Sarah hoped that he was going to say something. "I'm glad you're safe, but why were you gone this long. From what you have said, you should have been home shortly thereafter."

Sarah reached again for Chuck. "You don't understand."

"I understand. You said before you left L.A that nothing would keep you from coming home."

"I meant that."

"Well if that was true then why did I have to go and find you?"

Chuck walked back in leaving Sarah's words thrown back in her face. Casey knocked on the door as Chuck opened the door and left. Casey could see Sarah sitting outside and Chuck, less than pleased heading down the hall. Casey closed the door and walked out towards the balcony. Sarah wiped her eyes as Casey entered. "I guess that didn't go well?"

"No it did not!"

"He's been through a lot. He hasn't been able to relax for months. We searched for you for weeks."

Sarah looked up.

"When you didn't come home, Chuck got reassigned so that he could use CIA resources to find you. We were close on many occasions, out maybe a few days to a week."

"Reassigned?"

"Yeah. We got back about three weeks ago, after searching Japan and area; he finally crashed and slept for days. When we got word that, you were found here in Mumbai we have been here since."

"My mom, Molly?"

"That was a fluke. We found your apartment."

"No wonder Chuck…"

"Wonder what?"

Sarah didn't want to tell Casey that she told Chuck that she was coming home when she had an apartment with stashed Intel. It made her look like she was never planning to come home.

"Chuck and I cleared your place out and well we weren't alone."

Casey continued to fill Sarah in on how Chuck was able to find her mother and make the decision to bring them here. At least they would be safe.

Casey let himself out as Sarah walked back in to see the main room was empty. Feeling drained more than ever she headed back to her room. Opening the window and pulling back the covers she crawled in. Hours later, Chuck snuck in not to wake the room full of women. Heading back to Sarah's room he stood in the doorway. He was torn whether to crawl in beside her or sleep on the couch in response for the last four months. Too many times, he was the one to take the first step when things didn't go well between them. He was the one to say sorry or it was his fault. It was his mistake to understand the life of a spy. For the first time Chuck wanted it to be Sarah's mistake. But with all that was going on, could there be a second chance. Could he give her that second chance even when he had given her so many.

Sarah rolled over and was awaken by the noise of the crowd. Mumbai was like Vegas or even New York; people never slept. Before she could fall back to sleep she had to see if Chuck had return. She couldn't look for him if he wasn't. Walking back into the main room, she saw Chuck laying so peaceful on the couch. Kneeling beside him, she ran her finger across his forehead bring the fallen hairs back in place. She loved his longer hair and was glad to see that it had grown a bit. Not that she didn't like the shorter look but she had her preference. Standing up she kissed his cheek and whispered 'I love you' then headed back.

Trying to sleep was harder this time around. Setting up her pillows, she looked out toward the door to see Molly standing there. Molly just stood in awe of her big sister that she had heard about but never met till now. Sarah padded the bed as Molly climbed up. She was carrying a stuffed puppy. Plopping it onto the bed and getting settled. Sarah looked down at the puppy.

"Who's this?"

"This is Rex."

"Hi Rex. I had a puppy too when I was little, I called him bunny."

"That's a silly name for a dog." They both laughed.

Sarah looked down at Molly, as Molly was playing with Rex.

"Can't sleep?"

"I had to go to the bathroom and I wanted to see you. Mom was sleeping so I couldn't ask her."

"That's ok. We can tell her in the morning."

"My mom sings to me when I can't sleep. Did she sing to you when you were little?"

Sarah didn't remember much of her childhood and she wasn't going to burden her little sisters life with her own rocky upbringing.

Softly Sarah could hear Molly singing something that became more familiar as she went on.

Slumber, my darling, thy mother is near,

Guarding thy dreams from all terror and fear,

Sunlight has pass'd and the twilight has gone,

Slumber, my darling, the night's coming on.

Sweet visions attend thy sleep,

Fondest, dearest to me…,

Slumber, my darling, the birds are at rest,

The wandering dews by the flow'rs are caressed,

Slumber, my darling, I'll wrap thee up warm,

And pray that the angels will shield thee from harm.

Molly looked up to see that Sarah had started mouthing the words. Smiling she started again. Sarah leaned back as Molly scooted back and laid down with her puppy next to her. Sarah had not had this connection with anyone except for Chuck. It had been over seven years since they were together. 'Could Molly be remembering?'

Whatever it was and how Chuck made it work out she covered them both up and fell asleep. Lisa walked out and when she saw that Molly wasn't next to her. She walked to the other side to see her two daughters sleeping; something she had only dreamed about. Knowing that it would never happen, but this dream did come true. Closing the door behind her, she saw Chuck awake and stretching. Walking over she sat down next to him. "Good morning."

"Morning."

"Did you and Molly sleep well?"

"Molly snuck into Sarah's room. I will let them sleep."

"Did you?"

"I guess, I hadn't been sleeping so anything now is better than what I had been getting."

"Chuck, I don't know you well yet but again thank you for finding us and bringing us here. I never thought that I would have to go fly around the world in order to see my Sarah again."

"I had to do what I thought was right. Bringing you here is the least of my worries, its the not knowing where Sarah had been the last four months, then finding her apartment tells me that she wasn't planning to come home after all."

"Do you know that for sure?"

"I know that Sarah can be secretive if she wants to but before you accuse her of that, maybe listen first then react."

"She's a lot like you. She would say don't freak out."

Lisa smiled and got up patting Chuck on the shoulder as she headed back to her room. Chuck got up folded his bedding and put them in the closet. Ordering down for breakfast, he walked back to get a glimpse of the sleeping beauties. Grabbing a few things, he snuck back out but as he tried to be as quiet as he could, a little voice spoke up.

"Good morning Chuck."

Chuck looked down to see Molly that stood no taller than his upper legs; he bent down to greet Rex. "Did we sleep well?"

"Yup, and I helped Sarah fall to sleep to."

"Oh did you?"

"Yup, she wasn't able to sleep so we talked and sang a song then we fell asleep."

"Well I bet she appreciated that."

"I think so. I think she was really tired."

Chuck tweaked her cheek as he headed into the bathroom. Coming out breakfast had arrived with Casey arriving at the same time. Chuck made a tray with some coffee. Made sure the rest were taken care of and slipped back to wake Sarah up. Placing the tray down, he walked over and opened the curtains to allow the sunshine to come through. Sarah rolled over to see who was now standing in her room, she sat up. Reaching out her hand, this time Chuck didn't resist. Chuck sat down beside Sarah and as their foreheads touched, Sarah ran her hand down his cheek.

Whispering. "I'm sorry Chuck."

Lifting her head slightly she kissed his forehead, and then their lips met. Sarah leaned back as Chuck slid in beside her. Carefully he laid her back further, kissing and holding her tight. Sarah cringed a bit which made Chuck stop but she reassurance him as they continued.

"I would like to continue this further."

"Then what's stopping you?"

Chuck smiled, shook his head then looked towards the door.

"Your mom is just outside."

"You afraid of getting caught."

Chuck rolled off Sarah and sat up. Reaching for the cups, he passed one onto Sarah as Sarah leaned against Chuck.

"Rain check then?" Chuck smiled.

"I'll hold you to that."

"I hope you'll hold onto more than that." Sarah bit her lip slightly as she slipped her coffee.

"Just drink your coffee."

Chuck reached for the tray and laid it across his lap.

After breakfast

Casey opened the door as Beckman entered. Introducing the General to Sarah's mom and sister, he went to go get Chuck and Sarah. Sarah laid half-straddling Chuck as he laid with his right arm behind his back and his left arm tightly around Sarah. She placed her hand under his shirt, as this was one her favourite spots. Caressing his chest and stomach and his neck were a few ways to distract him as well as relax him for fun later on. Nevertheless, to have the opportunity to do this after so long, she didn't care what the reasons were. Chuck heard the knock and looking a bit disappointed, he called out.

Casey opened the door. "Hey guys sorry to disrupt your reunion of sorts, but Beckman is here."

Chuck sat up with Sarah.

"Okay give us a few minutes."

Chuck stood up and helped Sarah up. Still a bit wobbly, he held on as she got her bearings.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

"We'll talk later?" Chuck kissed her once more. Grabbing the tray, they headed out.

Beckman stoic as ever turned to see Chuck and Sarah coming out of the back room. Sarah took her time as Chuck went ahead and put the tray outside the room to be picked up. Beckman, Sarah and Lisa sat at the table as Chuck set up a movie for Molly in the other bedroom. Casey leaned against the couch. Chuck joined them.

"It's good to see you Sarah."

"It's good to see you as well."

As they discussed the courteous type questions, Lisa knew when to back out. She squeezed Sarah's shoulder, smiled at Casey and Beckman then walked passed Chuck as Chuck extended his hand, Lisa squeezed it. Beckman waited until Lisa closed the door. Chuck then sat down at the table next to Sarah.

"So team."

The three of them looked at each other. Not sure where Beckman was going with this or what she was thinking. Both could be dangerous.

"First of all, Sarah we need to come to a consensus that, your past has now come back to haunt you. I checked with Agent Barker and he collaborated with what Chuck and Casey had found in your apartment."

Sarah swallowed hard. It didn't look good for her.

"I don't care for the fact that you felt that you needed to take this on yourself. And the fact that you had been gone for all these months without checking in."

Chuck looked at Sarah then, looked at Beckman.

"General, I believe Sarah did try to call but the morons at Buy More had taken it upon them to fool around with my phone so on the day in question I wasn't able to take her call."

Chuck had no proof that Sarah had actually called except for her word. Sarah gave him that special look that they had for each other that meant so much more than words could ever say.

"Sorry Agent Walker, but just the same. Letting us know where you were could have saved us from being here now."

"I understand General."

"As for your mother and sister. I spoke to Graham and he confirmed that your actions seven years ago were valid. Ryker was indeed up to something."

"Thanks, that is why when I got the file from Agent Cole, I knew that Ryker was still looking for the child. I assumed if he got the child back, it gave him access to something. I believe his window of opportunity is running out on claiming that access. "

"Sarah you may be right." Looking at Chuck. "Chuck what made you go look for Sarah's family?"

When Casey and I found the transmitter, and figured out what it was, we needed to find out – one; why would Sarah have this – secondly; could it lead us to answering the many questions we had that we needed answers for, - thirdly – selfishly I wanted answers."

Sarah reached for Chucks hand and covered his with hers.

Beckman then looked at Casey. Casey didn't think he needed to speak but the look Beckman had – he better say something.

"Chuck and I found her apartment and located a hidden wall, which had 2 boxes filled with Intel. We brought the boxes back here on our second trip there. I noticed two guys spying at her place and when we left they followed us. I assume that they are still out there, maybe Ryker's men. I don't know but if they know that Sarah didn't parish in the bombing, assuming that they had been following her on that day, they have a job to finish."

The three waited as Beckman made some notes and composed herself.

"Sarah, I want you to rest then continue your hunt for Ryker. This time with help. Chuck I would like you to go through the file that Agent Barker gave Sarah and get in contact with him. Set up a meeting with him and see if he has found anything more on this couple. Casey check the CCTV feeds if they have any and get a confirmation on those men – your right if they were following Sarah prior to the blast and thought that the blast had done the job for them and it didn't, they will be back. I am heading back in a few days. Chuck and Major Casey you're dismissed. Sarah can I have a word with you alone."

Chuck and Casey got up and walked out towards the balcony on his way out Chuck gave Sarah a kiss on the cheek.

Beckman looked at Sarah. "Off the record."

Sarah nodded. "How are you doing?"

"Ok I guess. Chuck and I have a lot to discuss. And now my mom and Molly are here, that's something new."

"Well we will have to keep them safe, Casey got rid of their identification so hopefully no one can trace them here. They are welcomed to fly back with me and…"

"That might be best; I can't have anything happen to them now that they are back in my life again. Especially if we need to head out to bring Ryker in."

"Okay let me know. Do you know where to start looking for him?"

"No not really."

"Well then you have some work to do. But please rest first."

Beckman stood up and shook Sarah's hand. Chuck and Casey walked back in as the General left. Chuck went to get Lisa and Molly. Molly came running out and ran into Sarah's arms.

Chuck walked back and wished that he could savour the scene with a picture. Sarah looked up at Chuck. Casey saw the look and knew that it was his cue to step up. "Anyone for ice cream?"

Lisa and Molly looked at each other. "Let's head downstairs."

Molly was the first to reach the door. "You coming Sarah, Chuck?"

Lisa gave Sarah a hug. Then looked at Molly. "Chuck and Sarah have some things to do but I know that they will join us later."

Sarah smiled then replied. "Yes we will see you soon." Molly waved as Casey closed the door.

Sarah doddled around the room as Chuck slowly lingered behind her. Gesturing for him to join her she leaned back against the couch as Chuck took his time. Sarah knew why he was taking his time and she couldn't blame him. Four months ago, they had a romantic evening, which ended with them up making love finally literally alone, as Morgan was not around. Chuck had laid out pillows, blankets and candles around the living room floor with soft music as the TV showed a video version of a fireplace, cracking sounds you name it. Chuck drew Sarah a beautiful bath as he prepared his chicken pepperoni. Sarah joined him wearing her favourite and his; boxers and British t-shirt. He would like seeing the sexy lingerie but this look Sarah enjoy because it made her feel more like herself and not Sarah the spy but definitely Sarah the girlfriend.

Sliding her arms around Chuck, she kissed the middle of his back then his neck. Adding the finishing touches, he escorted her to the living room. Sitting down on the posh cushions, they enjoyed the meal and each other's company. As the wine flowed, they knew that in a few hours she would be gone hopefully not too long. Chuck placed his hand on her face and caressed her cheek with his thumb. Kissing the inside of his hand, he moved to his knees. Sarah placed her arms under his arms and brought him close to her as they laid down on the pillows. Moving in sync, Sarah rolled Chuck over as one of the pillows poked him wrong in the back. Sitting up slightly he removed the darn pillow then laid back down. Sarah slowly unbutton his shirt as he watch her linger on every button. As their articles of clothing were tossed around the room, they became one.

Sarah laid content on her side as Chuck leaned onto his left elbow kissing Sarah's right shoulder, dragging his finger across and down her arm, over her hip bone which he made circles dipping here and there, obviously distracting her from her sleep. As the fingers moved down her leg then rebounded up her leg, this time it made her turn back towards Chuck.

"What are we doing Bartowski?"

"Communicating."

"Really."

"It's the best kind. Nonverbal, effective and versatile."

Sarah laid back as she wanted some proof that this worked. "Do your worst."

Chuck dove in as Sarah half rolled back with Chuck – kissing deeply which reminded them both of the morning in the hotel when they were on the run.

Chuck stood in front of Sarah as they held each other, they could feel how they both needed to be together like this. Things could have gone totally wrong. Each fearing the worst, especially in this line of work. Trying not to tear up, she knew that they still weren't safe until Ryker was behind bars or dead. Leaning back slightly their lips met.

Parting ways, they knew they had work to do first, and lots to talk about as well. Sarah took her files back to her room, needing to rest; she figured she could do all three. Chuck grabbed Cole's file and two bottles of water and joined her. Settling in her bed, Chuck half laid at the foot of the bed and quickly got to work. Sarah thought that they would talk first but Chuck started reading. 'Maybe he didn't get the memo.'

Chuck looked up. "Oh sorry you want to talk now?"

Sarah tilted her head slightly.

Chuck closed the file and faced Sarah.

"Chuck I'll start."

"Oh, ok." Chuck looking worried.

"Before you think anything different of me, I know that you have tossed this around in your head. But I was planning to come home. The apartment wasn't exactly what you thought it was. It was a MI6 safe house. Cole let me use it and he had his Intel sent there as well as what I had come across the past few months. It was only temporary. It's the truth but I can see how it looked to you and I'm sorry."

Chuck nodded.

"Being gone, I can give you many excuses on why I didn't come home. But when I read that Ryker was still looking for the child, my whole world next to you was about to explode. I had kept my mother's identity secret for so long; no one knew that she existed. And with Molly, I don't know what came over me. Any maternal tendencies or thoughts were never a part of my plan. How I was raised was something that I would never want for a child if I ever had one, to experience. But the baby, Chuck she did mean something to me."

Subtly Chuck spoke. "Pulled at your heart strings?"

"More than you know. A spy can't feel or share their feelings but I knew one person that could."

"So you had your mom…."

"Yes I had my mom take her."

"You did what you had to do. And you're still doing what you need to do. It's why I did what I did to bring them here. I didn't know till I looked at this lady that I knew that she was your mom. She asked me with a shot gun nearby, are you Chuck."

"Really?"

"Yeah like mother like daughter."

Sarah laughed then grabbed her side. Chuck moved towards Sarah.

"You ok?"

"It just still hurts to laugh, that's all."

"She was ready to leave when her transmitter went off but her ride wasn't ready to go so when we arrived she thought that they had found her. "

"I gave her the rattle with explicit instructions that if it went off to run and I would get in contact with her."

"Well you should be pleased she did what you told her to do, even after all these years."

"You said you talked to Cole?"

"Yeah Casey and I found a phone in the lining of your jacket. When I got back to the hotel, I called the number. The voice thought that it was you calling. I said not exactly. He wanted confirmation so did I? I asked him a question about the time we were taken for the play back device. I asked him what the pre torture number was."

"And?"

"He wanted to know which number, yours or mine. I said both. We laughed then I knew that he was who he said he was. Speaking of Cole, we'd better call him." Chuck got up off the bed and went for the phone. Coming back, he gave it to Sarah as she pressed redial, the speaker and listened as it rang.

"Chuck?"

"Not exactly, but he is here."

"Walker."

"Yes."

"Its' good to hear your voice."

"It is."

"How are you doing?"

"Been better."

"I bet, so what can I do for you guys."

"We were wondering you had time to meet. We have some questions regarding your Intel that the file itself can't answer. And Chuck said that you might have found some new info that could help us?"

"I can meet you in Tokyo at the end of the week. I am back there for a MI6 conference. I have a few hours on Friday to meet. I will send you the name of the hotel when I arrive."

"Thanks Cole."

"Thank you guys, see you soon."

Sarah pressed end. Looking up at Chuck who was still standing by the bed. "I guess we are going to Tokyo."

"Konnichiwa."

"Ice cream first."

Chuck held out his hand as Sarah grabbed it and stood up. Reaching for his clothes to put back on. She turned to face him. "Are we ready for this?"

"Yes, we have to be."

Kissing her softly they headed downstairs.
